Giving Thanks

It is at this time of year that people of faith feel most keenly about the blessings that have been bestowed upon them by the Creator of All Things. Most people feel thankful for family and friends, but we are most grateful for the Son of God who sacrificed Himself that we may have eternal life. No matter what challenges you face, you know in your heart if God brought you to it He’ll bring you through it.

Pity the liberal socialist who has replaced Almighty God with an false idol of a government monolith, providing them meager substance at the cost of their souls. Gratitude is hard to come by when you think everything is gotten without any personal sacrifice. The love of God has been replaced with arrogance and anger in their empty souls. That is why they can never be satisfied, no matter what they have. Without Grace you have basically nothing.

I am most thankful this year for the amazing doctors and staff at Rockford Memorial Hospital. I went in for an angioplasty Tuesday and everything went well. I had a 4-way bypass in 2004 and one of the bypasses had collapsed, restricting the blood flow. That was the origin of the extreme pain I would feel sometimes. The cardiologist put in a stent and everything should be fine now. They kept me overnight for observation and I came home yesterday. The third shift CNA is an older black lady and we became friends. I even talked her into getting me some coffee from the nurses station at 4AM, since they didn’t start serving breakfast until 6:30. We talked for some time about kids, grandkids, and a lot of things in general. I told her that God puts people in your life for a reason. We’ll probably never meet again, but I was thankful to get to know her for the time we had. I’ll always remember that cup of coffee. It’s funny how life works that way sometimes.

My daughter works in the billing department at the hospital and she brought the grandkids to see me after she finished work Tuesday. They weren’t used to seeing somebody like that, and I think they may have been a little grossed out when I described the procedure I had. We all hugged and are looking forward to seeing each other soon.

Not the least of what I’m thankful for is having a new president. It remains to be seen what kind of leader he turns out to be, but it’s a safe bet he’s worlds better than the alternative. I love all of you here so much it would have been most difficult to say goodbye rather than have to document any more years of a democrat reign of terror.

The honey badger of corruption investigators

U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara is responsible for having put New York State’s senior Democrat AND senior Republican behind bars.

bharara

He’s also the guy who has been going after Democrat Anthony Wiener and the Clinton Foundation.

Now, his case to a grand jury has resulted in corruption indictments against eight top aides and associates of Democrat Governor Andrew Cuomo.

Clearly, Bharara gets stuff done.  But don’t hold your breath waiting on the MSM to report any of this.

“As a side note, I find it interesting that when aides to New Jersey Governor Chris Christie are charged or convicted on something related to Bridgegate it consumes the news cycle for days on end. When the same thing happens to Andrew Cuomo it’s apparently a ‘local news story.’ Funny how that works, eh?” – Jazz Shaw at Hot Air

Hoo-Rah! NASA is going back to being a SPACE agency!

In 1958, President Dwight D. Eisenhower established National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) to encourage peaceful, civilian (rather than military) applications in  aeronautics and aerospace research.

NASA is an independent agency of the executive branch, meaning the current president gets to set its agenda.

  • In 1961, President John F. Kennedy told NASA to go to the moon.
  • In 1972, President Richard M. Nixon directed NASA to shift its attention to developing an entirely new type of space transportation system, a reusable Space Shuttle.
  • In 1984, President Ronald W. Reagan directed NASA to build a Space Station.
  • In 1990, President George H. W. Bush chartered a committee which recommended NASA aim for a balanced space program that included human space flight, robotic probes, space science, applications, and exploration, all within a tightly constrained budget.
  • In 2010, President Barack H. Obama told NASA to focus on inspiring children to get into science and math, reaching out to Muslims to help them feel good about their historic contribution to science, math and engineering, and making up crap to pimp the administration’s energy killing climate change agenda.

Hoo-Rah!  THAT is all about to change.

  1. First off, President-Elect Donald J. Trump is a climate change skeptic.  This does not mean that he thinks the climate naturally stays the same.  Everyone knows it doesn’t.   What it means is that he doesn’t believe that man’s activities affect our climate and therefore that the punishing energy regulations the climate change activists have been foisting on us for 8 years should go away.
  2. Secondly, President-Elect Trump thinks an organization called the National Aeronautics and Space Administration should, you know, engage in aeronautic and space exploration.  What a concept!

YES!

Trump named pro-life Governor Nikki Haley as his United Nations ambassador.  We hope and pray she can put a stop to the pro-abortion agenda that the Obama administration and other pro-abortion nations have tried to force on to the U.N.  Pro-life Lt. Gov. Henry McMaster will step up to take over the governorship of South Carolina.

Trump appointed another strong pro-life female, Betsy DeVos, to his cabinet as education secretary.  DeVos is also an advocate for school choice, a cause dear to my heart.

The CDC’s 2013 abortion stats are out, showing the lowest rate since 1971, two years before the U.S. Supreme Court forced legalized abortion on every state in the U.S.  Pro-lifers have been working hard getting laws passed, doing sidewalk counseling, holding prayer vigils in front of abortion clinics, and running pregnancy resource centers.

Happy Thanksgiving from Baby Bootz!!

A Millennial Speaks Out

“The majority of rhetoric going around says that if you’re white, you have an inherent advantage in life. I would argue that, at least for the members of these small impoverished communities, their whiteness only harms them as it keeps their immense struggles out of the public eye.

“Rural Americans suffer from a poverty rate that is 3 points higher than the poverty rate found in urban America. In Southern regions, like Appalachia, the poverty rate jumps to 8 points higher than those found in cities. One fifth of the children living in poverty live rural areas. The children in this ‘forgotten fifth’ are more likely to live in extreme poverty and live in poverty longer than their urban counterparts. 57% of these children are white.”
