The Old TV Westerns

This has absolutely no relevance to anything. Nobody remembers any of them except the baby boomers and we’re dying out. Soon, these memories will all be forgotten, replaced by violent, profane, politically-correct pap. So be it.
These are the shows I rushed home from school to see. The good guys (mostly) never killed anybody. They respected women, never made a mess, and we all pretended to be them when we played. There is no real purpose for this post… I just needed to do it.

The Johnny Yuma scattergun made by Remco is one of the rarest toy guns to find. I collected for almost 20 years and never saw one.

I love your cultural posts, Pete. Even this one, which is saying something since I was never a fan of Westerns. My dad loved to watch them and a lot of his paperbacks were in the genre also. 🙂

I remember it was a big deal when I was old enough to stay up for “Gunsmoke”. Lots of good memories!

Pete, my 9 year old daughter loves Westerns. The Rifleman is her favorite. I bought her a boxset for Christmas, she’s watched it so many times. She knows when all her favorite Westerns come on MeTV. You can not tear her away from the tv when Gunsmoke and Big Valley are on.

    • I can just see her watching Gunsmoke and Big Valley. That’s so cool.

It’s a whole lot better than the crap that passes for entertainment on regular TV.Except for football games I haven’t watched any of the networks in many years. There are Gunsmoke episodes on TVland, but they’re the 70’a episodes in color.I prefer the black and white shows myself.
