UK Telegraph Apologizes Bigly
Following last Saturday’s (Jan 19) Telegraph magazine cover story “The mystery of Melania”, we have been asked to make clear that the article contained a number of false statements which we accept should not have been published. Mrs Trump’s father was not a fearsome presence and did not control the family. Mrs Trump did not leave her Design and Architecture course at University relating to the completion of an exam, as alleged in the article, but rather because she wanted to pursue a successful career as a professional model. Mrs Trump was not struggling in her modelling career before she met Mr Trump, and she did not advance in her career due to the assistance of Mr Trump.
We accept that Mrs Trump was a successful professional model in her own right before she met her husband and obtained her own modelling work without his assistance. Mrs Trump met Mr Trump in 1998, not in 1996 as stated in the article. The article also wrongly claimed that Mrs Trump’s mother, father and sister relocated to New York in 2005 to live in buildings owned by Mr Trump. They did not. The claim that Mrs Trump cried on election night is also false.
We apologise unreservedly to The First Lady and her family for any embarrassment caused by our publication of these allegations. As a mark of our regret we have agreed to pay Mrs Trump substantial damages as well as her legal costs.

TO SOTU OR NOT TO SOTU: That is the question — President Donald Trump sent a letter to Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi saying that, since there are no security concerns regarding the State of the Union speech, he would be “honoring” Pelosi’s earlier invitation to deliver the speech as scheduled on January 29. Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi just responded with a letter saying he will not be allowed to deliver a State of the Union speech from the House floor until after the government has reopened.

TEA: I just learned something useful. After my kidneys failed in 2016 (they’re doing much better now, thank you!), I switched from coffee to tea. Lately, I’ve been trying to cut down on the caffeine by alternating my favorite black tea with a variety of herbals. I’ve discovered I ❤ rooibos (aka, red bush) tea, which is the preferred beverage of Precious Ramotswe, one of my favorite female detectives.
Recently, I purchased some jasmine tea, which I thought would be a gourmet treat, but the first time I made it, it tasted unpleasantly bitter. But then I was reading a new series of murder mysteries that are set in a tea shop. The master brewer was giving a lesson and mentioned that delicate teas like jasmine should not be brewed for more than 2 minutes tops. He also explained that the right time to pour the boiling water is when the tiny bubbles are starting to give way to big bubbles. Continue reading

MASCOTS: Dearest was going to come home yesterday, but the snow, snow, and more snow. I’ve got power, food, and internet, so I’m fine. And the mascots clearly aren’t minding more time with Nonno! I haven’t heard about their weather yet this morning; looking out my own window revealed a solid blanket of snow as far as the eye could see. They were able to get to the Maryland Science Center in Baltimore yesterday, but plan to stay home after Mass today and continue letting Nonno doze off as desired. The march really wore him out. Tomorrow is a federal holiday, so no DC traffic; he’s planning to get up early and drive home in time to dig me out before it gets dark. Our wonderful neighbor took his big snow blower to our driveway, but there’s still 18″ blocking both doors and the front path that I absolutely should not even attempt to shovel.
