It’s no wonder they don’t know nuthin’

I get it that liberals are uninformed and/or stupid. Their media sources are pretty bad, after all. I remember John Ziegler sponsored a poll after the Obama election where he correlated knowledge of current events with primary news sources. People who used Fox scored the best. And I’ve heard this annual poll consistently shows Republicans scoring better than Democrats.

But isn’t Tom Brokaw supposed to be one of their more respected journalists?

A couple of weeks ago, he tried to make out that Boehner and the Republicans have to watch themselves with the government shut-down thing or risk getting booted out of the majority asap.

Of course, when we go from NBC’s Tom Brokaw to MSNBC’s Chris Matthews,  it’s a case of “dumb” and “dumber than a box of rocks, but not nearly as cuddly.”

  1. Great work, Chrissy! Can you imagine what the reaction would have been if, after Hurricane Katrina, Rush Limbaugh had said, “The first thing I thought of was, will this help George W. Bush”? Or if Glenn Beck had ever said anything as unbelievably ignorant as the Tom Brokaw statement highlighted above? Or if (God forbid) Sarah Palin had said that Nancy Pelosi looks like a car bomber?

On the subject of Americans’ invincible ignorance when it comes to current events and other things one should be at least minimally informed about before voting… I still remember a poll that was taken after the 1996 election, comparing people who voted for Bob Dole with people who voted for Bill Clinton. It found that Dole won decisively among voters who could correctly identify where each of the candidates stood on the issues. Not surprising, I guess, but pretty depressing, to think that so many voters are that uninformed…

  2. MSNBC is so unwatchable. I usually follow their misspeaks on Newsbusters so I can anticipate what the “journolisters” on pushing on the lefty blogs 😀

For fun, you can follow the cable news numbers here:

The comments are from news junkies, so the conversations are rather polite. Fox kicks the competition consistently, and why they’re so hated on the left. 😉
