In his statement, Jeffries lies by using the logical fallacy known as amphiboly. The words he said are technically true; illegals don’t get Medicaid “dimes” handed to them. However, what he means for us to infer from his statement – i.e., that illegals aren’t getting free health care courtesy of American taxpayers – is false. Medicaid sends all payments directly to the providers.

Despite being responsible for shutting down the government, legislators will still get their paychecks and there’s nothing we can do about it, because their pay (as well as the president’s) are mandated in the Constitution. Active duty military have to continue working. They won’t get paid until after the shutdown ends.

Schumer is 74 years old! What IS it with these people that they refuse to retire and let younger people step up to the plate? My father was a coach. He always made sure his second and third string got playing time, so they could develop their skills and move up when the first stringers got injured or graduated.

IMO, AOC is only able to threaten Schumer because he never let the second stringers in party leadership take their rightful place while he, Biden, Pelosi, and the rest of the geriatric horde stepped back to serve as mentors and cheerleaders before gracefully retiring.

Senate Majority Leader John Thune says of Schumer, “Chuck’s in a really tough spot. I mean, he cut this deal with a lot of these left-wing special interest groups. And I think that’s unfortunate, but it is because he’s feeling pressure on his hard left. But I think there are a lot of reasonable Democrats in the middle. I mean, we’re hearing from him, Greta. We’re hearing from through my colleagues. They’re reaching out. People want an off-ramp. They want a way out of this box canyon that Chuck Schumer has marched them into.”

CDC: In late August, CDC Director Susan Monarez was fired after less than a month in her role, primarily due to conflicts with Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. over vaccine policy and her refusal to follow certain directives. Her firing prompted at least four senior officials to resign.

  1. Dr. Debra Houry advised the director on agency issues and priorities during the COVID-19 pandemic;
  2. Dr. Demetre Daskalakis served in leadership roles at the CDC from 2020 to 2025;
  3. Dr. Daniel Jernigan, who apparently isn’t important enough to have a Wikipedia page, explained on NPR that his reason for resigning was to “get the politics out of public health”; and
  4. Dr. Jennifer Layden, who left her job as incident manager for Chicago’s COVID-19 response to help lead the CDC’s national COVID-19 response. Shortly after her arrival, she co-led a vaccine task force that oversaw COVID-19 vaccine data and contributed to clinical guidance decisions.

MEDIA: The Left Stream Media did not report on the murder of Iryna Zarutska, a female Caucasian refugee from Ukraine, by a violent Black criminal with a rap sheet a mile long. And when surveillance video revealed the attack was vicious and unprovoked from start to finish, the Left Stream Media still did not deem the story worthy of their time and attention.

What they are reporting on is how the stabbing video is fueling MAGA’s crime message. One paragraph from Axios story “Stabbing video fuels MAGA’s crime message” (link below) says, “Influential conservative social media accounts accused major national news outlets of not covering the racial dynamics of the Charlotte killing — a white victim and a Black suspect — with the same intensity as they did in the case of Daniel Penny.”

In case you have forgotten, Penny is a Caucasian military veteran who took down a violent Black man who was threatening passengers on a subway car. The “major national news outlets” went nuts, calling for the Evil White Supremacist to be drawn and quartered. But during his trial, the other passengers said Penny had saved their lives. Thankfully, the jury voted to acquit.

BIRTHRIGHT CITIZENSHIP: The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals recent rulin in Moncada v. Blinken could strengthen Trump’s efforts to stop illegals from dropping their so-called “anchor babies” on U.S. soil.

The case involved the son of a Nicaraguan diplomat who had assumed he was a citizen, because he was born here. When he applied for a passport, they told him he wasn’t eligible, because his father had had full diplomatic immunity. The court ruled that he is not a U.S. citizen, because IOW, he and his family had not been “subject to the jurisdiction” of the United States at the time of his birth.

Being “subject to the jurisdiction” means being under the complete legal authority of the U.S. government, including its laws, courts, and regulations. In United States v. Wong Kim Ark (1898), the Supreme Court ruled that the U.S.-born child of parents who were legal residents, though not citizens, was himself a citizen.

The question remains if those who are here illegally qualify as “subject to the jurisdiction” or not. IRS, anyone?

We paid $42,000 for our little ranchburger back in 1984. Granted, it was a nothing special starter home, but it was sturdy, everything worked properly, and it was/is in a great neighborhood. It had 3 bedrooms, 1.5 baths, and a partially finished full basement. IOW, much larger than anything that qualifies as a tiny house. At 210.8% inflation, a house like ours should cost about $130,000. But according to the map above, the average home in New York currently costs $482,700, which suggests even a starter home is going for waaaay more than $130K.

I plugged the NYS average income ($86K) into the mortgage calculator linked below. It says someone with that income should be able to comfortably afford a house costing up to $287,739. Wow. No wonder so many young people and retirees are opting for tiny homes!

BIDEN: [5:27] – Did you ever notice how often KJP et al. spoke of “the president” or “this president” with such sincerity? It makes me wonder if they were really talking to Obama and genuinely believed he was THE president.

BOLTON: [8:01] – On August 22, 2025, at about 7 a.m., FBI agents raided John Bolton’s home in Bethesda, Maryland. The word on the street is they had a warrant to search for classified documents. The Epoch Times said, “The FBI did not provide a substantive reply in response to an inquiry”, but noted FBI Director Kash Patel had posted on X, “NO ONE is above the law … @FBI agents on mission” and that FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino, had shared this, writing, “Public corruption will not be tolerated.” Attorney General Pam Bondi wrote on X, “America’s safety isn’t negotiable. Justice will be pursued. Always.”

CALIFORNICATION: In the 2024 presidential election, nearly 40% of California voters chose Trump; fewer than 20% of California’s seats in the U.S. House of Representatives are filled by Republicans. But never mind all that! Democrats rule California and they want more! On August 21, Gov. Newsom on Aug. 21 signed a legislative package to put a measure on the Nov. 4 ballot that would redraw the state’s congressional map to redraw the boundaries for five of those nine seats, to give each of them a greater share of Democrat voters.

Florida did not issue an arrest warrant until August 15. Singh flew from Florida to California on the 14th and was apprehended by U.S. Marshals on August 16 without incident. MAHA: [13:49] – Bobby Kennedy is not planning to run for president. He wants to put his efforts into fixing the vaccine court.

MEDIA: [3:23] – The White House Bureau Chief for the Washington Post reveals their agenda is not informing voters. Donald Trump owned the Miss Universe Organization (which includes Miss Universe, Miss USA and Miss Teen) from 1996 to 2015.

PARTY DEMOGRAPHICS: Between the 2020 and 2024 elections, in the 30 states (and D.C.) that allow voter registrations by party, Democrats lost about 2.1 million registered voters while Republicans gained about 2.4 million.

PEACE TALKS: I remember when Democrats cheered because Obama said he would talk to ANY world leader without preconditions. But Trump talks to Putin and they yell, “Russia is our enemy!! How DARE he talk to Putin?!“

RUSSIA vs UKRAINE: Not long after Putin met with Trump in Alaska, the Russian army launched one of its largest overnight strikes since the war began. More than six hundred drones, ballistic and cruise missiles landed on Ukraine, killing one, injuring dozens and destroying an American-owned electronics company less than an hour from two NATO borders.

SCOTUS: The Supremes voted 5–4 on Aug. 21 to allow the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to cancel hundreds of millions of dollars in research grants linked to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives. The Trump administration argued that National Institutes of Health grants conflict with the president’s policy goals.

TRANS: OMG interview with Vanessa Savidge [1:34:20] – Vanessa Sivadge thought she’d found her dream job as a pediatric nurse at the nation’s top children’s hospital. Instead, she says she watched doctors steer healthy kids into gender transitions, prescribing powerful drugs, billing taxpayers, and hiding it from the public.

Out of her concern for the kids, she spoke anonymously in 2023 with journalist Christopher Rufo about the hospital having publicly claimed to have shut down the transgender medicine program, yet said it was continuing. Approximately two months after that interview, two FBI agents, Paul Nixon and David McBride, came to her home, identifying her as a “person of interest” in an investigation related to a whistleblower who had exposed the program, alleging a violation of federal privacy laws (HIPAA).

She claimed the agents intimidated her, stating they would “make life difficult” for her if she was protecting the leaker and suggested she was “not safe” at work, implying someone at her workplace had given her name to the FBI. Doorbell camera footage shared by Rufo captured the agents at her door, asking to speak with her about “some of the things that have been going on at [her] work lately.”

I am gobsmacked that those two FBI agents showed up on official business wearing jeans and casual shirts.

GRAMMY NOTES: Aidan Perry, a young Florida man, survived being shot in the chest because a cross pendant his dad gave him last Christmas deflected the bullet. [4:35] – When my brother was in Vietnam, he was shot in the torso by a sniper. The bullet did massive damage, his recovery was long, and he has had some lifelong health issues as a result. But what the bullet did not do was kill him. The surgeon who removed the bullet said that, based on its trajectory, it should have gone straight through his heart. The surgeon said it had not hit anything that could have deflected it. It just altered course inside my brother’s chest and went around his heart!

D.C.: Democrat leadership is on the wrong side of this one. [4:53] – Since the National Guard went to D.C., 48 homeless encampments have also been removed and 465 criminals have been arrested for parole violation, assault with a deadly weapon, assault on federal law enforcement officer, stabbing, robbery, attempted murder, and murder. At least one of those arrested is a member of MS-13.

EVERYDAY HERO: [2:03] – Very proactive 6-year-old!

HEALTH: Recreational water users should assume that Naegleria fowleri is present in warm freshwater across the United States. While infection remains very rare, cases recently have occurred in California, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Missouri, Indiana, Minnesota, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Nebraska, Iowa, Maryland. I’m guessing the uptick is due to the extremely hot weather we’ve been having. More people swimming in warmer than usual water.

Feast of the Assumption of Mary into Heaven

DAILY PRAYER: Mary, Mother of Mercy, intercede for us, your children. Keep us under your protection, safe from all harm, healthy in mind, body, and spirit. Under your watchful care, may we avoid the pitfalls of prejudice, ingratitude, injustice, and violence. And may we be always worthy of the promises of Christ. Amen.

AI: When Mama Buzz first opened yesterday’s “Bits & Bytes” on her phone, the prayer showed up with a transparent background. She highlighted it, intending to make it visible so she could read it. Somehow, this triggered an AI to add what I’ve shown above. Wonderful thoughts, all of them, even if they did utterly miss the point I was trying to make by combining the prayer with that graphic. But I guess the Holy Spirit wanted us to see it, because when Mama reloaded, the prayer formatted correctly.

STILL WINNING: The U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit ruled on Aug. 13 that the Trump administration may cut billions of dollars in foreign aid funds that Congress previously approved. This victory allows Trump to continue to wind down USAID.
