DAILY PRAYER: Dear Lord, Send Your Holy Spirit on all those You have called to preach Your Word. Protect them from harm and keep them in the center of Your will. In Jesus’ Name, we pray. Amen.

BALLROOM: If the president were a Democrat, they’d be calling the change historic, visionary, and long overdue.

EVERYDAY HEROES: When Navy sailor Douglas Hegdahl was captured during the Vietnam War and thrown into the infamous Hanoi Hilton prison, he pretended to be clumsy, slow-witted, and illiterate. His captors gave him freedom to wander around the camp, because they thought he was too simple to be a threat. He memorized the names, capture dates, and conditions of 256 of his fellow prisoners, setting the information to the tune of “Old MacDonald Had a Farm” which he sang silently in his head, day after day, so he wouldn’t forget a thing.

All of the POWs had agreed that no one would accept early release. However, when the North Vietnamese offered to send Hegdahl home as a propaganda stunt, his fellow prisoners told him to go. His “Old MacDonald” information was some of the most valuable intelligence of the war. He later attended the Paris Peace Talks and confronted the North Vietnamese with his firsthand information about the mistreatment of prisoners.

LITERACY: I saw a post on Facebook about a “book vending machine” in a school and had to google. I’ve never heard of them before. Kids can buy books with tokens they earn for good behavior. What a wonderful idea!

POST TRAUMA GROWTH: Yes! We had to CHOOSE to USE the trauma to become who we are now. And then we had to work our butts off to make it happen. But for me, the choice was a no brainer. I mean, if you get stuck in mud, would you just sit there forever?! No, you get out and get the help you need to move past it and live again.

PRAYER for OUR NATION: Dear Lord, Fill our leaders with Your wisdom and lead them in justice and truth. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

GRAMMY NOTES: [3:08] – Years ago, my mother decided to make a bouquet of the last roses of the season in her garden and take them to a woman she knew at the local TB sanitorium. When she walked in the door, the woman burst into tears saying, “Today is the 9th day of my novena to St. Therese!”

BOLTON: [8:01] – On August 22, 2025, at about 7 a.m., FBI agents raided John Bolton’s home in Bethesda, Maryland. The word on the street is they had a warrant to search for classified documents. The Epoch Times said, “The FBI did not provide a substantive reply in response to an inquiry”, but noted FBI Director Kash Patel had posted on X, “NO ONE is above the law … @FBI agents on mission” and that FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino, had shared this, writing, “Public corruption will not be tolerated.” Attorney General Pam Bondi wrote on X, “America’s safety isn’t negotiable. Justice will be pursued. Always.”

CALIFORNICATION: In the 2024 presidential election, nearly 40% of California voters chose Trump; fewer than 20% of California’s seats in the U.S. House of Representatives are filled by Republicans. But never mind all that! Democrats rule California and they want more! On August 21, Gov. Newsom on Aug. 21 signed a legislative package to put a measure on the Nov. 4 ballot that would redraw the state’s congressional map to redraw the boundaries for five of those nine seats, to give each of them a greater share of Democrat voters.

RUSSIA vs UKRAINE: Not long after Putin met with Trump in Alaska, the Russian army launched one of its largest overnight strikes since the war began. More than six hundred drones, ballistic and cruise missiles landed on Ukraine, killing one, injuring dozens and destroying an American-owned electronics company less than an hour from two NATO borders.

SCOTUS: The Supremes voted 5–4 on Aug. 21 to allow the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to cancel hundreds of millions of dollars in research grants linked to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives. The Trump administration argued that National Institutes of Health grants conflict with the president’s policy goals.

TRANS: OMG interview with Vanessa Savidge [1:34:20] – Vanessa Sivadge thought she’d found her dream job as a pediatric nurse at the nation’s top children’s hospital. Instead, she says she watched doctors steer healthy kids into gender transitions, prescribing powerful drugs, billing taxpayers, and hiding it from the public.

Out of her concern for the kids, she spoke anonymously in 2023 with journalist Christopher Rufo about the hospital having publicly claimed to have shut down the transgender medicine program, yet said it was continuing. Approximately two months after that interview, two FBI agents, Paul Nixon and David McBride, came to her home, identifying her as a “person of interest” in an investigation related to a whistleblower who had exposed the program, alleging a violation of federal privacy laws (HIPAA).

She claimed the agents intimidated her, stating they would “make life difficult” for her if she was protecting the leaker and suggested she was “not safe” at work, implying someone at her workplace had given her name to the FBI. Doorbell camera footage shared by Rufo captured the agents at her door, asking to speak with her about “some of the things that have been going on at [her] work lately.”

I am gobsmacked that those two FBI agents showed up on official business wearing jeans and casual shirts.

GRAMMY NOTES: Aidan Perry, a young Florida man, survived being shot in the chest because a cross pendant his dad gave him last Christmas deflected the bullet. [4:35] – When my brother was in Vietnam, he was shot in the torso by a sniper. The bullet did massive damage, his recovery was long, and he has had some lifelong health issues as a result. But what the bullet did not do was kill him. The surgeon who removed the bullet said that, based on its trajectory, it should have gone straight through his heart. The surgeon said it had not hit anything that could have deflected it. It just altered course inside my brother’s chest and went around his heart!

That same day, Carol Corbin at the Pentagon offered National Guard support, but I was forced to decline because I lacked the legal authority. On January 6, while the Capitol was under attack and despite my repeated calls, your Sergeant at Arms again denied my urgent requests for over 70 agonizing minutes, ‘running it up the chain’ for your approval. When I needed assistance, it was denied. Yet when it suited you, you ordered fencing topped with concertina wire and surrounded the Capitol with thousands of armed National Guard troops.”

MEDIA: When a reporter asked Trump if he would build a “big, beautiful briefing room,” Trump dismissed the idea, joking he had no interest in making life more comfortable for the media.

SCHIFF: FBI Director Kash Patel has released bombshell documents to Congress showing that Shifty Schiff approved leaking classified information to smear then-President Donald Trump over the now-debunked Russiagate scandal. In addition, when concerned individuals told DOJ officials the evidence, they did nothing.

TEXAS: State Dem legislators continue to refuse to come to work. Gov. Abbott says their behavior is absurd, since he is “authorized to call a special session every 30 days. It lasts 30 days. And as soon as this one is over, I’m gonna call another one, then another one, then another, then another one.”

AI: Helpful advice for discerning what is real. [2:40] – I actually dismissed the bunnies as AI the first time I saw them, but only because we get to watch real bunnies in our back yard regularly. Only one and sometimes two come in the evening, before dark, to roll around in our sand pit and eat the clover etc. in our never-sprayed lawn. They tend to stay near the bushes and stop what they’re doing often to check their surroundings, because they’re prey. The idea that a whole herd of them would cavort, together, and after dark seemed absurd.

WAR ON DRUGS: [28:49] – Fentanyl is an extremely potent synthetic opioid similar to morphine, but more powerful. It is a prescription drug but is also manufactured illegally and is sometimes mixed with other illicit drugs such as heroin and cocaine, often without the user’s knowledge. The potency of fentanyl makes it very addictive and puts users at a high risk for overdose.

Illegally manufactured fentanyl has become more prevalent in the United States in recent years, leading to a huge increase in drug overdose deaths. Fentanyl overdoses are now the driving force behind the opioid epidemic, accounting for the majority of overdose deaths in the United States. In 2023, around 72,776 people in the United States died from a drug overdose that involved fentanyl.
