AMERICAN HISTORY: On March 1, 1971, a bomb exploded in the Capitol building in Washington, D.C., causing an estimated $300,000 in damage. The Weather Underground claimed responsibility. In his 2001 memoir, Fugitive Days, former Weatherman and long-time Obama supporter, Bill Ayers, claimed he had been involved.

The “Weathermen” were a radical, violent faction of the Marxist Students for a Democratic Society (SDS). The group, which favored arson and bombings as a means of protesting what they perceived to be wrong with American society, detonated bombs at the U.S. State Department and at the Pentagon, as well as dozens of other sites across the U.S. Their bombs were always preceded by telephoned warnings and the only casualties were three of their own who were killed while make explosives in 1969.

TRANS: Former New Hampshire state Rep. Stacie Laughton was lauded as the first openly transgender person to be elected to a state legislature. After his former partner, Lindsay Groves, admitted taking sexually explicit photos of male and female children, ages 3 to 5 years, at the Massachusetts day care where she worked and sending them to Laughton, he pleaded guilty. Officials say Laughton asked Groves for the photos and the two exchanged more than 10,000 text messages about them, then showed them to other adults. In one of the texts, Laughton allegedly wrote about having oral sex with a girl, only to have Groves note, “She’s not even 3 yet.” Laughton replied, “Do you think God would be OK with me being a minister?” to which Groves replied, “I think God will be OK with all of that.” Laughton was supposed to have been sentenced on February 12, 2026, but the details have not been made public.

At my intake, the PA looked up the ‘oscopy report and images and told me they showed I had a hiatal hernia, esophageal erosion, and bowel impaction! I’m still not sure how any of that adds up to “fine.” I worked with her for 6 months to get my digestion working properly. When I asked my primary why he hadn’t told me I had esophageal erosion, he looked genuinely shocked and quickly called up the test results on his computer. He had never looked at them, but had just taken the “everything was fine” summary at face value.

Jim Crow (literacy) laws were passed by Democrats to keep newly freed, mostly illiterate slaves from voting, not because they were black, but because they overwhelming supported “the party of Lincoln” – i.e., the Republican Party. If illegals and other cheaters were voting Republican, Democrats would be demanding voter id.

In that position, one can not use the dominant hand. But while I was listening to this video, I suddenly saw in my mind’s eye how Mama Buzz uses “hand-over-hand” with Buzz to help him learn a new skill. She doesn’t grip his hand, palm-to-palm, but rather places her palm lightly on the back of his hand; her hand is holding his, but it is not to constrain his actions, but rather to gently guide them.

GRAMMY NOTES: I am reposting the meditation about alignment that I posted yesterday, because it really hit me where I live. I have been thinking and praying about it a lot. I have wasted far too many of the hours God has given me brooding over the past and fearing for the future.

There are times and reasons to think about the past or to plan for the future, but as C.S. Lewis has pointed out, those times and reasons are only aligned with God’s will when they are the legitimate business of the present. Our lives only intersect with eternity in the now. The past is fixed; the futures we imagine may or may not happen. Our holy task is to focus on being aligned with God’s will in each present moment.

When I imagine each of us being one of those little iron filings, I have to laugh at how futile it is to think we can see God’s pattern and meaning for our lives from our perspective. Minnesota Update

Protesters disrupted services at Cities Church in St. Paul where a local official with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement serves as a pastor.

U.S. Department of Justice Assistant Attorney General Harmeet Dhillon said her agency is investigating the incident for possible federal civil rights violations.

Surprisingly (to me), the most relevant federal statute may be The Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act (FACE). While it has primarily been used to prosecute peaceful anti-abortion protesters, it actually prohibits the use of force, threats, or physical obstruction to interfere with individuals seeking reproductive health services or exercising their religious rights at places of worship.

Cities Church could potentially also take this to a local court and sue for criminal trespass. Churches (including their buildings, grounds, parking lots, and related facilities) are typically considered private property, even when they are open to the public for services, events, or general visitation. This means the church leadership (or authorized representatives, like pastors, elders, or property managers) can control access, decide who is welcome, and revoke permission for anyone to be there.

These protesters engaged in criminal trespass by knowingly and intentionally entering to disrupt and then refusing to leave when asked. Penalties vary by state and severity and can include fines, jail time, probation, or community service. Our constitutional rights to gather and express ourselves are only guaranteed on government property. Private property owners get to choose when and how they happen.

Twelfth Night

This establishes civil personhood from conception, allowing the unborn to potentially benefit from rights like inheritance, donations, or other protections afford born human beings.

Nineteenth Day of Advent

DAILY PRAYER: Dear Lord, Help us each to focus on the significance of Christ’s birth and the hope He brings to the world. In Jesus’ Name, we pray. Amen.

HYPOCRISY: For the record, I am not posting this to excuse Trump’s bad attitude. I think we should be better than this! MAR-A-LAGO RAID: Newly declassified emails may give Trump grounds to sue for civil liberty violations or prompt prosecutors to pursue a criminal investigation. They show that, before the 2022 raid on Trump’s home in Florida, the FBI expressed doubt that Trump had done anything wrong. FBI agents repeatedly recommended talking to Trump’s lawyers rather than raiding or, failing that, limiting the warrant to avoid private areas of the estate.

The Biden DOJ blew them off. On June 1, 2022, the Assistant Special Agent in Charge wrote, “DOJ has been adamant that no accommodation would be given and that they would not reach out to the attorney.” Nevertheless, the FBI continued to push for “a reasonable conversation with the former president’s attorney.”

When it became obvious the raid would happen regardless, the FBI advocated for a “professional, low key” search that respected “the optics.” As we all know, the August 8, 2022 raid, which was authorized by then-Attorney General Merrick Garland, was anything but.

VOTER FRAUD: The DOJ’s Civil Rights Division is suing 18 states for refusing to provide complete state voting registration lists. The Trump administration says it wants the information to verify the states are following federal election law in an effort to strengthen voting security. The 18 states, all of which Trump lost in 2020, call it intimidation in an effort to influence elections.
