Today is National Aviation Day, and so thoughts turn to our fathers who burned through tons of aviation fuel to keep America safe and make global warming possible. Somebody had to do it. And they did it with style. Here’s my pop, not long before he died, getting ready to do some dog-fighting just for fun with the SkyFighters at the Centennial Airport in Denver.

“We as faithful Catholic take literally what Jesus said.”
Gospel reading for Sunday, August 16, 2015 – John 6:51-58
Jesus said to the crowds: “I am the living bread that came down from heaven; whoever eats this bread will live forever; and the bread that I will give is my flesh for the life of the world.”
The Jews quarreled among themselves, saying, “How can this man give us his flesh to eat?”
Jesus said to them, “Amen, amen, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you do not have life within you. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him on the last day. For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me and I in him. Just as the living Father sent me and I have life because of the Father, so also the one who feeds on me will have life because of me. This is the bread that came down from heaven. Unlike your ancestors who ate and still died, whoever eats this bread will live forever.”
Father Rob’s Homily: 2015-08-16 20th Sunday in Ordinary Time (14.4M)
“Jesus said, ‘Eat my flesh and drink my blood.’ … There are real consequences to receiving Eucharist … We are living breathing, walking, talking, interacting tabernacles … bringing Jesus out to the world. … Others should see Christ in us. … What kind of tabernacle do you look like?“

THE HUBRIS IS STUNNING
Hillary Clinton is a cold, calculating, unfeeling shell without a soul who is fueled by greed and a lust for power. She will steamroll over and destroy anybody who gets in her way. She’s not the least bit likeable and expects the highest office in the land to be handed to her because she was jilted once.
She was a miserable failure as a lawyer but was smart enough to recognize a slimy, bulbous-nosed, pathological liar who was incredibly charming had potential and hitched her wagon to his star. Theirs is more a partnership than a relationship and I suspect it’s been so for many, many years. He is a sexual predator and I have no doubt a serial rapist. He does ’em, she shuts ’em up. Whether through bribery or intimidation; whatever works. I’d bet my retirement check it continues today.
So why is this woman (allegedly) who’s well-versed in the art of crime, coverup, and the seedy side of politics now looking like a ham-handed beginner? She seems completely detached from reality and fully expects her minions in the press and the democrat party to support her as she tries to get out from under the mountain of lies she’s woven to cover up her abject criminality.
Hillary’s Minions added by CtH, cuz I can. 🙂

Hillary Clinton: The Spin, the Cover-Up, and the Crime
Hillary Clinton rolled the dice in Las Vegas with a hilariously awful press conference, in which she once again pretended to be a doddering old granny who doesn’t know much about these newfangled “computer” contraptions all the kids are playing with.

Bonus cringe points for showing up in an outfit that looked uncomfortably like an orange prison jumpsuit, and making an incredibly clumsy attempt to look innocently surprised that produced one of the most unflattering photos ever snapped of a presidential candidate. Who the hell is advising Clinton on how to handle this scandal, and can Republicans buy him or her a drink?
Hillary goes to Vegas, loses big with performance at press conference
Even normally supportive liberal pundits were appalled at her performance. Ron Fournier of the National Journal, who has known and been fond of the Clintons since covering them in Little Rock, counted six separate lies, evasions, and mis-directions in appearances on Fox News and MSNBC. Even Chris Matthews was shocked, discussing the presser on MSNBC’s Morning Joe this morning.

Fox News’ Ed Henry Rattles Hillary at Shaky Press Conference: ‘Did You Wipe the Server Clean?’
THIS IS WHY SHE DOESN’T ANSWER QUESTIONS.
“Look, Ed, I take responsibility,” Clinton replied. “In retrospect, this didn’t turn out to be convenient at all and I regret that this has become such a cause celebre. But that does not change the facts. The facts are stubborn – what I did was legally permitted

YOU’RE IN TROUBLE, RIGHT? YOU NEED SUPPORT, RIGHT? HERE’S HOW YOU FOMENT GOOD WILL:
Wow. Hillary refuses to hug supporter.
During a rally Tuesday a top supporter told Hillary she came to the rally to give her a hug from Sen. Cory Booker.
Hillary told her to sit down and she would hug her later.

FBI: Yep, We Can Recover Data on Clinton’s Server “Someone” Tried to Delete
We learned yesterday that the technology firm Clinton hired to host her server, again carrying top secret classified information, was stored in a bathroom closet in Colorado. Clinton had previously claimed her use of a private server was fine because it was a) set up for President Bill Clinton b) protected by the Secret Service (it wasn’t). Last week we learned Clinton once asked for a book about how to delete emails and how to make sure they “stay deleted.” Over the weekend, Clinton made a terrible “joke” about how she loves SnapChat because “those messages disappear all by themselves.”

Hillary Clinton 2016: Campaign wants donors to pay for their own food, parking
The request, released publicly by the FEC on Tuesday afternoon, sketches out a novel accounting plan under which the Clinton campaign would shift some fundraising costs to donors, without counting against their contribution limits.
THERE’S NOTHING WORSE THAN A CHEAP CROOK.
Still, at least one campaign finance watchdog warned that the request could open the door for campaigns to offload all manner of other expenses to deep-pocketed supporters, allowing them to provide more assistance to candidates than envisioned by federal contribution limits.
The Shrug Heard Round the World: Hillary Clinton Jokes About Wiping Email Server ‘with a Cloth’
After a townhall appearance in Las Vegas, Hillary Clinton was asked if she had attempted to “wipe” her server. She replied, “What, like, with a cloth or something?”
Ed Henry asked. Hillary replied, “Well, my personal emails are my personal business.” Hillary then repeated her claim, made since March, that her staff went through a “painstaking” process to identify any work-related emails and turned those over to the State Department.
When Henry suggested, “You know how it works digitally,” Hillary denied it, saying, “I don’t know how it works digitally at all.” Hillary then suggested questions about the contents of the server would be for “the people investigating it to try and figure out.” She did not mention the FBI directly.

Judge Nap: ‘Gut Feeling Is Hillary Will Be Charged Over Private Emails’
Judge Andrew Napolitano said today his “gut” feeling is that the Justice Department will end up bringing charges against Hillary Clinton over private emails that contained classified information.
There are now reportedly more than 300 emails that have been flagged as potentially classified. The number could grow as federal agents continue to go through the trove of documents.

FINALLY, FROM STILTON:
Seriously, why isn’t this woman already being held in custody instead of making jokes like “you may have seen that I recently launched a Snapchat account. I love it. I love it. Those messages disappear all by themselves.” Hardy-har-har! Doing irreparable harm to our nation’s security is funny, right?
But not as funny as Hillary’s promise, in the same speech in Iowa, that “I will do my part to bring transparency to Americans.” Seriously, isn’t that the kind of lie which is supposed to cause people to burst into flames or be struck by lightning? Or, preferably, both?

Frustratingly, it seems to Hope n’ Change that genuine evil happily floats atop waves of ignorance in much the same way that a toxic oil slick floats atop water – not incidentally choking the life out of everything below.
And speaking of water, we think it’s high time to take the fluoride out and put a buttload of caffeine in. Because Americans are showing no signs of waking up in the near future.

Sex change regret: A trail of misery
People who suffer from gender confusion are encouraged by the current cultural climate to reject the gender they were born with. Is that the best thing for them? Or is Satan once again using “tolerance” as a means to destroy God’s children?
The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention found that over 41% of active “transgender” people try to kill themselves. That’s ten times the national average. A dozen other surveys worldwide have found the same alarmingly high suicide rates.
Walt’s Welcome
The transgender lobby suppresses transgender regret stories as much as the abortion lobby suppresses abortion regret stories. But that doesn’t mean they aren’t out there.
Alan “Helen” Finch says, “Giving surgery to someone desperate to change sex is a bit like offering liposuction to an anorexic.”
Tennis champion Renée Richards (born Richard Raskins) is hailed at Wikipedia as “a role model and spokesperson for the transgender community. He/she wrote, “I would have been better off staying the way I was – a totally intact person[.] … I don’t want anyone to hold me out as an example to follow[.] … I get a lot of letters from people who are considering having this operation … and I discourage them all.”

THE UNENDING SILLY SEASON
Once upon a time, not so long ago, what was commonly referred to as the political silly season would starting late spring/early summer of an election year. The politically ignorant brain-dead slackers that are the Democrat base do not, by and large, encumber themselves with rational thought or facing the reality of what their benefactors have done to the country.
Nowadays an election cycle begins nanoseconds after the last election. It is a perpetual reality. This, I believe, is driven by phony journalists who graduate from the Kennedy School of Journalism and feel they must “change the world” instead of simply reporting it. They do not put forth the effort to actually investigate anything, just ape whatever the New York Times tells them to write.
Lets be clear: the democrat party would not, could not exist without the complicity of a media that a few decades ago still feigned impartiality. They carry out the attacks for democrats so they can stay above the fray and dutifully ignore the myriad outrages committed by liberals with impunity. Fast and Furious, Benghazi, the scrubbing of Cankles’ subpoenaed hard drives, or Planned Parenthood selling baby parts as if they were at a swap meet. Their base is ignorant, lazy, and only interested in what’s in it for them.
Pity. The blissfully ignorant don’t see their party bigshots squirming as their chosen one ducks and dodges to avoid the consequences of the many felonies she’s committed. They also have a doddering old socialist promising everybody everything, paid for by a 90% tax rate.
On our side, there is a small army of contenders and pretenders all vying for a piece of the spotlight that The Donald is dominating right now. While I still maintain he will not be the nominee for a number of reasons, it’s fun watching him make talking heads explode. We have more than a year to see what happens. What the heck, I got nothing else to do.

The Brilliant, Long-Range Stealth Campaign of Ted Cruz

In the marathon of US Presidential campaigns, the most important advantages are money, name-recognition and the support of one of the major party machines. But if those were the only factors, Hillary Clinton already would be at the end of her second term. They’re not. Hillary’s husband was a stealth-horse candidate (‘dark horse’ not being mentionable, currently), and so were all his political godfathers, including JFK and Jimmy Carter.
It takes only a glance at the latest Fox News poll, at right, to see who has the ‘stealth’ strength at this early date when all the attention is focused on Donald Trump. I find it very encouraging that numbers two and three on the list are such strong candidates, ideologically, cerebrally and morally. Dr. Ben Carson and Ted Cruz, whether on the same ticket or individually, are outstanding conservative candidates.
And what of Trump? Despite his potential and deep resources and the obvious benefit his strong voice has been to the contest overall, many expect him to “flame out” over the next year or so. I’m one of those people, at the moment, at least.
And, for the moment, Ted Cruz seems to be playing the ideal, long-term stealth game. Matt K. Lewis wrote a piece about this earlier today in which he praised several of Cruz’s strategic moves. Lewis has some insider knowledge about the campaigns of Cruz and Rick Perry, but no current connection with the Cruz campaign. He comments on Cruz’s decision to enlist Mississippi state Sen. Chris McDaniel:
But Cruz’s embrace of McDaniel also reminds me of something. In his book Hardball, Chris Matthews recalls how a one-term Georgia governor named Jimmy Carter was able to build a national network capable of winning the 1976 presidential nomination.
It started with the 1974 mid-terms. On the night of the ’74 elections, when the DNC chairman was calling the winners, Matthews writes, “the governor was calling the losers.”
We have a long way to go in this contest, but conservatives have found some hope, for the moment, in Donald Trump. Fortunately, one of the joys of having a deep bench is that our hope is not carried by just one rich guy and his Slovenian supermodel wife. That’s probably a good thing.
I’m not the greedy one
The word “greed” has become a BP-elevating trigger for me … ever since the summer of the Obamacare townhalls, when the deacon in my church wrote in the bulletin that those of us who opposed the bill were doing so out of greed.
The real truth is that most of us care deeply about things like equality and justice. We just differ in our beliefs about which public policies will best achieve these lofty goals.
My deacon’s arrogant and callous remark illustrates one of the other big differences I see between people like him on the Left and people like me on the Right, which is that they assume we disagree with them because we are callous scumbags, while we assume they disagree with us because they are uninformed about the anti-human outcomes of the policies they promote.
His remark also demonstrated an appalling lack of familiarity with Catholic teaching, which is summarized below and which IMHO firmly supports the policies and values of the Right, particularly of the Tea Party.
The Catechism of the Roman Catholic Church: Paragraph 2425
2425. The Church has rejected the totalitarian and atheistic ideologies associated in modem times with “communism” or “socialism.” She has likewise refused to accept, in the practice of “capitalism,” individualism and the absolute primacy of the law of the marketplace over human labor. [Cf. CA 10; 13; 44] Regulating the economy solely by centralized planning perverts the basis of social bonds; regulating it solely by the law of the marketplace fails social justice, for “there are many human needs which cannot be satisfied by the market.” [CA 34] Reasonable regulation of the marketplace and economic initiatives, in keeping with a just hierarchy of values and a view to the common good, is to be commended.
