QUESTION FOR Y’ALL: Now that Pete knows how to post the Grudge as a post, not a comment, do you want me to discontinue the Daily Path or keep posting so we have at least one open blog a day on those admittedly rare and so sad occasions when Pete is off-line for any of a variety of reasons we all experience ourselves and are ever so sympathetic about even though we miss him. Wait … did that run on sentence still have a question in it? I need coffee. I hope this t-shirt doesn’t offend anyone. I think it’s hysterical.

I think any of the authors/editors should feel free to post – or not – at anytime. None of this should be a burden, but a pleasure for those who work so hard at it. I am glad to see Pete spreading his wings and learning new things, and Chrissy is just masterful with her images. You have been particularly inspired lately, Chrissy. Anger can be a pretty good motivator.

His shine tarnished in my eyes with this bit: “When asked about what I would do about our involvement in the war in Afghanistan during the debate, I answered by asking the questions that should have been asked before we got involved many years ago. What is our mission? How does it serve our interest? Is there a path to victory? If not, then what is our exit strategy?”

I’m reading Decision Points by Dubya. These questions WERE asked, for goodness sake and I really bristle at back handed swipes at Dubya, especially from Republicans.

      • I didn’t interpret it the same way that you did. He says that the questions “should” have been asked, but not necessarily that they weren’t. It may have been implied in that statement, but it’s not clear. He may have simply been saying they should have been asked, I hope they were, but I can’t answer that question, ’cause I wasn’t there to hear the responses. I think that one of his strengths is admitting he doesn’t know a lot about these things, but he knows how to ask the right questions to fill in the information gaps.

This one is a tough call for me, ’cause it could be interpretted several ways. It’s also more difficult, ’cause it’s written, rather than spoken, so there’s no inflection to help us out.

  6. If you’ve been following the the story of the 8 year old girl who’s mom gives her botox injections and hot waxes……good news, she’s been removed from her mom……now if they’d only ban child beauty pageants !

TG and ITA! I shuddered over that botox story. Definitely falls within my definition of child abuse.

Oh phew! I was so hoping y’all would want me to keep doing the Open Path. Choosing the graphic for the day is one of my fun breaks!

The news does make me angry, esp with my kids heading off to harm’s way. And while it makes for good poli-graphicking … it’s soul-deadening.

One of the things I vowed before I started here was that I would keep a good balance between educating us about the bad stuff and keeping our spirits up.

I’ve heard and seen comments about “republicrats” … “all pols are corrupt so what’s the point.” I hate that. It’s such a cop out!

“All that is needed for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing.”

We cannot fight effectively if we do not look ugly truths in the face. We also cannot fight effectively if we allow ourselves to become discouraged by that ugliness.

And that’s why I go for pretty, cute, funny stuff for the Daily Path and post Lil Buzz once a week. We need to remember each and every day just why we’re in this thing.
