IN MEMORIAM

My coffee maker died a quiet death this morning.Services will be later today when its given a proper sendoff.I brewed a cup of tea,but its just not the same.I don’t know if I can carry on,but I’ll try.

“I’LL HAVE THE LABRADOR STEAK AND MY DATE WILL HAVE THE SCOOBY SNACK PLATTER.”

      This whole Mormon thing is just nuts. Yeah, LDS has some skeletons in the closet. What religion doesn’t? Why isn’t Pelosi attacked because the catholics still won’t allow women in the hierarchy (I know, she is a pseudo catholic). What about Clinton? Look at the history of southern baptists who were often KKK? Should we go condemn all of today’s evangelists because of the Salem Witch Trials?
      Good grief, the Christian religions all have evolved from some shady pasts. Ever since the crusades, blood has flowed from religious infighting. America came to be because people wanted to establish sects according to their faith.
      This is should be a non issue and if the LSM pushes it too much it is going to backfire.
      And shame on any Christian who will not vote for Romney because he is a Mormon. They would choose a moslem instead?

        Bloodshed in the name of religion dates back to before the dawn of history. Also, the Crusades were launched to stop the violent overthrow of Christian nations by militant Muslims. The constant rant against Christianity because of the Crusades is like blaming the U.S. for dropping the A-bomb on Japan. Both totally ignore the fact that these were acts of self-defense. We didn’t START either war.

      People in crook county already go to Indiana for their smokes. Now we will have those in Northern IL going to Wisc, western IL will head to Iowa, and Southern IL will head to MO. The center folks will set up co ops to do “tobacco runs”. When will these imbeciles get it. Raising taxes causes people to go elsewhere, it does not raise revenue.
      Haven’t the demwits heard of the Boston Tea Party.
      Oh, that’s right.
      They think the guys dumping tea into the boston harbor because to protest taxes were just a bunch of teabaggers.

      What a “strange” coincidence … the kid goes to a Christian academy and her folks have 9 kids, 6 adopted, 5 disabled.

      Another interesting point … four of the Chinese adoptees have disabilities that affect their hands or arms. Hmm. “Born” that way? I doubt that. I’d bet they’re all female and that they’re hands were cut off by the disappointed, one-child-only Chinese parents who all want a BOY.

      My brother lived in Beijing for a year and he said it was COMMON for girl babies to either be left to die in a dumpster or deliberately disabled in hopes of getting a permit to have a second try for a boy. He specifically mentioned cutting off of hands.

      Michael Medved had an interesting conversation yesterday about feeding the poor. He gave the case that we should get rid of food stamps. He cited not only the rampant abuse of the program but the loopholes that enable Harvard college students to be eligible (why can’t the school feed them at the cafeteria), Perhaps a better solution would be to put food co-ops in poor communities, subsidized by the money that now goes to the food stamp program. Families would get an allowance for weekly shopping at the stores which would only be stocked with healthy foods, hand picked by Queen Mechelle herself. No booze, no soda, no candy. Lots of arugula and sprouts. The Queen could even do PR shots “serving” hummus samples and demonstrating how to make fresh salsa.
      I would be all for feeding the poor this way, and using tax dollars to do so!

          I’m sorry, but I have to disagree on this one. The way to deal with abuse is to punish the individual abusers.

          The “all health food” store thing would be a disaster. It is EXACTLY what we already have in the education system … a government-run monopoly!

          How much ABUSE has that led to … abuse I might point out that is a lot harder to deal with than prosecuting specific bad actors.

          I was on food stamps occasionally and was very grateful for them. The requirements were stringent and some who truly needed them did not qualify.

      It is infuriating how this admin is using our brave young men to fight their politically correct war. Kill these suckers and get the hell out of there!
      My dear friend’s son is training to be a navy seal. We are praying that this SOB is out of the white house before he is deployed. Barry has no respect for our troops. He will demoralize them so much that we will no longer have anyone willing to protect our liberty.
      But I am sure, that is one of his ploys.

    Sorry for all my typos. I got a D in typing because I was so bad at seeing typos; the only bad grade I ever got and it still haunts me. My teacher would give us zeros if we missed a typo when we proofread. I have always had very poor eyesight, and I just do not see things unless I read them over and over, and who has time.
    Well that is my excuse and I am sticking with it.

      (p.s. If you like, I can correct typos for you. I was proofreader on the school newspaper when I was in college, and I had a part-time job in the English department, where one of my responsibilities was going through student essays and correcting all their grammar, spelling, and punctuation blunders before the professor graded them on their actual content. It was fun, but I wore out a LOT of red pens in the process.)

          Oh, that sounds about right for you, Pete! Your teacher was a saint, right?
          So many qualities in students drive a teacher crazy, but they turn out to be the same qualities that make a successful adult, so sometimes you just learn to put up with it instead of trying to change it. One of my most maddening students could have gone on to be the next Leno or Letterman, but sadly he died in his 20’s.

          I am off for a weekend away with my daughter, mother, niece, and sister. I will probably have a sore throat from talking so much by the time I get home late Sun. night. Keep the home fires burning, and watch out when Chrissy gets a look at the military article. It will be an epic response, I trust!

        Bob, teachers don’t use red pens any longer. Apparently, the red marks all over the papers were hurting the kids’ feelings. I think now they use the color of rainbows, lollipops and unicorns.

          I think you’re right, Kelly — I remember hearing about that. But I went to school back in the 70s, when red pens were still legal. I probably hurt a LOT of students’ feelings. I lose a lot of sleep over it, to this day. 🙂

    My sincerest condolences on the sad passing of your loved one, Pete. I mean that from the bottom of my caffeine addicted heart. One thing Dearest and I agree on 100% when it comes to our home finances … We Do Not Allow Chrissy to Run Out of Coffee. Ever.
