Your postings are absolutely not pathetic – they are different. You are the master of the one sentence summary that makes the Grudge Report a source of humor, so we can cope with the disgust we feel for the content of the articles. Chrissy does it with amazing pictures and you do it with one carefully crafted, humorous sentence.

I cannot believe that John Cornyn could continue to be so tone deaf. I wish TexasMom could chime in here with her perspective on him. Scarborough is even worse than Charlie Crist.

The video of the protestors in Madison was pathetic. How about that guy yelling over and over “You cannot arrest him. You cannot arrest him.” Those people just did not look like public school teachers to me, but what do I know? I guess appearances are deceiving. 🙂

I have been wondering if your trips into Michigan have given you any insight into the ebb and flow of the crowds at the protests. I know you have had to avoid the Capitol Building, but I was wondering if you could get a sense of it in spite of that.

Thanks for the report. We love them!

I found this website to be interesting. Common misconceptions on what is and is not in the Constitution.

    http://www.usconstitution.net/constnot.html

The one that surprised me the most is “From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs”. People think that is in the Constitution?

    • Interesting article! It’s more than a little disturbing that so many people believe that Karl Marx was one of the Founding Fathers, but I have to ask, is the Constitution even taught in schools any more? I was born during the Eisenhower administration, and back then every kid studied the Constitution in school, but I have a feeling it’s been dropped from the curriculum sometime in the intervening years. (Our history teacher, Mr. B., also believed in using the Constitution to punish unruly students — kids who talked out of turn, passed notes in class, etc., were often sentenced to copy out articles of the Constitution as penance. I recall with no fondness whatsoever many recesses spent tediously copying out by hand page after page of the Constitution… ah, happy golden memories of carefree youth…)

That’s a good question. I would hope that they still teach the Constitution, probably not as thoroughly as they once did. I don’t remember specifically learning the Constitution in school, but I know I took a government class in High School and we surely learned about the Constitution (among other things). I can’t understand why people don’t care about this stuff.

Well, this is a true story. We live in one of the best school systems in Virginia and my kids went to one of the best schools in the system – one of the first “Blue Ribbon” schools in the country. My daughter was in an “advanced” US History class in middle school and the “gifted” teacher came in often to work on projects and teach certain units. She (the teacher) was so excited about the unit on the Constitution. Each child was to write a report on an assigned US President, with the objective (in writing – I kid you not) of this report (which had nothing whatsoever to do with the Constitution) was to instill an appreciation and understanding of the US Constitution. Furthermore, they were to pick one “prop” that illustrated their President when they gave their oral report. It was just absurd. My daughter was assigned Woodrow Wilson after she told the teacher that his wife – the second one that was the de facto U.S. Pres. after his stroke – was our grandmother’s first cousin. The wife running the show for Wilson was the closest thing anyone in the class came to discussing the Constitution – at all. And that was it for the US Constitution for the 3 years of middle school. Sad, but true. My daughter is 23, and I know she knows a bit better now because she went to a Specialty Center for high school and they spent a lot of time on Supreme Court cases and how they decided on the constitutionality of certain cases. Thank goodness for that high school.

    • I could comment on so many things in this, so I just won’t.

Serioulsy, though, why don’t you have a Gravatar yet? It’s not that I don’t like the little quilt thingies, ’cause I do. It’s just…why did WP assign you that putrid yellow color? “You’re bringin’ me over!”

Besides, you need a WP account, so that you can use the Track My Comments feature. I’m going to leave a comment on your other one, too. So, check it.

That bag looks like something a teenager might make in high school home ec.

    • They sell tote bags at WalMart for five bucks that aren’t any uglier than that one. Who are these people who keep saying Mrs. Ø. is a fashion icon? And what kind of brainless twit spends that kind of money for ANY bag, regardless of how stunningly beautiful it may be?

I know that as her mother, I COULD be considered to be prejudiced, but I think that girl is just so danged clever! Look at the dollhouse she made out of my detergent box (detergent now in old ice cream plastic bin, at least until she wants to make something out of that!).

    • I’ve been following this, too. Very sad. I can’t even imagine where you would begin to clean up after something like this. (I have a hard enough time with my kids’ toys!) The devastation is just unimaginable. We’ve got several friends in Japan (and could be headed there next ourselves). I haven’t heard anything directly from them yet, but I’ll keep you apprised.

Blizzard does Westby, part 2. The lonely deer here in the accompanying picture was walking right at the end of my front yard. The fuzzy little car-drift is right across the street. I REALLY hate walking the dogs today!

        • I’ve lived (and driven) in Wisconsin for almost 34 years and have yet to hit a deer. I don’t know anyone else who has lived here as long as I have who can make that claim (excluding those who don’t drive, obviously). I may not be the world’s best driver, but I’m certainly one of the luckiest.

(Now that I’ve said that, I’ve probably jinxed myself.)
