Climate Scam

For more than a century, the United States Historical Climatology Network (USHCN) has recorded daily maximum and minimum temperatures from stations across the United States. And, according to these stations, global warming is happening. The number of stations reached its maximum of 1,218 in 1957. However, after 1990, aging equipment and personnel retirements led to more and more of them becoming inactive.

At this point, more than 30% of those 1,218 stations no longer exist in real life. But rather than eliminate them from their data base, the NOAA invents temperature data for them. The site NOAA Crappy @ https://noaacrappy.github.io/zombie-map/ shows a map of the active (green) and zombie (red) weather stations. If you go there, you can hover your cursor over each station and see exactly where it is and click links to its climate data report and location on Google Maps.

The zombies’ data is allegedly based on guesstimates from the nearest active stations. But some of these “nearby” stations are actually very far away! Just one example that I picked at random is the defunct station in Apalachicola, Florida, which is right on the coast of the Gulf of Mexico. It went defunct eleven years ago, yet still records monthly temperature temperature maximums and minimums.

These estimates are apparently compiled based on the readings from “nearby” active stations. The nearest active stations are in:

  1. Fairhope, Alabama: 200+ miles north-west, near the east coast of Mobile Bay.
  2. Lake City, Florida: 200 miles east, just south of the Osceola National Forest.
  3. Camilla, Georgia: 150 miles northeast in a land-locked rural area.

N.b., there are at least eight other defunct stations in the same area that are taking their estimates off this handful of active stations!

To put the absurdity into perspective … we live 15 miles from Ithaca, New York, a city of about 32,000 full-time residents, plus tens of thousands of Cornell University and Ithaca College students. Ithaca is bounded by hills on the east, south, and west sides and by Cayuga Lake to the north. By contrast, we live on a windy hill in dairy country. Spring routinely appears in Ithaca a week ahead of us here in Dryden. The graphic above shows the current and predicted weather for the two areas. You’ll note the 2 degree difference in temperature is consistent, except for when Ithaca will have cloud cover (common because of the hills and lake) whereas we will have wind (also common because we live in a wide-open area that is used largely for grazing and crops). Then the temperature differential will go up to 3 degrees. We are fifteen miles away from each other.

Lt. Col. John Shewchuk is a certified consulting forensic meteorologist, who has produced expert witness reports for legal cases. He says, “I only used official ‘NOAA certified’ original weather data observations. If I were to use ‘altered’ or ‘fabricated’ data, I would have been thrown out of court.

Climate alarmists (like those at the NOAA) are deliberately using this bogus data to justify forcing a lot of expensive and socially destructive policies on American citizens. If it weren’t so evil, it would be amusing.
