I certainly do hope that Rush is right that the people know what is at stake. I’m not quite as confident, to be honest.

Me neither, Ting! Frankly, it seems the majority of people are clueless.

Ting and Kelly, I know exactly how you feel — I feel the same way myself most of the time, particularly since I’m practically surrounded by liberals. But there are hopeful signs. For instance, here in Wisconsin, our governor Scott Walker got more votes in the primary election on Tuesday than all four of his Democrat challengers put together — even though he faced only token opposition (some Occupy dude that no one ever heard of). I went to the polls to vote for Scott, which my husband thought was a waste of time, and maybe it was, but I did it anyway. I voted for him in 2010, I voted for him on Tuesday, and I’ll vote for him again next month in the recall. How many people have the opportunity to vote for such a great governor three times in the space of only two years? It gave me a warm feeling inside just to cast my admittedly symbolic vote…. probably because of all the years Wisconsin suffered under worthless big-spending democrat governors who spent us into oblivion pandering to the public sector unions and telling us private sector working stiffs to go to hell.

Thank you, Bob. Scott Walker is a true hero..if I didn’t have three kids I would hightail myself out to Wisconsin and do anything possible to have him re-elected. Someone just told me that there may be something I can do from home (other than send money, which I have done). I try to remain hopeful, but we are up against so much, it scares me to my core. I attached this article for you to look at..it obviously didn’t help my mood.

Kelly, that is truly scary and I don’t doubt any of it. These people have no conscience, no morals, no scruples, no common decency…. one is tempted to say “no souls,” but I’m not sure that’s possible.
Reading that article made me think of Ephesians 6:12: “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”
I’m not Catholic, but several times a day I pray a prayer that I learned from my Catholic friends: “Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray; and do Thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host, by the divine power of God, cast into hell Satan and all the evil spirits who roam throughout the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.”
I figure we need all the help we can get.

Every morning, I pray these two prayers:
In the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ, by the Power of His Blood, and with the authority of my Baptism, I bind all demonic spirits, powers and forces of the air, earth, fire, water, Satanic forces of nature and Hell itself away from my entire network.*
Saint Michael the Archangel, please pray with me that all of God’s warriors will receive and nurture all the graces He has for us today, that we will use them to the max to know Him, love Him and serve Him in building His kingdom here on Earth and becoming more capable of enjoying Him forever in Heaven.
In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.
*”Network” is a handy shorthand I was taught by my prayer mentor. It’s like what lawyers do when they define specifically at the beginning of a contract exactly who the “Party of the First Part” is.
You can include whoever and whatever you choose in your network. My mentor taught me to extend it to include not just my loved ones, but also all of our friends, families, business associates and enemies. This is because Satan can assault us not just directly, but also laterally, and our enemies in particular are especially easy for him to manipulate, since they already hate us.
The “air, earth, etc.” is there because demons operate not only through people but also through nature. Pondering this led me to add to my network all the various ways we are interconnected and dependent, like our computers, internet connections, power lines, gas lines, automobiles, etc. Disruptions in any of these can really diminish our effectiveness and lead us into sin.
As you can see, “network” can be a really extensive list, which is why it is useful to define it formally, in writing even, then just use the term you chose (“my network” or whatever feels right for you) in your daily binding prayer. I renew my definition about once a year.
Why do binding? Same reason you brush your teeth. We can’t see demons or germs, but they’re there and it’s just good hygiene to limit their ability to harm us. And, glory be to God, through Jesus, we have authority over them.
[P.S., If this discussion offends your theology, I’m sorry. Please just ignore it. I’m posting it for those who may find it useful, not to start an argument. Thank you.]

No, I am never offended when someone’s intentions are to help me find true hope in a very scary world. You guys have all helped me more than you know and we will all need prayer, or whatever brings us comfort, for what may be coming. God bless all that help make this site what it is…informational, provocative and often times, hysterical.
