WordPress has officially FORCED DOWN MY THROAT a new and VERY CONFUSING editor.
But wait … I have a “very simple” option to restore the old, familiar, Classic editor (which I can use with my eyes closed).
Slight hitch … we’d have to upgrade to “Business” to use it … for the “no way in HELL” PRICE OF $25 PER MONTH.
Thursday, September 3rd, 2020 is OFFICIALLY STARTING OFF VERY BADLY!!
My 9/3 Bits & Bytes is all written and formatted, because I do it in a text editor the day before, then polish and post after it’s had time to simmer. (Actually, after I’ve had some rest and can see my own typos!)
If the 9/3 edition EVER appears here, picture me sweaty and probably sitting in a corner somewhere sucking my thumb.

Oh no !!!
Surely not sucking the thump,

Oh, chrissy, I’ve been concerned about if and when the new “improved” WordPress interface would hit you. WP’s philosophy seems to be, it ain’t broke, so let’s ‘fix’ it. I’d bet there’s a huge outcry from bloggers that they will ignore.
I did test the new “blockhead editor,” early-on. Not only is the new interface horrible for the blogger, so is the HTML code it produces. The traditional editor created passable HTML, not as tight as I would write it, but clean. Not the new one. I wonder which kind of code the new editor, overlaid with the pay-for old editor add-on, produces, but I’m not going to hang around to find out.
I started my soft-features Other People’s Stuff blog just to see what the WP experience was like, and, very much so I could advise you on tech things if needed. I got into it and started my Other People’s Videos blog, which was fun and getting popular. And then I started a more-hard-news blog, Heap o’Links, and that was starting to grow nicely.
When they forced the new editor on us, quite grudgingly, I quit all three of my WP blogs.
I have revived my “Blog Heap o’Links” page on my main (non-WP) website. No videos or pix, just text and links and little icon pix. And writing in raw HTML again. Siiigh.

The pay-to-go-back-to-how-it-was seems like a huge bait-and-switch scam.
I do pray PoliNation can continue somehow.

You’re not kidding about the MESS. I just tried to block/copy some text from my in-progress 9/4 Bits & Bytes to drop into my Facebook timeline. I’ve been doing this for ages with no problem. Not now. Look at the crap it copied! Fortunately, I compose in a text editor, so I can use that.
