I'm a 60 something wife, mom and grandmom who is homebound/disabled by severe hypersensitivity to chemicals. I fill my days with learning, loving and art. My favorite values are truth, generosity and gratitude.
DAILY PRAYER: Dear Lord, Not to nag, but seeing as how You allowed Mama Buzz to suffer from chemical sensitivities, it seems like it’s Your job to provide safe housing. We know it is within Your power to perfectly cleanse their new and newly renovated home of all its problems and kill all the ticks in the yard as well. In this trust, we ask You to send Your angels right now to get it all done. In Jesus’ Holy Name. Amen.
HUNTER: The law firm Winston & Strawn LLP represented Hunter Biden in federal investigations. Surprise, surprise (not), Hunter hasn’t paid them. The firm has filed a lawsuit in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia seeking reparations.
MIDTERMS: After Sen. Thom Tillis (R-N.C.) voted against the Big, Beautiful Bill, Trump warned he might move to primary him. Tillis has announced he won’t run for reelection in the 2026 midterms.
PSA: Genuine USPS messages never include links. [2:12] – There may be people who pay for those 50% off stamps and get nothing, but my daughter ordered some without thinking it through and got a package of legit looking stamps. We took them to the post office; the manager looked at them and said she would accept them, because they look real. I then called the local police and had a wonderful visit with the officer who came over. He agreed that they were almost certainly counterfeit, but looked so real, he couldn’t tell the difference either. We decided not to use them, because it felt like theft of services.
SCOTUS: Last week’s decision against judicial activists will grease the wheels on Trump’s efforts to stop cities from refusing to obey federal immigration laws; impose stronger voter ID and proof of citizenship requirements nation-wide; end DEI in public schools; block federal funding for medical providers who perform transgender-related procedures on minors; and, end USAID as a separate agency, canceling most of its programs, while moving the most important ones to the State Department.
GRAMMY NOTES: [32:41] – In my 30s, I worried that I was spending too much time and money making stuff, so I stopped. I lasted two weeks and never tried it again.
DAILY PRAYER: Dear Lord, Grant us the graces we need to know You more fully, to love You more deeply, and to serve You more perfectly. In Jesus’ Name, we pray. Amen.
FREDDY: Yesterday, I reported on the airport security beagle who got kicked by the jerk whose luggage he outed. Today, Border Patrol posted, Thanks to everyone for their concern about Freddy who was injured while performing his duties at Dulles airport. He was treated by his veterinarian, and is expected to make a full recovery. Here he is enjoying his favorite comfort treat – a Pup Cup!
GROK: Dearest was suspicious of a text he got telling him UPS needed to schedule a delivery. I went to X and asked Grok if the URL was a scam or a genuine link. I got back “The URL https://www.ups.com@servicemik.cfd/us is not a genuine UPS link and is likely a scam.” It then gave us a detailed analysis, including the fact that the .cfd thing is used a lot by scammers.
LANGUAGE: Reply posted by Ahmed Saleh – Well, you see, after a thorough consideration of the available information, coupled with an exhaustive mental inventory of everything I’ve learned, observed, or experienced up until this moment, I must conclude that despite my best efforts to analyze the question from every conceivable angle, I am, regrettably, unable to provide a definitive answer to this question. In short, I don’t know.
I asked Grok at X. It said, “Half a dozen” is used instead of “six” for a few reasons. It’s a concise way to express the number six, rooted in the fact that a dozen is twelve, so half of that is six. The phrase carries a folksy, idiomatic charm, often used in casual speech or writing to add flavor or emphasis, like saying “a couple” instead of “two.” It can also imply an approximate count, suggesting a small, manageable group without being overly precise. For example, “I bought half a dozen eggs” feels more conversational than “I bought six eggs.” Historically, it ties to trade and commerce, where items like eggs or rolls were commonly sold by the dozen, making “half a dozen” a natural shorthand. Plus, it just rolls off the tongue nicely in certain contexts.
In short, it sounds folksy and is fun to say.
PSA: Voicemails are typically stored on the server of your cellular network provider, not directly on your phone.
SCOTUS: On X, @shipwreckedcrew wrote, The FACT that six Justices were OK with signing onto an opinion where Justice Barrett took a personal shot at Justice Jackson is a VERY STRONG indication that Jackson has alienated her colleagues and there is a growing lack of respect for her work. Justices circulate Memos among with their legal views on certain cases in order to bring others around to their thinking. Given what she has written in her dissent, imagine the memos that Jackson must have sent around in this case. Barrett aptly boils it down to a single point — Jackson would elevate the primacy of single district judges about the Executive because they are “the court” in the separation of powers.
Not The Bee (link below) highlighted some of the worst quotations from Jackson’s decision, including the use of the colloquial phrases “full stop” and “. . . (wait for it) . . .”
The thread on that post is an interesting read. Samples: My crystal ball predicts Jackson will be “pushed” out” forcing her to retire from SCOTUS. … Let’s be honest…in a non-DEI world, KBJ wouldn’t have made the top 50 list of candidates for nomination to SCOTUS. … Jackson was picked by Autopen to fill a quota. Another commenter noted that Jackson rudely failed to end with the customary “respectfully dissent.”
GRAMMY NOTES: I recall reading about a longitudinal study that compared mortality rates for people who ate restrictive diets. The people in the middle, those who had eaten a balanced diet, lived the longest.
DAILY PRAYER: Dear Lord, Thank You for another day, Lord. May we each use it to Your glory. In Jesus’ Name, we pray. Amen.
CBP: Good riddance.
CONVICTED: On Friday, Felipe Orduna-Torres and Armando Gonzalez-Ortega were fined $250 ,000 each and sentenced to die in prison for their roles in stuffing 66 wannabe illegals into a tractor trailer without air conditioning. Fifty-three of their “clients” died inside the sweltering hot box. The dead included six children and a pregnant woman, so make that 54 who died.
The full text of the bill is @ https://www.congress.gov/bill/119th-congress/house-bill/875. Unlike many bills that have nice-sounding titles while being filled with pork, this one simply means what it says. That is, any illegal alien who drives while impaired is deportable. Whatcha wanna bet that “illegals who drive drunk vote Democrat” is the real motivation behind those NAY votes?
DEPORTATIONS: In the five months since Trump took office, 2,711 members of Tren de Aragua have been removed from our communities. TdA is one of the most violent criminal organizations in the world.
FBI: Since Trump took office, the agency has arrested 4,000 violent criminals, a 62% increase from the same period last year, including three of the FBI’s Top Ten Most Wanted, an unnamed number of cartel leaders, 825 violent child predators, and 140 human traffickers. These arrests have helped bring the murder rate in our country to its lowest level ever recorded. Fibbies have also assisted other LEOs in apprehending 18,000 illegal aliens and arresting more than 700 rioters.
SCOTUS: There is a lot of chatter on the ‘net today about the Supremes’ 6-3 vote to stop activist judges from interfering with POTUS’ executive powers.
GRAMMY NOTES: I’ve been sewing for 69 years. I learned a lot of stuff I never knew from this excellent video. [19:28] – Because I am hypersensitive to chemicals, I have to prewash everything, sometimes more than once, before I can sew. Even after pre-washing, I often can not use flannels. I don’t know why, but they still give me a rash.
DAILY PRAYER: Dear Lord, Thank You for knowing each one of us inside and out. In Jesus’ Name, we pray. Amen.
BIRTHRIGHT CITIZENSHIP: The Supremes voted 6-3 to overturn a lower court’s attempt to universally block Trump’s birthright citizenship executive order. The decision left open the right of individuals with standing to sue on their own behalf.
JOBS: Thanks to Trump’s tariffs and reshoring policies. GE Appliances is investing $490 million to relocate most of its washing machine production from China to Louisville, Kentucky, creating 800 new jobs for American workers.
SCOTUS: The Supremes voted 6-3 to allow states to bar Planned Parenthood from participating in Medicaid programs. The Daily Caller link below goes to a discussion of the majority vs dissenting arguments.
VAXXX: Our primary recommended we get the jab, saying it was our “best defense against COVID.” I told him, “No. It’s too dangerous.” I wonder if he remembers.
WHEN LIFE HANDS YOU LEMONS: In 1965, chemist Stephanie Kwolek was working in a DuPont lab, hunting for a new material to reinforce tires. One day, she mixed a solution that came out cloudy and strange—unlike anything her team had seen. It was thin, didn’t behave like other polymers, and almost got thrown away.
But when tested, this odd liquid spun into incredibly strong fibers. Stephanie’s “mistake” became Kevlar, a revolutionary synthetic fiber five times stronger than steel by weight. It’s heat-resistant, rustproof, and is light enough to wear making it ideal for bulletproof vests, military helmets, space suits, and cables.
In 1995, Stephanie Kwolek was inducted into the National Inventors Hall of Fame.
GRAMMY NOTES: When I registered for classes at Cornell graduate school, there was a table for a computer dating service. I signed up; one date, zero chemistry. A year later, they called and asked if I wanted to renew. I said, “Well, since I’m getting married in about 8 hours, I guess I’ll have to pass.”
DAILY PRAYER: Dear Lord, Guard our hearts and our minds from bad doctrine and false beliefs. In Jesus’ Name, we pray. Amen.
CONNECTICUT: Connecticut Democrat State Rep Raghib Allie-Brennan voted in 2019 to ban stores from offering customers plastic bags for their purchases. He was just arrested for shoplifting and blamed it on the store not having bags.
The internet is busily repeating the idea about Obama’s “nuanced foreign policy.” I asked Grok (X’s AI) where that originated and got the below. I’m a tad freaked out that this was composed by a computer program.
“The concept of Obama’s foreign policy being ‘nuanced’ aligns with descriptions of the Obama Doctrine, which emphasized negotiation, collaboration, and multilateralism over confrontation or unilateralism, as noted in sources like Wikipedia. This doctrine was discussed as early as 2007 in Obama’s campaign speeches, with commentators analyzing it post-inauguration in 2009. However, these sources do not explicitly use the phrase ‘nuanced foreign policy’ or attribute it to a specific individual or moment. It’s likely the phrase emerged organically in political discourse during Obama’s presidency, possibly from supporters or analysts describing his preference for diplomacy and restrained military engagement compared to predecessors. The exact origin remains unclear from the available data.”
DePAUL UNIVERSITY: The school has ordered a student organization with ties to Planned Parenthood to disband and cancel all events. The university explained that it does not allow student groups to affiliate with outside organizations whose core missions are in direct conflict with the values and teachings of the Catholic Church. Hmm … so how did it get there in the first place?
HOMELAND SECURITY: Amid concern about sleeper cells, the feds rounded up fifteen Iranian nationals this week. Several of them are violent criminals and suspected terrorists. Mehran Makari Saheli (photo), who was ordered to leave the USA in June 2022, is a former member of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps with admitted connections to Hezbollah.
HYPOCRISY: Assistant Secretary of Homeland Security Tricia McLaughlin stated Pramila’s claims are “Absolutely FALSE. She had FULL medical, prenatal care. We have documentation to show it. Iris Dayana Monterroso-Lemus, 37, is a citizen of Guatemala who has been arrested multiple times for child abuse and is wanted on an active warrant for homicide.”
But wait, there’s more! Monterroso-Lemus is unmarried, yet has six living children. Her behaviors cost her custody of two of them. She was originally arrested for failing to appear at a custody hearing; the ICE detainer followed. Her age (37) put her pregnancy at high risk. She had experienced pelvic pain that sent her to the hospital in February before she was detained. Pramila’s claims are all based on Monterroso-Lemus’ own account, which cannot be corroborated; you can decide whether someone with her background is a reliable witness.
And just to add the cherry on top of Democrat BS, Homeland Security had noted the conditions at the Louisiana facility were subpar in 2023. The Biden administration did nothing to fix it.
MEDIA: [8:20] – On Tuesday, Trump called CNN and MSNBC “gutless losers” over their reporting that our bombing had not totally ended Iran’s ability to develop nuclear weapons. Also on Tuesday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu praised Trump and said Iran’s nuclear program is in ruins.
MILITARY: [8:20] – CLICK https://www.youtube.com/shorts/GxnohZEMMss to hear Nick Freitas answer, “How did your faith grow throughout your time in the military?” < This is one of the reasons I am so grateful that all three of our daughters married military believers.
NEW YUCK CITY: CLICK https://x.com/FoxNews/status/1938158683038343385 [:59] to hear DeSantis’ commentary. Rasmussen’s Mark Mitchell tweeted, “Liberals appear to be trying to maximize migration to red states prior to the next census.” I’m thinking New Yorkers should book their U-Haul rentals now.
VETERANS: VA staffers have already processed more than 2 million disability benefits claims this fiscal year, the fastest the department has ever reached that mark. In a statement, VA Secretary Doug Collins said his agency is “focused on getting results for veterans. … We are just getting started in our mission to help veterans, families, caregivers and survivors get the care and benefits they’ve earned.”
GRAMMY NOTES: [2:19] – Because Buzz wants to learn how to sew, I’ve been searching out good YouTube content made by male sewists like this guy, lest he get the idea that men don’t sew. It got me thinking how all the early sewists were men, what with women being too something or other to understand machinery. Now it’s the opposite. It’s weird too how most women are the primary cooks in their homes, yet the stereotypical chef is male … which reminds me of when my adult cousin asked his mom to make him an omelet. She said he should make it himself. He said, “I don’t know how.” She said, “You cook for a living! How can you not know how?!” He said, “I cook in a cafeteria. You want eggs for 300, I’m your guy. But an omelet for one? I have no idea!” LOL
DAILY PRAYER: Dear Lord, Thank You for air conditioning, refrigerators, clean, plentiful water and cooling rain. In Jesus’ Name, we pray. Amen.
BIDEN: [5:27] – I thought Joe’s inability to do the job was apparent during the 2020 campaign. I was only surprised that they didn’t 25th Amendment him within the first six months. I’m thinking maybe the Dems didn’t predict Jill’s lust for power and/or Kamala’s Kamala-ness.
BORDER: The Supreme voted 6-3 in favor of allowing Trump to deport illegal aliens to non-citizen nations willing to accept them. Some nations don’t want their garbage back; some illegal aliens claim they can’t be sent back, because their lives are at risk at home. The usual three dissented (Jackson, Kagan, and Sotomayor).
CLICK https://www.youtube.com/shorts/fN49ShVGGEI to hear my #1 reason to want all the illegals to have to leave and and not come back until they can do it the right way.
IRAN: Obama piled $1.7 billion in cash onto pallets and sent it all to Iran. Biden allowed them to trade oil again, which netted them many more billion$. Trump cleaned up the mess they made.
GRAMMY NOTES: Actually, the kids who got ignored learned that tantrums scored them nothing but snotty faces, headaches, and sore throats. It was the kids (like Veruca Salt) whose parents gave them whatever they wanted to shut them up who learned to scream to get what they wanted.
IRAN: [ 2:15] – Iran launched an attack on our largest military base in the Middle East. The regime told their people it was a big deal. It wasn’t. Yesterday, President Trump announced that Israel and Iran had agreed to a cease-fire.
LEFTIES LOSING IT: [15:18] – Good clips. Not sure why we need a week or a day or an hour or even one minute to “celebrate someone’s sexuality.” I don’t discuss mine. I don’t much want to hear about anyone else’s.
NO KING PROTESTS: [9:44] – I think it’s funny how little coverage I’m seeing of these protests. All the news is focused on Trump’s destruction of Iran’s nuclear program.
QUILT TERMS: [4:31] – When I was a graduate student in communication arts, my professor mentioned that the epitome of success in advertising came when a brand’s name became the public’s generic name. I was already familiar with products like “kleenex“, “saran wrap“, “band-aid“, and “post its.” Now I can add “jelly roll” to the list. 🙂
DAILY PRAYER: Dear Lord, We ask your fullest possible blessings on President Trump as he navigates the situation with Iran and Israel. In Jesus’ Name, we pray. Amen.
CANCEL CULTURE: CLICK https://www.facebook.com/reel/1945255805880699 to hear Rep. Wesley Hunt tell Bill Maher why he is proud to have lived in General Robert E. Lee Barracks at West Point.
DEMOCRATIC PARTY FINANCES: According to Elon Musk, the DNC was being funded by USAID and other NGOs that DOGE has shut down. In addition, only three large donors gave $100,000 or more to the DNC between January and April. As of the latest report, the DNC has $18 million, which is $4 million less than at the end of 2024.
Meanwhile, the Republican National Committee’s (RNC) funds grew by an astronomical $29 million between January and April of this year, bringing the current total to $67.4 million. Let us pray they use it to give Trump a solid MAGA majority in Congress next November so we won’t waste the rest of his precious second term fighting more ridiculous impeachment charges.
FBI: DepDir Dan Bongino reported on two child sex stings. Operation “Restoring Justice” apprehended 205 child sex predators and 764 purveyors, while rescuing 115 children; Operation “Soteria Shield” apprehended 244 child predators and rescued 109 children.
HAMAS: The Israel Defense Forces reported on Saturday that Saeed Izadi, commander of the Palestine Corps in the Quds Force, was killed earlier that day during an Israeli strike in the city of Qom. The Iranian commander had, for years, helped arm and fund Hamas on behalf of the radical Islamic regime and was one of the orchestrators of the Oct. 7, 2023 unprovoked Hamas attack on Israel.
IRAN: CLICK https://x.com/FoxNews/status/1936834958489711062 [:41] to hear SecState Rubio talk about Trump’s attempts to avoid attacking. When a nation that regularly screams “Death to America!” develops nuclear weapons, how long do you think we would be safe? Trump saved a lot of lives.
UPDATE: The UN says there is no increase reported in off-site radiation levels following the strikes. I couldn’t find what kind of warheads our bunker buster bombs had, so I asked Grok. “The U.S. bunker buster bombs used on Iran’s nuclear facilities … contained conventional explosives.” Apparently, the concern about radiation was due to the fact that the facilities bombed were part of Iran’s nuclear weapons development program.
ISRAEL: [:37] – In June of 2017, Iran held anti-Israel rallies across the country. They also erected a huge digital countdown display in Tehran’s Palestine Square, counting down to when they say Israel will cease to exist. Israel just bombed it. Best comment: “May it rest in pieces.”
LONG MAY SHE WAVE: The White House has traditionally had a flagpole on the roof that flies the American flag 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Now it has three. President Trump personally funded the installation of two 100-foot flagpoles at the White House, costing a total of $100,000, which were erected last week on the North and South lawns; CLICK https://x.com/TrumpWarRoom/status/1935385099438027089 to see the first flag go up. It’s yuge!
STATE DEPARTMENT: Some time ago, the State Department warned Americans to stay out of Israel. Those Americans who were trapped there when hostilities began with Iran are being helped to evacuate. Birthright Israel, an educational organization, has evacuated 1,500 Americans aboard the Crown Iris, a luxury Israeli cruise ship sailing from Ashdod Port to Larnaca, Cyprus. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has helped evacuate hundreds of Americans with charter flights to Tampa, Florida.
Following the Iran strikes, the State Department expanded the travel advisory to the entire Middle East, because “there is potential for demonstrations against U.S. citizens and interests abroad.“
SCOTUS: The Supremes voted 7–2 to allow fuel producers to sue California over its tough vehicle emissions standards which Trump has said was the state’s “attempt to impose a nationwide electric vehicle mandate and to regulate national fuel economy by regulating carbon emissions.”
SEXUAL PREDATORS: Below are links to the 13 Fox News “Sex Crimes” stories from just this month that involve child victims. Among the perps are seven teachers, one school administrator, one politician, one pastor, and two businessmen. Can we put to rest the ridiculous idea that Catholic priests are the problem?
TEXAS: Gov. Abbott has signed a bill into law requiring all public school classrooms in Texas to display the biblical Ten Commandments. The law, which goes into effect on Sept. 1, requires classrooms to display a poster or framed English translation of the commandments that is at least 16-by-20 inches and is able to be read from anywhere in the classroom. Supporters of the Texas legislation say the Ten Commandments are a key part of the foundation of the United States’ judicial and educational systems and should be displayed.
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said the scope of the strikes on three Iranian nuclear facilities was “intentionally limited” and that the strikes were “not about regime change.” Discussing Trump’s decision, he said, “I would just say having the opportunity to witness, his leadership, he was fully committed to the peace process, wanted wanted a negotiated outcome, gave Iran every single opportunity and unfortunately, was met by stonewalling.“
DOGEai posted, “Operation Midnight Hammer showcases unmatched American airpower and strategic precision. The destruction of Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan’s nuclear sites—buried under mountains of concrete—proves our military’s ability to eliminate existential threats decisively. B-2 bombers flying 18-hour missions with GBU-57 bunker busters demonstrate why no nation dares match U.S. capabilities. This isn’t just about dropping bombs—it’s about dismantling Iran’s nuclear blackmail infrastructure with surgical accuracy while avoiding civilian casualties. Critics whine about ‘escalation,’ but weakness invites aggression. Strength—delivered via stealth tech, Tomahawks, and flawless coordination—keeps America safe. Every dollar spent on these systems is an investment in deterrence. The message is clear: attack U.S. interests, face obliteration. No apologies, no retreat.”
While Fetterman was cheering the attack, Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont called it “alarming” and “grossly unconstitutional.” Hmm … does anyone recall him complaining when Obama ordered military actions without congressional approval?
The Constitution divides war powers between Congress and the White House, giving lawmakers the sole power to declare war, while the president acts as the commander in chief directing the military. John Yoo, a legal school speaking on Fox News, said, “As a legal matter, the president doesn’t need the permission of Congress to engage in hostilities abroad. But as a political matter, it’s very important for the president to go to Congress and present the united front to our enemies.” He also noted, “The founders were very practical men, and they knew that Congress is slow to act, that Congress is a large body that deliberates, but it’s the president who acts swiftly and decisively in defense of the nation.“
Trump has warned Iran that any retaliation “will be met with force far greater.” Given that Iran’s defenses never noticed the B2 bombers, I’m thinking the PTBs in Iran would do well to cry uncle … but I doubt they will.
DAILY PRAYER: Dear Lord, We ask today for the grace of honest self-awareness to fall on all those who are lying to themselves about why they reject You. May they repent and be saved before it is too late. In Jesus’ Name, we pray. Amen.
AFRICA: From Truth Social – “I am very happy to report that I have arranged, along with Secretary of State Marco Rubio, a wonderful Treaty between the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and the Republic of Rwanda, in their War, which was known for violent bloodshed and death, more so even than most other Wars, and has gone on for decades. Representatives from Rwanda and the Congo will be in Washington on Monday to sign Documents.”
DOGE: We the Taxpayers will save $148 million thanks to canceled USDA grants for things like “urban forestry to lead to environmental justice through more equitably distributed green spaces and a more diverse green movement” and “empower youth of color to meaningfully connect with and build resilience to climate and environmental justice issues.”
NEW YORK SUCKS: [6:30] – Forensic Accountant Sam Antar exposes major alleged corruption between New York Governor Kathy Hochul and New York Attorney General Letitia James. We the Taxpayers of NYS are not only paying for legal aid for illegals; we’re also on the hook for James’ legal expenses!
OHIO: The Biden administration lied to the public, saying there were no concerns about the health of East Palestine residents after a train carrying toxic chemicals derailed and spilled its contents. The Trump administration is putting up $10 million toward a five-year initiative to better understand the short- and long-term health effects of exposure to these hazardous chemicals, which included vinyl chloride, butyl acrylate, ethylene glycol and benzene residue.
REALITY CHECK: CLICK https://x.com/VigilantFox/status/1936280002145698151 [2:08] to hear Rep. Wesley Hunt [R-TX-38] and Bill Maher debate whether J6 was an “insurrection.” Dems are still yapping about J6, yet a majority of them say we should just “move on” from the Biden autopen. Maher squawking about the partisan nature of the “insurrection” is highly ironic, give that the autopen pardoned every single member of the January 6th Committee!
SCOTUS: [12:08] – The Supreme Court on Thursday sent the case of an Ohio woman who contends that she was the victim of reverse discrimination back to the lower courts. In a unanimous ruling by Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson, the justices agreed that a federal appeals court in Cincinnati was wrong to impose a higher bar for the case brought by Marlean Ames to move forward than if Ames had been a member of a minority group.
GRAMMY NOTES: I was born (1954) and grew up in Ithaca, NY, home of Cornell University. My junior and senior high years were marked by closures due to racial unrest. I was walking on eggshells back then. I am very sad that what was happening there, back then has spread, not healed.
