    LOL! Is that a Patton dog? I can’t remember the name of it, but my hubby went through a phase where he wanted that dog and only that dog. He loves their beady little eyes.

      I remember that dog! And I still remember the first time I saw “Patton.” I was sixteen, and my sister and her husband set me up with a blind date without even informing me first. The date was a disaster, but the movie was great, so the evening was not a total loss.

    I’m so tired of hearing about not being hired for being “black”. The test is only the first step in getting hired for these positions. My white son passed his state trooper’s exam before he was allowed to go through the rigorous PT, interview, psycho and medical exams. He wasn’t hired for that position. Boo. Hoo. Nowadays, you even need a college degree just to be allowed to take the tests for local police, fire and other first responder positions, the competition is very stiff. My son was fresh out of college, but the state hired those with military experience first.

      So maybe they did and maybe they didn’t. Discrimination happens to everybody, but only the true losers blame their lack of success on it.

      I remember my mom saying my dad didn’t get a job once because he was Catholic. Then he did get a job because he was Catholic. I thought she had a sensible attitude about it.

      And looking back, I know I didn’t get one job because I’m a girl. The guy was very upfront about it. But I’m pretty sure I did get another job because I’m a girl.

      That office was full of females and weak males. And the boss was a horrible bully who had everyone sharing their Valium prescriptions. One time he laughed about one of the female employees before me that he’d burned out, how she was such a wreck, her hands shook and she wept while he yelled at her. He laughed uproariously as he told us this! Sick, twisted man.

      I was pretty desperate … he mostly hired people like that … so stuck it out as long as I could. Took the damn pills even. Then one day, I just couldn’t move. I had to babysit this machine and it was wanting me to do something. I saw it needed me, but I just couldn’t make myself do anything.

      I realized the job was killing me, decided screw this and walked out. Literally. I heard later I was a legend in the office for having the guts to stick it to that horrible man. Not so much guts as self preservation.

      Anyway I had a good employment counselor who told me to take a few days off and relax, play, get over it. I was ten days from rent being due and $40 in the bank, but she was right. I was in no shape to interview. After my little holiday, I landed the next job I went for.

      So like you say … boo hoo. Get over it and move on.

    That article on Sen. Ensign was down right strange! How about that line where he was eating Wheat Thins while trying to convince someone to hire his cuckolded staffer? I hate to see Santorum and Coburn mentioned, but it looks like they were trying to get him to behave, well, Coburn, at least.

    I’m glad that some Dems are realizing that raising taxes right now is not the smartest thing to do.

    That pig is so cute, and I cannot believe the similarity with the dog. What is interesting to me is that I would think of the pig as cute, but not so much for the dog, if I saw the photos separately. Now, I think the dog is cute, too.

      Piglets and puppies are almost always cute. What they look like in later life is sometimes another story!

        My grandmother told me a story about when my mom was a child of about 5.Grandma was feeding the pigs on their farm when mom picked up a piglet who,of course.started squealing.The brood sow made a beeline for my mother and their collie dog raced across the pen and bit the sow’s ear and wouldn’t let go.This gave my grandmother time to grab mom and get out of the pen.My mother learned a lesson about not touching baby animals and,as I understand,the dog ate real well that night!
