What a beautiful weekend!
Dateline: Roy Gayle Baseball Park,Sat.,May 17:
The Lonnie’s Stone Cutters ballclub pulled out a thrilling 5-4 win,led by leftfielder RJ Pistol III. The crowd included his mom,dad,stepdad,2 grammas,grampa and 3 sisters. It has been said (I think by me) that a hot dog just doesn’t taste right unless there’s a ball game in front of it. Maybe I’m just a stingy old curmudgeon,but when I went to the concession stand,they wanted $3.50 for a hot dog,$1.50 for a cup of soda or bottle of water and $1.50 for a bag of chips. Who ever set the prices is obviously a democrat out to soak “the rich.” We decided to get some franks and dogs and have a cookout at DD’s house,with SIL and I scorching the meat while the womenfolk whomped up some tater salad and baked beans. We had a great time talking about nothing in particular for hours.
Our county fairgrounds hosts a huge flea market twice a year and we hadn’t been there for at least 6 years. We decided to go Sunday,being a warm,sunny day and DW deserved to do a little shopping somewhere besides WalMart. She always seeks out an Avon dealer who exhibites there and buys all the Imari fragrance she has. She also bought some crafts,some new cutlery and a bottle of honey from a bee farm from a neighboring town. I’m surprised you can still get farm products without a board of health permit or some kind of bureaucratic nonsense.
What I really enjoy about going to the fairground is the abundance of food available. You can find funnel cakes, egg rolls, corn dogs, pizza, meatball sandwiches, and ice cream in handmade waffle cones among other items. There is a food trailer that sets up from a meat packing company in another township that has to-die-for pulled pork sandwiches and grills pork chops and sausages on a spit behind the trailer. I came home and took a nice nap,fully satisfied with a tummy full of barbecued pork.
Then I got up and started researching items for today’s post. What a buzzkill. I hadn’t given anything political a thought for days and,sadly,not much had changed. Time to change into my cynical suit and wade hip-deep into the corruption,depravity and fraud that is today’s body politic.

This is so disturbing. I have been praying and praying for her. We had a lot of the “lost boys” from Sudan attending the high school from which my children graduated. I volunteered in the Guidance Office and got to know quite a few of them fairly well. They were older than their peers, and many of them roomed together in an apartment complex that housed mostly refugee type people sponsored by various churches. A lot of them worked at Walmart or grocery stores at night and went to school in the day time. I was very fond of those boys and one of them was the speaker at the Baccalaureate for my daughter’s class. His story was so remarkable, and so tragic. A lot of them became literal slaves to the Muslims who would raid their villages, killing all the parents and hauling off the children. They would kill the weakest, most anxious children, and the ones who dared to try to assert themselves. The whole thing is just too much evil to really digest.

Conyers joins ACLU lawsuit over petition signatures
Rep. John Conyers Jr. (D-Mich.) signed onto a lawsuit Thursday, challenging a ruling that keeps his name off the ballot in the Michigan Democratic primary.
Conyers, one of the longest serving House members, joined an American Civil Liberties Union lawsuit filed earlier this week that challenges as unconstitutional a state law that prevents people who are not registered to vote in Michigan to collect petition signatures for a candidate.
When I first posted the story,I said after 50 years of fleecing the ignorant masses of Detroilet there was no way he wouldn’t get the rules changed so he can keep his grip on power,at least until his wife gets out of prison.

More than 40 students and three professors had protested Birgeneau’s invitation to speak, objecting to his handling of a 2011 incident at Berkeley in which police used force at a student protest. The group wanted Birgeneau to apologize, support payments for victims, and write a letter to Haverford students explaining his position on the events and “what you learned from them.”
Birgeneau, who was also supposed to receive an honorary degree from Haverford, refused those demands and others in a terse email.
