As Obama Democrats and the United Nations conspire to disarm Americans, law-abiding Americans have organized to push back.

Half a dozen state legislatures have bills in the works declaring unconstitutional rules, regulations, and executive orders will not be allowed.

Wyoming’s bill says that any official charged with infringing on the gun rights of Wyoming citizens shall, upon conviction, be subject to a $5,000 fine and imprisonment for not less than one year and one day or more than five years.

Sources close to the Tenth Amendment Center indicate as many as a dozen more states could follow suit in the coming weeks.

There are about 17 states that already have some type of freedom act for firearms. Some, like Alaska, are looking to upgrade their existing laws in the face of Obama’s gun grab.

Although the federal government imposes regulations and licensing requirements under the Commerce Clause, which regulates commerce among the states, these states challenge that weapons that don’t cross state lines are exempt.

Montana’s Firearms Freedom Act was launched in 2009 and is currently under review at the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.

Montana also has raised the issue that gun-making certainly was going on at the time Montana became a state under a compact in 1889, the federal government was not given permission then to restrict that activity and cannot arbitrarily decide to do so now.

Meanwhile, the pro-gun-control Journal News (Westchester, Rockland and Putnam counties of New York) published an interactive map targeting the homes of all legal gun owners in the area. The Journal News then hired armed guards to protect its staff, which was not hypocritical of them AT ALL. /sarc

Here are some of the Letters to the Editor this pro-gun-control map inspired:

  • Like Bloomberg and all the others, you say ‘get rid of the guns,’ while you have bodyguards and armed security.
  • You hire someone with Second Amendment rights to protect your First Amendment rights. Pathetic.
  • Legal owners are not the problem! May this stand destroy what the Internet has not yet destroyed of your newspaper.
  • Will you be publishing a list of everyone in Rockland and Westchester who has a legitimate prescription for pain meds, because pain medicine kills far more people every year than guns. Make sure to highlight prescription holders who are old and frail, so junkies will know who they can most easily rob.
  • I hope you get sued by everyone whose house is robbed.
  • There is no longer one reporter in this entire country who I trust to tell the truth anymore.
  • I hope you are sued and go out of business. I tell everyone about what you did.
  • How about publishing names and addresses of all the executives of the newspaper. Not so brave about doing that, are you?
  • As I’m sure your research shows, the presence of legal firearms serves as a deterrent to criminals. By identifying gun owners, you have identified those whose homes are NOT protected. Why not print a map of rich people to go with it?
  • Instead of printing private info about law obeying citizens, why don you expose those who carry illegally?
  • Guns don’t kill people. People kill people.
  • Criminals can use your map to steal legal guns with which they can then assault the homes of those who are unprotected. Way to go.
  • If someone uses your First Amendment protected map to steal my Second Amendment protected gun and then illegally harms someone with it, who will be responsible? You and your map? Me and my gun? Or the criminal who actually aimed and fired?
  • What you have done is yell fire in a theater.
  • I hope you are held responsible for ANY robberies that occur at the addresses that you published.

Since The Journal News published a map of gun owners, two of the identified homes have been burgled and had said guns stolen. In a White Plains, NY, neighborhood that had not had a burglary in 15 years, thieves used a ladder to break through a window on the upper floor and break into the homeowner’s gun safe. In Clarkstown, NY, thieves opened two safes and stole a third. Their booty included a .45 Colt revolver and a .22 Iver Johnson handgun along with the two pistol permits to own them. I wonder if the newspaper’s insurance will cover all of the damages they could be facing once the lawsuits start getting filed?
