More SPITE from our oh-so-mature Democrat “leaders”
The Spite House decided a government shut-down meant that extra cops and resources needed to be allocated to Barry-cade the open-air monuments in DC lest expected World War II and Vietnam War Honor Flight veterans get in and … you know … look at them, have pics taken, lay a wreath or two.
But just so we are all Very Clear that Øbama Democrats believe they can shove their thumbs in our eyes whenever and wherever they choose, they’ve given the go-ahead to a planned protest called “Camino Americano: March for Immigration Reform” on the otherwise Barry-caded National Mall.
The event is hosted by several immigration activist groups, plus the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) and the AFL-CIO, all big contributors to Democrat war chests. About 30 members of Congress are expected to attend the rally, including House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., and Sen. Robert Menendez, D-N.J.
This is impossible to justify in terms of any “government shutdown.” However, if you assume that Obama and the Democrats regard illegal aliens as their constituents and WWII vets as NOT their constituents, then it makes a kind of sick sense. Emphasis on SICK.

Another Veterans’ Memorial Barry-caded
Yet another open-aid monument to America’s finest has been “shut down” because President Petty-Pants is an effing schmuck.
UNBELIEVABLE Police force Vietnam veterans to vacate Vietnam Veterans Memorial [:57]
The Vietnam Veterans Memorial requires absolutely no security. As John McCormack commented, “It takes more manpower and costs the government more money to close down an outdoor wall than to let people walk past it and pay their respects.”

Barricade Barry attempts to close the Iwo Jima Memorial to veterans
From a blog posting by Daniel Halper at The Weekly Standard:
Another open-air memorial in the Washington area is closed and barricaded off: the Iwo Jima Memorial, just across the bridge from D.C. in Rosslyn, Virginia. A source sends along this picture of the barricade set-up at the memorial, which is also called the U.S. Marine Corps War Memorial:
“I took the picture yesterday afternoon. Those barricades had been there at least a day. People can still walk into the Memorial area, but for many elderly and disabled vets, it is important they be driven and park right next to the statue,” the person who took this picture emails. […]
“This picture is from North Marshall Drive (100 yards up the hill from the 110) facing the only road in and out of the Memorial for cars. There are parking spots for cars and buses right next the Memorial that can only be accessed via this road.” […]
The stop is a popular destination for veterans and tourists alike, and, in my observation, is usually completely unmanned and unguarded. But, for some reason, it’s closed to the public during this federal government shutdown.
An Honor Flight of World War II veterans from Syracuse was being taken on a tour of Washington DC, and they paid as much heed to the barricades at the Iwo Jima memorial as an earlier group of veterans had paid to the barricades at the WWII memorial. Here’s a photograph of the group:

These guys stormed the beaches of Normandy, and Barricade Barry thinks he can scare them off with a flimsy portable barrier and some yellow tape?

“Caring” Democrats?
Yesterday, the Senate voted down a House joint resolution entitled Honoring our Promise to America’s Veterans Act.
Today, Democrat Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said they will also vote down the bill to provide funding to NIH which helps children with cancer:
Reporter: But if you could help one child who has cancer, why wouldn’t you do it?
Reid: Why would we want to do that?
Please keep in mind that:
A. Democrats have flatly refused to negotiate in any way whatsoever, despite the Republican “obsession” with this bill that a majority of Americans did not want WHEN IT WAS PASSED and which a BIGGER majority of Americans do not want NOW.
B. Ever since Obama first took office in January 2009, Democrats have blocked every attempt by Republicans in Congress to fulfill the ONE JOB the Congress is legally required to do … PASS A BUDGET.
C. All this haggling over Continuing Resolutions is about keeping the money (debting) flowing at the ridiculous rate that Democrats established in 2009, a rate that is very rapidly sending the United States of America into bankruptcy.

Army combat veteran and cop tells it straight
An impassioned and rational statement against New York’s so-called “Safe Act” by Aaron Weiss of Poughkeepsie [2:58]
I especially like his statement at the end about what the legislators who support this vile law would be willing to do to enforce it. My guess is … nothing. The Left sends better men and women into harm’s way while they sit back in their padded chairs and sip their expensive whiskey.

Shame on you indeed!
Above: Rep. Tammy Duckworth, D-Ill, lost both her legs and the use of her right arm as a helicopter pilot in Iraq in 2004. She has chronic pain and may still lose her right arm altogether.
In video: Braulio Castillo broke his foot at the U.S. Military Preparatory School, between high school and college. Then he went on to play football in college. Thirty years later, he claimed special “military disability” benefits for his company based on chronic pain in says he has in his foot.
Castillo told Duckworth that the pain is “due to my service to our great country and I would do it again to protect this great country.”
Duckworth replied, “I’m so glad that you would be willing to play football in prep school again to protect this great country.”
She went on.
“Shame on you, Mr. Castillo. Shame on you. You may not have broken any laws … but you certainly broke the trust of this great nation. You broke the trust of veterans.”
