My husband got some great pictures of my morning glories a couple of days ago, so I thought I’d share a few of them.

Here’s something I’d never seen before: a four-sided morning glory.

Yes, I am a morning glory fanatic. But I do grow a few other things too. Here’s a group shot of part of my coleus collection:

Beautiful, in the morning or any other time! Thanks for sharing.

Very pretty! I’m liking the symmetry in the first photo, as well as the plants. Do I see basil in with the morning glories and petunias?

Yes, those are basil plants. I grow lots of herbs on my deck so I can get at them quickly when I need them for cooking or making tea. Having them on the deck also makes them inaccessible to the marauding whitetail deer that infest the surrounding woods. I tried growing tomatoes and peppers on my deck for the same reason (growing them on the ground is impossible in my neighborhood, unless you surround them with a chain link fence topped with razor wire), but it didn’t work out very well, and I gave up. Now it’s just herbs and flowers. The plants on the deck are safe from deer and rabbits, but not from squirrels and chipmunks — who don’t eat the plants, but insist on burying sunflower seeds (filched from my husband’s bird feeders) in the pots — so I have to weed them regularly to remove all the sunflower seedlings. Oh, well…. My youngest daughter considers the squirrels and chipmunks her personal pets — she has all the local chippies trained to eat out of her hand — so I don’t get too upset with them. Anything that gives my child that much harmless pleasure is okay by me. 🙂

Bob, Bob, Bob–you must be the despair of your children, being SO unhip, even your FLOWERS are square! lol

Oh, come on, Frankly — only one of them was square! The rest are all pentagonal, as morning glories should be. 🙂
(But you’re right, I’m about as unhip as they come. My kids are resigned to it.)
