Joyce Purnick, in her 2009 biography, Mike Bloomberg: Money, Power, Politics, describes the billionaire presidential wannabe as “curt, profane, cranky, and willful,” and “allergic to introspection.”

Bloomberg is also a rampant sexist, with a long and disturbing history of misogynistic comments and behavior toward women.

GRATITUDE: Gratitude isn’t a feeling; it’s a choice. – Neuroscientists have proven that gratitude makes you happier and healthier. The study divided participants into three groups who were all asked to keep a journal:

• One wrote down what happened during the week for which they were grateful.
• Another wrote down what happened that irritated or annoyed them.
• The third wrote down stuff that happened without any emphasis on positive or negative emotions.

At the end of ten weeks, the gratitude group reported feeling more optimistic and positive about their lives than the other two groups. In addition, they were more physically active and reported fewer visits to a doctor than those who wrote only about their negative experiences.

My latest update from the campaign trail.

TRUMP ECONOMY: A new Gallup Poll found that a record 61% of Americans say they feel better off now than they did three years ago.

That’s much higher than any of the last four Presidents who were facing reelection. In 2012, when Obama was running for a second term, only 45% of Americans felt better off than they had when Obama first took office.

CONFESSIONS OF A WOKE KNITTER: Karlyn Borysenko writes in “After Attending a Trump Rally, I Realized Democrats Are Not Ready For 2020” –

“I knit as a way to relax and escape the drama of real life, not to further engage with it. But it was impossible to ignore after roving gangs of online social justice warriors started going after anyone in the knitting community who was not lockstep in their ideology. Knitting stars on Instagram were bullied and mobbed by hundreds of people for seemingly innocuous offenses. One man got mobbed so badly that he had a nervous breakdown and was admitted to the hospital on suicide watch. Many things were not right about the hatred, and witnessing the vitriol coming from those I had aligned myself with politically was a massive wake-up call. …

“When I witnessed the amount of hate coming from the left in this small, niche knitting community, I started to question everything. I started making a proactive effort to break my echo chamber by listening to voices I thought I would disagree with. I wanted to understand their perspective, believing it would confirm that they were filled with hate for anyone who wasn’t like them. That turned out not to be the case.”

Obviously, I want my fellow Catholics to watch it. I taught RCIA for 5 years and I still learned some cool stuff!

But I also hope my precious non-Catholic readers will watch it too. I’m not out to proselytize anybody; I sincerely believe we should each be in the church the Holy Spirit chooses.

I’m not looking for anyone to assent to the doctrine, but rather just to accurately understand it.

There’s far too much “fake news” out there about Catholic doctrine.  I believe this hinders us from being strong allies in this spiritual war we’re fighting.
