Somebody is getting some good out of Obama’s fiasco. Wellmark Blue Cross Blue Shield is running a trio of ads in Iowa and South Dakota mocking the glitchy Healthcare.gov site.
“Just visit Wellmark.com/simple or call today. Not only does the website have the word ‘simple’ in its address, it actually works.”
Next autumn, 50 to 100 MILLION Americans who are employed by small businesses (500 or fewer employees) will have their employer-based health insurance policies canceled — right before the mid-term elections.
The Obama administration has tried to downplay this autumn’s round of policy cancellations by belittling the “small percentage” of Americans who buy insurance privately and blaming “greedy” insurance companies.
That “small percentage” represents 15 MILLION Americans.
Employer-provided health insurance is an anomaly, so let’s put this in terms of cars and car insurance. Most of us buy and insure our own vehicles, right?
When Obama sneers at those who bought independent health insurance, he’s saying they were just too DUMB to do what most of us do with our car insurance.
As for the allegedly “greedy” insurance companies … when Pelosi and other ObamaCare apologists say, “There’s nothing in the ACA that forced insurance companies to cancel policies”, they’reliterally telling the truth.
And they’re totally lying out their liar holes.
I know some people get a vehicle with their jobs. Some people also get housing with their jobs. And just think how screwed they are when they lose those jobs or just decide it’s time for a change. It’s bad enough quitting or getting fired. Some folks stay in jobs they hate because they can’t risk losing their health coverage.
Freeing people from the yoke of employer-based health insurance was at the heart of the Republican plans in 2010 … all half dozen that were proposed and that the Democrats and media shouted over and over did not exist.
According to Democrats, the ONLY solution to any problem is to give the government more power, more money and more control over our lives. Did you vote Democrat?How’s that working out for you?
Lost your insurance policy yet? Had your favorite doctor cut out of the policy you’re now permitted by the Nazis at the Dept of HHS? Can you even afford that policy’s high premiums and higher deductibles? How about the alternative of no insurance, which would mean health care will be out of pocket and you’ll be taxed thousands of dollars per year for not having bought that policy you hate and can’t afford?
Krauthammer’s Take: Obamacare Arbitrary System ‘Nobody Else Has Devised in History of Man’ [1:55]
The guy heading up a group being paid to enroll people in ObamaCare is caught on film conspiring to get private data from enrollees to give to an Obama PAC for use in campaigning for Democrats. He also admits this type of thing has happened in the past. The meat of the exposé is on the first 15 minutes. The rest is the full, raw video from which the exposé footage was taken.
Remember during the “debate” over Obamacare, we were told that without access to health care, those 15 million people would be dying in the streets? It’s been over 3 years since it was signed into law, waivered and delayed in numerous sections, yet I still can’t find those stacks of corpses that we’re supposed to have as a result of them not having health care. ~Tugboat Phil
The one thing Øbama was always good at was raising money at glitterati fund-raisers. It seems even that star is fading. The DNC just sent out this email about his next such appearance:
“An exciting new update I would love to mention is that we have reduced the price for the general admission luncheon tickets to $500/person. In addition, all current $1000 ticket holders will be upgraded to VIP (this includes premium seating near the stage and Presidential rope line access).”
What this amounts to is a guy in a cheesy suit standing in front of ginormous FIRE SALE!! signs, screaming annoyingly about how you must come down Right This Minute!! because Everything Is Half Off!! for a Limited Time Only!!
WaPo/ABC News poll of Registered Voters shows 8 point shift to Romney:
NOW – If election were today – Obama 45% vs. Romney 49%
NOV 2012 ELECTION results – Obama 51% vs. Romney 47%
In 2012 exit polls, Obama led with women voters by 11 points. In the WaPo poll, it’s one point.
Remember when SCOTUS ruled 5-4 that the IRS fine in ObamaCare was a tax, so therefore, it was constitutional? Roberts may not have been selling out, but instead going for a longer, surer end to the monstrous law.
As I understand it, the fine/tax challenge SCOTUS ruled on was somewhat limited; ruling against it wouldn’t have killed the whole law. But ruling it a tax could potentially kill the whole thing dead, Dead, DEAD … because the Constitution says revenue-raising bills (i.e., tax laws) must originate in the House of Representatives and the ACA “Obamacare” bill originated in the Senate.
Sissel v. U.S. Department of Health and Human Services challenges ObamaCare on this basis. The lowest court found for Obama and it’s now before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia.
More than 40 members of the House have signed onto the lawsuit saying, “Given that an Origination Clause challenge against a taxing bill of this magnitude has never before been mounted, it is imperative that this Court not sanction the lower court’s superficial analysis of the Origination Clause.”
“Since the 2010 elections, the people’s immediate representatives have voted some 40 times to repeal or defund the ACA, but the senators, who sit for six years unchallenged, have never agreed. The Framers’ exact fear of taxation without adequate representation has materialized due to the complete disregard of the mandates of the Origination Clause by the U.S. Senate.”
“I know more about policies on any particular issue than my policy directors.”
Well, apart from his signature health-care policy. That’s a mystery to him.
“I was not informed directly that the website would not be working,” he told us.
The buck stops with something called “the executive branch,” which is apparently nothing to do with him. As evidence that he was entirely out of the loop, he offered this:
“Had I been I informed, I wouldn’t be going out saying, ‘Boy, this is going to be great.’ You know, I’m accused of a lot of things, but I don’t think I’m stupid enough to go around saying, ‘This is going to be like shopping on Amazon or Travelocity,’ a week before the website opens, if I thought that it wasn’t going to work.”
Ooooo-kay. So, if I follow correctly,
the smartest president ever is not smart enough to ensure that his website works;
he’s not smart enough to inquire of others as to whether his website works;
he’s not smart enough to check that his website works before he goes out and tells people what a great website experience they’re in for.
But he is smart enough to know that he’s not stupid enough to go around bragging about how well it works if he’d already been informed that it doesn’t work.
So he’s smart enough to know that if he’d known what he didn’t know he’d know enough not to let it be known that he knew nothing.
