HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHRISSY!!

She does the lion’s share of the work on this blog, posting things every day. They’re always relevant and put together well. She always has answers to techie questions when I get brain cramps and she’s as good a friend as I’ll never meet. I won’t reveal how old she is,she can do that if she chooses. All I know is my life is richer for having known her. Have the most blessed day ever, buddy.

From my daughter’s FB page:

“Look Ma… No brace!” We had an appointment with Tyler’s neurosurgeon this afternoon, & after a few x-rays, we got the news that we were hoping for! His doctor gave the official ok to start weaning out of the neck brace! It will be gradual over the next 6 weeks, & Tyler will get physical therapy to help strengthen his neck muscles. He’s had it on since December, so he’s a little unsure about taking it off, but I think he will adjust quickly. I told him that it’s one more step closer to beating cancer, & another sign that the treatments are working. Feeling very thankful tonight! I want to thank all of you for your continued prayers. My family is blessed with some wonderful supporters.

A LITTLE INFORMATION, PLEASE

Maybe it’s just because I’m a moron, but maybe somebody can help. I have a 5X7 picture of myself and Miss Olivia when she was about 2 years old that I commented to DW was one of my favorites. At Christmas she had it blown up to 8X10 and framed. I’d like to get a scan of it to upload and use as the background on my FB page. What would I have to do to get this done? Could my neighborhood Walgreens do it? It’s a really good picture and I’d like to post it. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Need a Little Sangria de Mayo Tonight?

We got you covered. Even though this is technically a Spanish favorite, normally made with Spanish wine and brandy, we’re going to call it Mexican since we are using the wonderful Mexican Presidente brandy and some Argentinian Malbec. It’s close enough. Just like our measuring system. It’s open to interpretation.
Sang2
Combine in a medium pitcher:
4-5 glugs, any drinkable red wine.  We are using a really cheap Argentinian Malbec. Our guests will never know.
4-5 glugs, apple juice.
2-3 glugs, orange juice.
1-2 glugs, Presidente brandy.
1-2 glugs, triple sec (orange liquor).
1-2 glugs, club soda or San Pellegrino.
1 splash, lemon juice.
1 splash, St. Germaine (grapefruit liquor – optional).
1 splash, jalapeño juice (REALLY optional).
Lots of cut up random fruit. Extra points if you have citrus or mangoes, but anything will do.

Salud!

FELIZ CINCO DE MAYO, MI AMIGOS Y AMIGAS

Note to self: don’t try to post after having burritos for lunch.

I haven’t spent time drinking in a bar since 1984. Back then, mixed drinks were $1.50. Now they’re like $7-8. Who can afford that?
There are a few things I always wanted to say in a bar but never had the nerve (or was drunk enough) to say:

‘What’s a slut like you doing in a nice place like this?’
‘You don’t sweat much for a fat girl.’
‘Don’t worry about me respecting you in the morning, I don’t respect you now.’
‘I’m divorced… but not desperate.’
‘Of course I’m driving home… I’m too drunk to walk.’

MSM: In the tank for the Left … as usual

Clinton gotta pay bills

Have you noticed the mainstream media persistently and unanimously demanding that Democrat Hillary Clinton finally start answering serious questions on current events and policy?

Neither have we.

Koch vs Clinton Foundations

Do you remember the three days of negative press coverage, including sexist suggestions, that Rand Paul got just for pushing back on one reporter’s questions about abortion?

We do.

Sanger and Clinton

Did you hear about the guy who worked for the Clinton Foundation for five years then joined Egypt’s jihadist Muslim Brotherhood?

He and 35 of his cronies just received life sentences. Another dozen or so have been sentenced to death.

Does a cartoon justify murder? UPDATE

May 3, 2015: Two men drove up and opened fire on the site of the heavily guarded “Draw the Prophet” event in Garland, Texas.  The two gun men were shot and killed in the parking lot; one of the officers on duty suffered non-life threatening injuries.  The event was locked down while police searched for a possible bomb while visitors to the exhibit sang patriotic songs to pass the time as they waited for the all clear.  The cartoon contest was held in defense of free speech and to highlight the cowardice of the American press that refused to publish the Mohammad-mocking Charlie Hebdo cartoons that inspired the lethal January 7, 2015, attack in Paris. The $10,000 prize-winning cartoon was drawn by Bosch Fawstin, a former Muslim.

2015_05 04 Winning Muhammad cartoon

January 7, 2015: Two members of Al-Qaeda attacked the office of the French satirical weekly newspaper Charlie Hebdo in Paris and murdered 22 people. The reason? Charlie Hebdo had published cartoons mocking Muhammed. IMHO, Hebdo has published far worse about Christians, particularly Catholics, and Jews. I am unaware of any of us responding with anything more dire than a strongly worded protest. Normally, I wouldn’t reprint this kind of trash, but I think it’s important that we view the context within which 22 people were murdered by militant Muslims.

UPDATE:

The American Left Stream Media has taken the “Blame Pam Geller” route for the shootings at the ‘Draw Mohammad” event.  On Sunday, she told “Fox and Friends” that she has message for those who want to blame her for what appears to be a terrorist attack on the event:

“I’m not responsible for the violence conducted by others. It’s outrageous that this would even be the morally inverted view of the media, that somehow because we drew a cartoon that two gunmen with AK-47s tried to storm the building and shoot up innocent people, and somehow they’re not responsible?”

THIS AIN’T PARIS

One of my favorite westerns is Quigley Down Under, set in turn-of-the-century Australia and stars Tom Selleck and Alan Rickman (bad guy from Die Hard.) Selleck plays a Colorado cowboy who traveled cown under for a job. Rickman fancies himself as a gunslinger in the American West. He, along with two cronies, face a showdown with Selleck.

Rickman: “Some people wereare born in the wrong century…I was born on the wrong continent.”
Selleck: “This ain’t Dodge City…and you ain’t Bill Hickok.”
With that, Selleck draws his pistol and guns down all three. (He IS the hero, after all.)

Last year some Jihadis got pissed off about a French satire magazine were printing cartoons of the pedophile they swear allegiance to. With the strict gun control laws in France, the employees at Charlie Hebdo were helpless as the butchers swarmed in and slaughtered twelve innocents.

Fast forward to last night in Garland, Texas.

The attack yesterday took place around 7 p.m. local time at the Curtis Culwell Center in Garland, Texas, northeast of Dallas. The occasion was the “Muhammad Art Exhibit and Cartoon Contest,” a sold-out event organized by the American Freedom Defense Initiative (AFDI), a group founded by activist and “Atlas Shrugs” blogger Pamela Geller, and by Jihad Watch, a website run by Spencer that is affiliated with the David Horowitz Freedom Center, which publishes FrontPage. Geller and Spencer attended the event.

When I first heard of the attempted attack by two individuals I thought: this ain’t Paris. They have guns in Texas and they can damn sure use them. And they did.
My second thought was that the two attackers were probably negroes who “converted” to Islam as an excuse to commit violence.

Official:  One of Texas Shooting Suspects IDed
One of the suspects in the shooting in Garland, Texas, late Sunday has been identified as Elton Simpson, an Arizona man who was previously the subject of a terror investigation, according to a senior FBI official.

The UK Telegraph was outraged over the massacre in Paris. I’m posting this to show the liberal European mindset:

‘This is a war’: The woman behind anti-Islamic Muhammad cartoon contest and her long history of hatred
Blogger Pamela Geller, 56, president of the American Freedom Defense Initiative, has been highly critical of Islam for years
Geller’s group was behind anti-Islamic ads that began appearing on New York City buses and subway entrances last year
She said Sunday that the shooting showed how ‘needed our event really was’
This is the REAL hatred, folks.
YOU’LL NEVER READ A MORE SNEERING ACCOUNT OF SOMEONE WITH COURAGE

IT DIDN’T TAKE LONG FOR THE LEFT TO LEAP TO THE DEFENSE OF THE ATTEMPTED MURDERERS
I can’t say I didn’t see it coming. Instead of finding fault with the attackers that tried to KILL Pamela Geller for using her freedom of speech, CNN’s Alisyn Camerota calls her a bigot and attacks her on air. Pamela handled it expertly and destroyed every criticism tossed her way.

I NEVER EVEN KNEW CAMEROTA WENT OVER TO THE DARK SIDE. JUST GOES TO SHOW YOU.

THERE WILL BE MUCH MORE ABOUT THIS, BUT IT’S EARLY. STAY TUNED.

Whether to be a victor or a victim is an individual choice

I know from long, hard and very personal experience that a person can be victimized and still CHOOSE to be a victor.

West Victors not Victims

Why did blacks riot in Baltimore?

“We’re just angry at the surroundings–like this is all that is given to us?–and we’re tired of this, like nobody wants to wake up and see broken-down buildings.” – Robert Wilson of Baltimore

In today’s world of welfare, food stamps, government housing, and white guilt, Mr. Wilson doesn’t know any better than to ask for handouts from and to pass blame on white people.

But Baltimore elected its first black mayor in 1987. Today, the mayor, the police chief, the fire chief, and half the police force are black. Two thirds of the population and most of the city council are black.

Those neighborhoods Wilson complains of didn’t start out as slums. Whites saved and worked hard to build those neighborhoods. They maintained them, repaired them, and loved them. But after the riots in Baltimore in 1968, whites panicked and sold their property at desperation prices and fled.

Now those neighborhoods that were once filled with lovely and loved homes are wastelands of broken-down buildings inhabited by people who have been told by and have believed their evil Democrat overseers that they are doomed to be victims.
