MASCOTS: On Sunday, Nonno and the Buzzers went to DC, parked near the Air and Space Museum, walked to the Washington Monument and around that area, then looped back along the tidal basin enjoying the cherry blossoms. They also dipped their feet in the beautiful fountain at the WWII memorial. And hurray! Buzz said, “Nonno,” for probably the first time ever. 🙂 (Reminder: He’s autistic. Speech is very hard for him.)

TRUMP’S TAX RETURNS: Another dead horse for House Democrats to beat instead of governing – White House Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney said that Democrats will “never” see President Trump’s tax returns. “Nor should they. That’s an issue that was already litigated during the election. Voters knew the president could have given his tax returns, they knew that he didn’t, and they elected him anyway,” Mulvaney said on Fox News Sunday.

HOMELAND SECRETARY OUT: Kirstjen Neilsen has resigned as Secretary of Homeland Security amid some tensions with President Trump, who has said he wants tougher policies. Kevin McAleenan, commissioner of the U.S. Customs and Border Protection, will become acting DHS secretary.
ILHAN OMAR LIES: Her tweet storm following Neilsen’s resignation, and the debunking that followed, are fun and informative, but much too long to reproduce here. Click if you’re interested.

BALDWIN: Best tweet responses –
- I believe Alec Baldwin would achieve the same degree of success in a preezy run as he did hosting a talk radio show.
- cc: Hillary Clinton.
ANOTHER JEXODUS MOMENT: Netanyahu “doesn’t represent the people of Israel”? Funny how they keep re-electing him.
“This is today’s Democratic Party: Viciously attacking the duly elected leader of Israel & falsely labeling him a racist for defending the Jewish people. There was a time when support for Israel was rightly bipartisan. But then the Dems began courting the anti-Semitic Left.” – Sen. Ted Cruz

OBAMA’S OBSTRUCTION OF JUSTICE: From Matt Margolis at PJ Media – The Obama administration was plagued by multiple scandals; obstructing investigations was standard operating procedure.
In August 2014, 47 of 73 inspectors general wrote an open letter to Congress informing them that the Obama administration of obstructing investigations by not giving them full access to the information they need to investigate properly. Such a letter was unprecedented, and the systemic corruption and obstruction the inspectors general would have been considered an impeachable defense for almost any other president. Emboldened by the lack of outrage (thanks to lack of media attention to the scandal) emboldened the Obama administration to impose new restrictions on the investigative powers of inspectors general. Imagine President Trump trying to get away with that today?
Read the rest. There’s some serious dirt there.
DOUGLAS MAINWARING: This article by a former gay man is a must read for all devout, Catholic-Christians.
“The time has come to look at homosexuality in the Church using a truer, although perhaps harsher, lens than has been used in recent decades.”
CATHOLIC SCHOOL vs. GAY ACTIVISM: On Wednesday, Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) will file a powerful groundbreaking lawsuit against a local Ohio sexual orientation gender identity (SOGI) non-discrimination law that some say may become the most significant religious freedom case since Masterpiece Cakeshop v. Colorado Civil Rights Commission (2018). This lawsuit aims to protect a small Catholic school from stifling LGBT laws that cut to the heart of religious education.
MAY GOD HAVE MERCY ON HER: Actress Allison Mack leaves Brooklyn federal court Monday, April 8, 2019, in New York. Mack pleaded guilty to racketeering charges in a case involving NXIVM, which allegedly recruited sex slaves for its spiritual leader, Keith Raniere.
WORD NERD: OPUSCULUM — n. oh-PUSK-yuh-lum: A minor work (as of literature). In English, opus can refer to any literary or artistic work, though it often specifically refers to a musical piece. Being a diminutive of opus, opusculum logically refers to a short or minor work. Unlike its more famous relation, however, opusculum is most often used for literary works.
However, since opusculum sounds to me like a combination of infectious exudation and a certain tool that males of a non-medical persuasion never, ever have to encounter, I promise to never, ever use it. Like EVER.

All my writings, toons, and tunes are quite brief. I may change my handle to Mindful Webopuscula.
