Two presidents; one current, one former. As water seeks its own level, so too do people ultimately settle into their comfort zone. What a difference a day makes. As a final FU to the country, Obama sent $221 million to Abbas and the Palestinian Authority. If you are worried about what he’s been doing the last three days, fear not…. he soldiers on.

Melania Trump Is Fashionable, But She’s Unlikely To Become A Fashion Icon Like Michelle Obama
Today, America gets a new First Lady. She’s beautiful – a former model! – with an impeccable wardrobe and the money to buy all the couture she wants. So why, when President Trump and his family are long out of the White House, and his administration is enshrined in the annals of history, will Michelle Obama – a woman with no connection to the fashion industry before she came into public view – be remembered as the more iconic of the two?
It’s simple. Becoming an icon is about more than just a pretty face and an international platform.
YEAH, A REAL FASHION ICON
Glad to see Obama go, Gulf Arabs expect Trump to counter Iran
Saudi Arabia in particular appears relieved at the departure of Barack Obama, who it felt considered Riyadh’s alliance with Washington less important than negotiating a deal in 2015 to neutralize Iran’s nuclear program.
The relationship is a pillar of the Middle East’s security balance. But it has suffered since Riyadh took issue with what it saw as Obama’s withdrawal from the region, and a perceived inclination towards Iran since the 2011 Arab uprisings.
MEANWHILE, WHAT DID TRUMP DO HIS FIRST FULL DAY IN OFFICE? OH, NOT MUCH
Teamsters Respond to TPP Withdrawal – PRAISE TRUMP!
“The Teamsters Union has been on the frontline of the fight to stop destructive trade deals like the TPP, China PNTR, CAFTA and NAFTA for decades. Millions of working men and women saw their jobs leave the country as free trade policies undermined our manufacturing industry.
We take this development as a positive sign that President Trump will continue to fulfill his campaign promises in regard to trade policy reform and instruct the USTR to negotiate future agreements that protect American workers and industry.”
AFL-CIO Praises President Trump’s Move to Withdraw from TPP, Renegotiate NAFTA, Target Big Pharma
Trump’s populist appeal to American workers in states like Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Ohio was critical to his landslide electoral college victory, when he stunned the bi-coastal political, financial, and cultural elites in places like New York City, Washington, D.C., and Los Angeles with a 306 electoral vote landslide win over Clinton on Nov. 8.

Trump Revives Reagan-Era Ban on Use of Foreign Aid for Abortion Counseling
Coming as one of Mr. Trump’s first executive orders, it was likely to please the anti-abortion lobby at home. But critics say it also symbolizes the new administration’s defiance of the women’s reproductive rights movement, an important force in the weekend protest marches in Washington and other cities that followed Mr. Trump’s inauguration.
Top US Executives Rave About Productive Meeting with President Trump at White House
Top executives from several US based companies raved about President Trump and his initiatives after meeting with the President on his first day of work in the White House.
Andrew Liveris from Dow Chemical and Mark Fields from Ford Motor Company cheered President Trump for his promise to cut regulations by 75%.
Freakout Of The Day: HuffPo Loudly Declares Men Screwed Women

Trump Wants To Cut Regulations By 75%
At the time Trump was sworn in on Friday, the Federal Register contained 89,535 regulations — many of which Republicans say are outdated and duplicative. Those regulations have piled up since the government’s rulebook launched in 1935.
Trump just made a vocal opponent of today’s ‘open internet’ laws the next FCC boss
While expected, the appointment aligns with signs that Trump’s FCC would roll back Obama-era policies — most notably the 2015 Open Internet Order, which set today’s net-neutrality rules.
Broadly speaking, those laws regulate the internet as a public utility. More practically, they’re meant to keep internet service providers from blocking or slowing down certain content — which could benefit services owned by an ISP itself — or forcing others to pay fees to receive preferential treatment.
Trump’s New CIA Director: “Jesus Christ Is The Only Solution For Our World”
Pompeo is a well-respected figure in the national security community. He is also an army veteran, and a staunch pro-life advocate.
Two years ago, Pompeo gave a church speech where he said Muslims who think Islam is “the only way” needed to be dealt with.
“These folks believe that it is religiously driven for them to wipe Christians from the face of the earth,” he added. “They abhor Christians,” he said of a small minority among Muslims.

MIC DROP MOMENT: Veteran Senator Asked By A Testy Sen. Schumer Where He Was 8 Years Ago: “Eight years ago, I was getting my ass shot at in Afghanistan”
Schumer told Cotton that the Senate had never previously confirmed a CIA director on Inauguration Day and if Cotton had been around eight years earlier, he’d know that Republicans didn’t extend that courtesy for incoming president Barack Obama. “Eight years ago, I was getting my ass shot at in Afghanistan,” Cotton snapped. “So don’t talk to me about where I was 8 years ago.”

US blasts 10 ISIS boats out of the water in Iraq
The Pentagon says U.S. airstrikes have taken out 143 of the boats that the Islamic State uses to move from one side of the city to the other now that all five bridges that cross the Tigris have been destroyed.
“Our message to ISIL is this: ‘We will not allow you to get away to the other side of the river, and set up shop there,’ ” Davis said.

New Front-Runner Emerges In SCOTUS Contest
Judge Neil Gorsuch of the 10th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals may be the leading candidate for President Donald Trump’s first appointment to the Supreme Court.
Gorsuch is seen by many as a safer pick for the appointment than Judge William Pryor, a conservative stalwart on the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals and favorite of Attorney General-designate Jeff Sessions.

One of my conservative Colorado friends is just thrilled about this possibility. She is crazy about Gorsuch. I wonder if Grunt has an opinion about this.

Grunt? Having an opinion? That seems unlikely. LOL! Actually, I don’t in this case. I’m not familiar enough with Gorsuch. Thanks for asking, though! 🙂

There are 2 islands that I really want to visit someday. One is a tiny one in the Pacific, and the other is Necker Island. I have seen Necker from the water. We sailed all around it as close as we dared back about 15 years ago, and friends got to spend 4 or 5 days there about 20 years ago. They were invited as the guests of some business friends and their photos were just amazing. I don’t like it that the Obamas have beat me there.

I don’t blame you, Ting. Necker Island is a beautiful place. And after reading about Sir Richard’s love for Barack in The Guardian, and his disdain for Trump, I don’t like it that I’m working on Sir Richard’s Virgin Galactic LauncherOne project right now, part time. I wonder if I can tell them to go pound sand without getting fired?
And I have to wonder whether Branson’s account of his meeting with Trump is believable.
https://www.virgin.com/richard-branson/meeting-donald-trump
On its face, it sounds pretty straightforward that Trump is a vindictive bastard. But Branson’s hung out with Obama quite a bit. Is Branson too stupid and clueless to know that Obama is one of the most vindictive men on the planet? Barack’s whole life has been a quest to stick it to “the Man,” whether the British Imperialist Man or the American Capitalist or just White Christian People in general. The account just doesn’t ring true.

It is interesting that he says Trump doesn’t talk about policy (this was back during the election, I gather). He was elected because he talked about what was wrong with the current policy. He sure is going 90 to nothing right out of the gate on policy now. I assume Branson does not agree with any of it, but you cannot deny that it is policy.

Exactly right, Ting. I really don’t trust Branson in this, but really, how could one trust anyone who threw in their lot with Hillary and Barack? There’s not that much gullibility in the world.
