Amuse Yeux

By Chrissy the Hyphenated [click graphics to embiggen for easier reading]

I’ve been graphicking up a storm … way too much new stuff to put it ALL up here, so I thought I’d do something like what we GOP Bitter Clingers call Pot Luck and Democrats snootily refer to as Amuse Bouche.

But since it’s for Chrissy’s Site Bites, I thought I’d call it Amuse Yeux cuz I took French once upon a time. And I know how to Google Translate what I don’t remember from Madame Diamond.

So … did you get it? Amuse yeux, delight the eyes? Sound bite, bite sized ideas in graphics, sight bites? A web site for sight bites = site bites?

I figgered you conservative bumpkins might need it explained. [Not really. Just feeling snarky after graphicking all this nastiness from the oh-so-tolerant elitist Left.]

Nice little business you got here… Be a shame if anything happened to it…

Union thugs in Wisconsin are training their sights on businesses owned by citizens who had the effrontery to contribute to Scott Walker’s campaign for governor. The thugs are offering Walker donors the opportunity to atone for their sins by now publicly opposing the governor and his efforts to limit collective bargaining for public employees in Wisconsin. If the business owners who supported Walker refuse to do as the union thugs demand, their businesses will be targeted (yes, I used that word) for boycott.

Here is an excerpt from the letter that the union thugs sent to the business owners:

“While we appreciate that you may need some time to consider this request, we ask for your response by March 17. In the event that you do not respond to this request by that date, we will assume that you stand with Governor Walker and against the teachers, nurses, police officers, fire fighters, and other dedicated public employees who serve our communities.

“In the event that you cannot support this effort to save collective bargaining, please be advised that the undersigned will publicly and formally boycott the goods and services provided by your company.  However, if you join us, we will do everything in our power to publicly celebrate your partnership in the fight to preserve the right of public employees to be heard at the bargaining table.”

You can read the whole letter here.

Waivers for everyone!

posted by Bob

Last time I checked, about a hundred companies, a whole gaggle of unions, and several states had requested and received Obamacare waivers. Twenty-six states (or is it twenty-seven? I lose count) have sued to have the law struck down, and at least one governor has announced that he will not implement Obamacare in his state. So far, two federal judges have declared the law unconstitutional.

You want to know what else is unconstitutional? This business of handing out waivers to certain favored people and groups, but denying them to others. I was born during the Eisenhower administration, when school children still studied the U.S. Constitution, so I know the state cannot legally deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws. If some folks are granted waivers, while others are denied them, that is a clear violation of the equal protection guarantee.

Obamacare is one of the worst ideas ever to be jammed down the throats of an unwilling populace. If Congress does not repeal it, or the Supreme Court does not strike it down, then all of us should flood Washington DC with demands for waivers. If we don’t receive them, then we should initiate one hell of a gigantic class action lawsuit, claiming that we were denied equal protection of the law.

That’s my prescription.

Friday’s Path – February 25th, 2011

by Mafia Rose

A Story in Politics and Growing Up…

I went out to dinner last night with my husband and two kids. While we waited for our food, I played a few games on the kids’ menu with my daughter, who’s four. At one point, I lost focus and accidentally won a game (Oh no!). Well, boy could you hear from just about anywhere in the restaurant, how upset she was and how, “It’s not fair!”

I calmly explained to her that she can’t win every game and that she will just have to try again next time. That wasn’t working, and the fit continued. So, I gently informed her that I was done playing games for the night, because “I don’t like to play games with people who get angry when they lose.” Without missing a beat, she replied, “Well, I don’t like to play games with people who win!”

I’m ready to register her with the Democrat party.

Or…maybe I’ll sign her up with the Wisconsin teachers’ union.

You see, as we grow and mature, we realize that there are better ways to handle our disagreements and differences. It’s just too bad that there are sooooo many adults who insist on acting like children. I get enough of that at home…really!

Take a stroll along our Garden Paths today and enjoy the cornucopia of enlightening stories available to read and share. And don’t forget to drop off your news and tidbits here in our own little corner garden.

Me?? I’m going to stop and smell the roses…
