The Most Amazing Speech — A Synopsis

Apologies in advance for the probable mess this is going to be. In full disclosure I’d managed to miss every presidential speech over the past eight years. This was due in large part to the fact his voice made me sick to my stomach and the lies that poured out of his skull gave me constipation.

THE ENTIRE EVENING WRAPPED UP IN TWO IMAGES:

I WATCHED THE ENTIRE SPEECH. TEARS WERE ROLLING DOWN MY FACE WHEN HE RECOGNIZED THIS BEAUTIFUL WIFE OF A SLAIN WARRIOR

Widow of Navy SEAL killed in Yemen hailed by Trump

Of all the moments from President Trump’s first address to Congress, the most riveting piece of political theater was his tribute to the widow of fallen Navy SEAL William “Ryan” Owens. The president’s critics and supporters alike admired it.

Midway through his speech, the president gestured to Owens‘ widow, Carryn, who was a guest in the balcony seated with presidential daughter Ivanka Trump.

“We are blessed to be joined tonight by Carryn Owens,” Mr. Trump said. “Ryan died as he lived: a warrior, and a hero –- battling against terrorism and securing our nation. Ryan’s legacy is etched into eternity. For as the Bible teaches us, there is no greater act of love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. Ryan laid down his life for his friends, for his country, and for our freedom –- we will never forget him.”

Five Minute Ovation for Trump but Pouty Democrats Sit on Their Butts

Pelosi and House Dems to Wear White in Protest of Trump

MSNBC host Andrea Mitchell asked Pelosi, who was wearing white and purple, about how Democrats would behave during Trump’s speech and if her wearing white was a form of silent protest.
Pelosi however, used a different term to refer to her decision to wear white and purple.
“It’s not even a protest. It’s a statement of values,” Pelosi said. “It associates ourselves with our suffragette mothers, the color of white, the color purple.”

Liberals Attack SEAL’s Widow, President Trump Over Tribute
Some liberals used the emotional moment to attack both the president and the grieving widow.
Tweets attacking the president and Carryn Owens are screen captured below.

THE DEPTH OF THE LEFT’S DEPRAVITY SINKS DEEPER EVERY PASSING DAY
Pelosi Tells House Members to Treat Trump Voters Like a Friend With a ‘Jerk’ Boyfriend
“The way I told my members: It’s like telling your friend the guy she’s dating is a jerk,” she said.
She explained that, after a while, the friend will put two and two together and leave the “jerk” boyfriend.
“You can’t tell her that,” Pelosi said. “She has to find out for herself. You can give her clues and then eventually one thing will lead to another, she’ll come to her conclusion.”

Voters say Democrats hurting party, nation with scorched-earth anti-Trump tactics: Poll

trumpThe Democratic Party’s never-ending anti-Trump siege isn’t just bad for the country, it’s also hurting Democrats with the voters.
A Rasmussen Reports poll released Tuesday found that 63 percent of those surveyed said it was better for the country as well as the Democratic Party for Democrats to work with President Trump instead of countering him at every turn.
Just 29 percent agreed that it’s better for the party and the nation for Democrats to oppose Mr. Trump “in every way possible.”

Trump just delivered the best speech of his political career
Donald Trump gave the best speech of his short political life last night, and it had nothing to do with grand oratory. He was thoroughly presidential, speaking plainly and yet masterfully in projecting an optimistic vision of the America he aims to build.
It is a vision so optimistic and encompassing that even steaming Democrats had to join boisterous Republicans in the applause at times.

Trump Rips Obama for Lying About Obamacare in First Address to Congress

Trump Acknowledges American Veterans, Says Its Time To Deliver For Them
My budget will also increase funding for our veterans.
Our veterans have delivered for this Nation — and now we must deliver for them.
The challenges we face as a Nation are great. But our people are even greater.
And none are greater or braver than those who fight for America in uniform.

Disturbing Photo Of Elderly Veteran Lying On The Floor Of VA Facility In Pain Sparks Outrage
THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR THIS. VETERANS SHOULD BE CARED FOR BETTER THAN STINKING ILLEGALS. THEY PAID FOR THEIR MEDICAL CARE… IN ADVANCE
Durham, North Carolina- An elderly veteran was at a VA facility waiting for hours to be seen by a doctor when he was overwhelmed by pain and decided to lay on the floor.
A witness in the waiting room captured photos of the veteran and posted them to her Facebook page. She said that a nurse was yelling at him to get off of the floor.

Believe in America: Trump reboots his presidency with condemnation of hatred, a rousing vision of what country can be by 250th anniversary of independence and a heartbreaking appearance by the widow of SEAL hero

New U.S. leader channeled Kennedy to speak of the ‘courage to share the dreams that fill our hearts’
But bluntly political speech also tells the House and the Senate to take action on his agenda
He told them to ‘increase funding for our veterans,’ pass ‘historic tax reform’, ‘repeal and replace Obamacare,’ and ‘help ensure new parents have paid family leave’
Trump refused to back down on immigration saying: ‘what would you say to the American family that loses their jobs, their income, or their loved one?’
Opening sentences of speech robustly condemned anti-Semitic attacks and allegedly racially motivated Kansas City shooting of two Indian men
Democratic women wore white in reference to fight for suffrage and made thumbs down gestures to speech

President Trump: ‘Education Is the Civil Rights Issue of Our Time’
Trump invited Denisha Merriweather to be a guest in the gallery.
“As a young girl, Denisha struggled in school and failed third grade twice,” the president said. “But then she was able to enroll in a private center for learning, with the help of a tax credit scholarship program.”
In an op-ed in the Wall Street Journal in October of 2014, Denisha said Florida’s tax-credit scholarship program “saved” her.
“Today, she is the first in her family to graduate, not just from high school, but from college,” Trump continued. “Later this year she will get her masters degree in social work.”

President Trump orders federal agency for ‘American victims’ of crimes committed by ‘illegal’ immigrants
A chorus of boos arose after President Trump announced during his Tuesday speech before Congress that he will install an office specifically serving victims of “illegal” immigrants.
“I have ordered the Department of Homeland Security to create an office to serve American victims,” Trump said, prompting groans and boos from assembled Democrats. “The office is called VOICE — Victims of Immigration Crime Engagement. We are providing a voice to those who have been ignored by our media, and silenced by special interests.”
The President didn’t deliberate on what exact role the “VOICE” office would play, but instead turned the attention to four audience members: Jamiel Shaw, Susan Oliver, Jenna Oliver and Jessica Davis.

Pelosi Doesn’t Clap After Trump Talks About American Job Creation

Trump’s speech and our infantile left
Like spoiled children who had not gotten their way, they refused to applaud at the most obvious good-for-the-country lines. In fact, they were like a clique of mean girls in middle school who have decided to target one of their own.
They knew what they were hearing was monumental and good for the nation. But consumed in schoolyard jealousy, they got angry, not glad. In doing so, they showed no intention of working “with” President Trump. They are still scrambling for, and planning to sabotage him any way they can.
They proved one thing: They do not have America’s best interests at heart.

Trump: ‘My Job is Not to Represent the World; My Job is to Represent the United States of America’
And, in a line that drew strong applause – although only from the Republican side of the chamber – he added, “My job is not to represent the world; my job is to represent the United States of America.”
While Democratic lawmakers gave a tepid response to that part of Tuesday night’s speech, they did join in a standing ovation when Trump endorsed the historic alliance with NATO, though tempered with a nudge for allies to pay more.
“We expect our partners,” the president continued, “whether in NATO, in the Middle East, or the Pacific, to take a direct and meaningful role in both strategic and military operations, and pay their fair share of the cost. Have to do that.”

MSNBC Panel Mocks Democratic Party Response to Trump’s Joint Address

Pelosi Proud Of Dignity Shown By Democrats During Trump’s Speech Despite Protests

Is February 28, 2017, ‘The Night the Democratic Party Died’?
The Democratic Party members watching that speech looked like a party of the living dead. They didn’t know how to react. They didn’t know if they were Americans. They didn’t know who they were.
Every time Trump called for bipartisanship for the good of our country, they winced. They couldn’t stand it and didn’t know how to react because they are the least bipartisan people in the world and they scarcely know what cooperating is.

Whose Side Are You On? Carlson Notes Democrats Groaned When Trump Introduced Victims Of Immigrant Crimes
“They didn’t greet him when he walked in, they didn’t applaud when he said we’re going to put American interests first, they groaned when he brought up the victims of immigrant crime, raising the obvious question whose side are you on exactly,” he said.

Democrats Sit on Hands as Trump Pleads for Cooperation
The freeze-out was nearly total. Democrats who had lined the aisles in recent years to be seen hugging President George W. Bush and President Obama as they strode to the rostrum hung back Tuesday night, leaving the president to shake hands almost exclusively with Republicans.

Hilarious: Trump’s Speech So Powerful, Person Who Delivered Dem Response Now Calls Himself A Republican

The Democratic Rebuttal To Trump’s Speech Is Everything Wrong With The Democratic Party
Beshear giving the speech is in itself an admission of failure. You know who’s not giving the speech? The young, promising, telegenic former Kentucky Attorney General Jack Conway, who was the presumptive heir to Beshear’s office until he was defeated by double digits by Tea Party candidate Matt Bevin.
Polling for Medicaid expansion and KYnect (the Kentucky exchange) is not as terrible as it is elsewhere, which is not saying much. But it also can’t be ignored that the state elected Bevin, who ran on dismantling the whole thing.
The Republican Party still faces political landmines in its tricky repeal-and-replace plan. But on Tuesday, a septuagenarian former Kentucky governor with a folksy demeanor was simultaneously a laudable recognition by the Democratic Party of who it needs to reach and a devastating admission of how ill-equipped they are to do so. The future’s so bright, they gotta wear bifocals.

Unity and Strength

I love how Melania got a standing ovation and a big cheer!  Pay attention to how many of the president’s statements got standing ovations and who SAT through them, even when they were as generic as “we are a nation that condemns hate in all its ugly forms.”

Trump’s First Presidential Address to Congress – Full Speech

News, Too

Tonight is President Trump’s first formal address to a joint session of Congress.

Rosie O’Donnell to Lead Anti-Trump Protest Outside White House
CHAIN HER TO THE BUFFET TABLE… PROBLEM SOLVED
The rally — dubbed “A Resistance Address: Defending American Values in a Time of Moral Crisis” — is set to begin Tuesday at 6 p.m. Eastern.
O’Donnell’s decade-long public feud with Trump reached a new low after the election when the former View host shared a video on social media that questioned whether or not Trump’s youngest son, Barron, was autistic. While O’Donnell eventually apologized to Melania Trump for attacking her 10-year-old, the 54-year comedienne ratcheted up her criticism of Trump’s administration.

Democrats Prepare to Troll President Trump During Major Speech to Congress
Each legislator is allowed a handful of tickets for the public gallery, so that interested constituents and guests can be present for what is typically the President’s most important speech of the year.
This year, Democrats will be using their tickets as part of an organized effort to invite the families of illegal immigrants, DREAMers protected by former President Obama’s executive orders on immigration, and Muslim-Americans they claim will be harmed by Trump’s temporary travel ban. (A court has stayed Trump’s travel ban.)

Dems bringing young undocumented immigrants to Trump’s speech
Rep. Ami Bera (D-Calif.) is bringing Alfredo Rivas, a 25-year-old student who came from El Salvador at the age of 13 and wants to be an immigration attorney.
“When people ask me where I’m from, I say ‘California’ but I have worried every day since the election that my family or I could get deported at any time,” Rivas said in a statement.

Trump’s joint session speech to feature anecdotes from listening sessions
“A lot of what went into this came from the sit-downs and listening sessions that President Trump has done with healthcare industry leaders, law enforcement officials, union representatives and coal miners,” a senior White House official told reporters Monday night in reference to the president’s upcoming speech.

The official said Trump is still working with his team to put finishing touches on the major speech which will focus renewing “the American spirit” and providing “an optimistic vision for real Americans.”

“Americans have been waiting for help from their leaders for too long and during his speech the president will let them know that help is on the way,” the official said.

Widow of Murdered Police Officer Invited to Attend Trump’s Address to Congress
Elizabeth Snyder, the wife of murdered St. Louis County police officer Blake Snyder, has been invited by President Donald Trump to attend his address to Congress on Tuesday.
Snyder said she is honored to be invited to sit in House chambers and looks forward to what Trump will say about law enforcement, Fox 2 in St. Louis reported Monday.
Snyder’s husband was killed while responding to a disturbance call on the evening of Oct. 6.
Police believe Blake Snyder was shot dead after he asked to see 18-year-old Trenton Forster’s hands.
He was rushed to the hospital but later succumbed to his injuries.

Trump invites families of those killed by illegal immigrants to speech
President Trump has invited the family members of those killed by illegal immigrants and the widow of Justice Antonin Scalia to attend his address to a joint session of Congress on Tuesday night.

Maureen McCarthy Scalia will attend the speech, along with Jessica Davis and Susan Oliver — both widows of California police officers killed by an illegal immigrant in 2014.
The president is expected to highlight his campaign to deport illegal immigrants who have committed crimes in the United States.

Times presents ‘news’ that’s just propaganda for Bam
Want to know why President Trump rails about a “dishonest” press? Consider a Page One “news” story in Monday’s New York Times.
The headline, “Widespread Cuts in Trump Budget Bypass Military,” suggests news about the president’s spending plans. But the piece never says much about them — because it gets lost recalling the glories of President Barack Obama to rebut Trump’s claim that he inherited a “mess.”
By the time Obama gave his first speech to Congress (Trump gives his Tuesday), the Times claims, he already had an “impressive string of accomplishments,” including “actions that would ultimately help stabilize the financial and automotive sectors.”
Uh, no: Congress OK’d the $700 billion Troubled Asset Relief Program while George W. Bush was president, and it was TARP that calmed the financial crisis. And the $800 billion “stimulus package” Obama pushed through in his first weeks was a flop. He himself later admitted those “shovel-ready jobs” didn’t exist.

Truth Doesn’t Matter to The New York Times
FROM THE NRA…THE MOST WORTHWHILE 1:15 YOU’LL SPEND TODAY. I PROMISE.

There’s a new boss in town

And the Obama Sheeple know it.  According to Hot Air,  EPA employees were so upset after Trump won that they had to take sick leave.  And a few days ago, an unnamed employee reported more than a few friends were still coming to work in tears.

2017_01-28-trump-epa-by-terrell

But for those who are more committed to science than to politics, things are looking up.  In December, the House Science, Space and Technology Committee issued a report on their investigation into the firing of an Energy Department scientist.

The committee determined there to be an institutional disregard for separation of powers that amounted to “a reckless and calculated attack on the legislative process itself, which undermines the power of Congress to legislate.”

“Institutional disregard” is a polite way of saying that the Obama administration was so determined to have its own way that it actually forbade Energy Dept scientists from giving Congress information about their work and fired one who gave Congress information requested.

Rep. Lamar Smith, R-Texas, chairman of the committee, said, “In this staff report based on lengthy record before the committee, much has been revealed about how senior level agency officials under the Obama administration retaliated against a scientist who did not follow the party line.”

“Moving forward, the department needs to overhaul its management practices to ensure that Congress is provided the information it requires to legislate and that federal employees and scientists who provide that information do so without fear of retribution.”

Ridiculous Republicans Raise My Blood Pressure!

So far, at least 19 Republicans have announced opposition to or questioned Trump’s executive order banning travelers and refugees from 7 countries from entering the U.S.  Their statements are mostly b.s. and lies.

my-grammy-read-the-eo

Sen. John McCain: “There’s so much confusion out there,” McCain said on “Face the Nation.” “Obviously this process and these conclusions were not vetted.” He warned the order could be used as propaganda by ISIS for recruiting.

[So instead of using your bully pulpit to INFORM VOTERS what’s actually in the executive order, you promote the Democrats’ hyperbole and fake news.  Well done, Senator RINO.  You schmuck.]

Rep. Carlos Curbelo: “I expect that these executive orders are in fact temporary and that once the Administration strengthens the vetting process, we can continue our tradition of welcoming those who are persecuted in an orderly manner and without any kind of religious test.”

[“I expect …”  Duh, yeah, cuz THAT’S WHAT THE EXECUTIVE ORDER SAYS, you ignorant blowhard!]

Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen: “I object to the suspension of visas from the seven named countries because we could have accomplished our objective of keeping our homeland safe by immediate implementation of more thorough screening procedures.”

[And all the years that Obama did NOT implement the screening procedures that were recommended, you were doing what with your mouth and your congressional position?]

Rep. Charlie Dent: “This is ridiculous. I guess I understand what his intention is, but unfortunately the order appears to have been rushed through without full consideration. You know, there are many, many nuances of immigration policy that can be life or death for many innocent, vulnerable people around the world.”

[Right.  Like that Iraqi guy who was killed waiting for his visa during Obama’s BAN ON REFUGEES FROM IRAQ.]

Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick: “While we certainly need to enhance our current vetting process and significantly reform our immigration policies to make sure terrorists are not exploiting our nation’s proud tradition of freedom and acceptance, the President’s policy entirely misses the mark.”

[And your plan would be what exactly?]

Rep. Justin Amash: “It’s not lawful to ban immigrants on basis of nationality. If the president wants to change immigration law, he must work with Congress.”

[Obama banned Iraqis.  Plus, coming in to this country is a privilege, not a right. Just like it is if one of us tries to go to some other country.  Plus, where were you when Obama was ordering LEOs to IGNORE IMMIGRATION LAW?]

Rep. Barbara Comstock: “The President’s Executive Order issued yesterday went beyond the increased vetting actions that Congress has supported.”

[Too bad none of you made any of that stuff happen while Obama was squatting in the WH.]

Sen. Susan Collins: “The worldwide refugee ban set forth in the executive order is overly broad and implementing it will be immediately problematic.

[Oh COME ON!! It’s not a “worldwide refugee ban”, you stupid cow!  It’s seven nations and it’s for a specific amount of time while we shore up our vetting process!  READ THE ORDER, DAMMIT!]

Sen. Jeff Flake: “It’s unacceptable when even legal permanent residents are being detained or turned away at airports and ports of entry.”

[And these legal permanent residents were, ummmm, lemme think, vetted and allowed in, right?  Oh yeah.  That’s what I thought.  So big f*ing deal.  Some folks got delayed at the airport.  Small price to pay to keep suicide bombers out.]

Sen. Ben Sasse: “If we send a signal to the Middle East that the U.S. sees all Muslims as jihadis, the terrorist recruiters win by telling kids that America is banning Muslims and that this is America versus one religion. Our generational fight against jihadism requires wisdom.”

[Asshat.  Don’t use a minute of your time in the press spotlight to CLARIFY what the order actually says, cuz that would be like, I dunno, too pro-Trumpish or something?]

Sen. Rob Portman: “This was an extreme vetting program that wasn’t properly vetted.”

[This is NOT A VETTING PROGRAM.  Did you even read the order?  I did!  It’s posted here:

http://edition.cnn.com/2017/01/28/politics/text-of-trump-executive-order-nation-ban-refugees/

And if that’s too COMPLICATED for you, Mr. Senator, cuz of all the big words, you can read the simplified version I wrote and posted here:

https://polination.wordpress.com/2017/01/29/protecting-u-s-from-terrorists/%5D

Sen. Cory Gardner: “I urge the Administration to take the appropriate steps to fix this overly broad executive order.”

[See what I said to Senator Portman.]

Sen. Bob Corker: “[T]his executive order has been poorly implemented, especially with respect to green card holders.”

[Green card holders aren’t affected.  Butthead.  READ THE DAMN ORDER!]

Sen. Lindsey Graham: “Such a hasty process risks harmful results…. And we should not turn our backs on those refugees who have been shown through extensive vetting to pose no demonstrable threat to our nation, and who have suffered unspeakable horrors, most of them women and children.” (in a statement with John McCain)

[The order allows for case-by-case exceptions.  READ THE DAMN ORDER!]

Rep. Elise Stefanik: “I oppose President Trump’s rushed and overly broad Executive Order.”

[READ THE DAMN ORDER!]

Sen. Lamar Alexander: “This vetting proposal itself needed more vetting.”

[Oh, wow.  THAT’s really perspicacious /sarc. Oh wait.  You’re too dumb to know any big words.  Well, google it.  Or do you not know how to use the internet?]

Rep. Will Hurd: “This visa ban is the ultimate display of mistrust and will erode our allies’ willingness to fight with us.”

[Bullsh*t.]

Rep. Mike Coffman: “While I’ve supported heightened vetting procedures for those wanting to travel to our country, I have never, nor will I ever support a blanket travel ban for people solely based on ethnic or religious grounds.”

[OH FOR CRYING OUT LOUD. READ THE DAMN ORDER.  IT ISN’T A BLANKET TRAVEL BAN AND IT DOES NOT TARGET ANYONE BY ETHNIC OR RELIGION. ARGHHHHHHHHHHH!!!]

Gov. John Kasich: “In probably many Arab capitals today, people are like, ‘What is America doing?’ He told WashPo.

[Why the hell don’t you use your exalted position as governor to INFORM THEM.  But lemme guess … you didn’t read the order yourself, right?  You just caught what some Democrat blowhard said on MSNBC?]

Stupid people don’t violate their own party’s wishes.  Corrupt people do.  And the most likely reason a corrupt person would say stupid and deceitful things that are in lock-step with the most extreme factions of the OTHER party is blackmail.

By their fruits we shall know them.  Their fruits tell me that Democrats have got something on these Ridiculous Republicans and will destroy their careers if they don’t march to the tunes played by the Progressive Nazi Collaborator George Soros.

Building the Wall

obama-on-national-security

Trump’s order to start building the wall is not by-passing Congress.  Back in 2006, Congress passed a law authorizing the construction of 700 miles of fencing along the southern border, as well as additional lights, cameras and sensors to enhance security.

Then, Democrats got control of Congress a few months later and put an amendment into a 2008 spending bill that took all the teeth out of the 2006 law.

IOW, Democrats buried an unpopular measure they wanted inside a spending bill so they could avoid standing up and taking responsibility for blocking something Americans want done.

But, and this is a big but, the original law was never repealed.  Congress doesn’t have to pass a new law to begin construction.  All they have to do is package the funds necessary to build the original and substantial law into a massive spending bill.

Democrats would have a politically hard time blocking construction, since it would require them to block the spending bill and shut down the government, something they mocked Republicans for doing in the past.

Barack Obama, Joe Biden and Hillary Clinton all voted for the 2006 law.  So did Chuck Schumer and a whole host of other Democrats in the House and Senate, many of whom are still in Congress.

President Trump has said the wall will be from 35 to 50 feet high and made of pre-cast concrete.  He also plans to figure out a way to make Mexico pay for it.
