First,thank you all for the kind words yesterday. I put a lot of effort into trying to bring you things you may not find if you don’t have the time to surf that I do. Friday is usually the day I post mostly positive,uplifting news after the normal depravity and chaos that has consumed our culture. I did find some fun things,but some of it is not so cheerful. But it is what it is. Since DW is visiting her dad for a few days,after I finish the post today I’m treating myself to one of the best Italian beef sandwiches in town and an order of breaded mushrooms. Mama can’t stand them,but I LOVE mushrooms so I have to seize the opportunity when it arises. It may not be the healthiest food choice,but I don’t have a lot to lose at this point so might as well enjoy life now.

California carbon auction brings in another $1 billion
IT DIDN’T TAKE LONG FOR DEMOCRATS TO RUN THIS ONCE-BEAUTIFUL STATE RIGHT INTO THE GROUND,DID IT?
California’s industrial firms spent another $1 billion in the most recent auction of carbon emissions credits, state officials said Thursday.
The California Air Resources Board said its latest quarterly auction of carbon credits raised around $1.06 billion, making it one of the largest sales in the program’s 2 1/2-year history.
Prices ranged from $12.10 to $12.29 per ton, which is roughly in line with previous auctions
Even as the program has grown, controversy persists. Business lobbying groups sued to block the state-run auctions, saying they are essentially a tax that didn’t get the required two-thirds legislative approval. The lawsuit failed but is being appealed.
The program generated additional controversy in January when it was extended, for the first time, to cover the carbon emitted from motor vehicle tailpipes. The result was a quick 10 cents-a-gallon increase in retail gas prices.

The 105-page agreement details new rules for how officers employ, report and investigate uses of deadly and nonlethal force, to include prohibitions against shooting at moving vehicles, striking suspects in the head with their firearms and using stun guns to inflict pain, examples of which were cited in the DOJ investigative findings.
A striking component of the decree is the level of civilian authority in vital areas of police administration and oversight.
The agreement calls for a civilian to head the internal affairs unit, rather than a member of the police command staff. And a civilian will be appointed to the new position of police inspector general. No former employees of the Cleveland police department can hold those positions.

This kind of thing makes me furious. I have several friends who are on disability, mostly due to injuries (some of which were received on the job) that make it impossible for them to work. All of them paid into the system while they were employed, and all of them need it now for survival. To see people who don’t need it scamming the system, and lawyers getting rich helping them do it, makes wish I could hunt down those scammers and inflict a disability on them that would justify all the taxpayer money they’ve raked in.

The Westboro screed said “God Hates Nebraska.” Uhhhhhhhh … say what? There are passages in Scripture that come pretty darn close to saying God hates those who have given themselves over to sin.
Psalm 11:5 for example. “The Lord …. hates those who love violence.”
But everybody living in a state? Excuse me? Plus, it’s clear from the overall message of the Bible that someone who “loves” violence) or any other sin) has made that sin a false idol (Old Testament) and is trying to serve two masters (New Testament).
Westboro is on very thin ice theologically. They seem to “love” their “violence” a whole lot too much. They are also guilty on a number of counts listed in Proverbs 6:16-19.

Oh, it’s all veiled in honorariums and donations to charities, but when you get down to it, Bill Clinton took a fifth of the donations from the Happy Hearts Fund before he would agree to appear at one of the organizations fund raisers. Happy Hearts raised $2.5 million to build schools in Haiti and Bill took a $500,000 honorarium.
Funny, the original intention of an honorarium was to compensate speakers for their cost (travel, room and board, etc.), not as another term for an outright appearance fee. Clinton’s shielded the payment from income taxes by having it directed to the Foundation instead of lining Bill’s pockets directly.
There is going to be a monster cashout after Hillary’s bid is over. Of course the foundation is already spending tens of millions in noncharitable expenses, I’m sure a lot of that is going to friends and family.
