I’m a huge Dave Ramsey fan, and FTN had posted this elsewhere, I thought I’d share here:

They are currently proposing BIG spending cuts to reduce their spending to $72,000 a year. These are the actual proportions of the federal budget & debt, reduced to a level that we can understand.” – Dave Ramsey

Well…. At the beach last month when Obama and Boehner gave their bookend speeches about the debt ceiling debate, Obama stated that we had to get this settled to avoid a credit rating downgrade. I piped up that it was already downgraded, and then my liberal relatives hissed at me. Of course I explained that it was not a matter of politics, but of numbers and there was no getting away from the numbers. – the downgrade was inevitable no matter what the Congress did. Since I am the only math and economics major in the family, the only former banker in the family, the only Phi Beta Kappa in the family, they stopped their hissing and started pouting instead. I think I will call every single one of them in the morning with the Dave Ramsey numbers. There is no joy in being right this time.
