Eye Roll

My family is away today (our holiday together will begin tomorrow), so I’m going to do something uber tacky and post politics on Christmas. Cut me some slack, please. It’s just me and the dog here and I need the distraction.

Poor Bernie. He hates the tax cuts. He and all his Dem cronies voted against them. But they’re really popular and will almost certainly turn out to be a very good thing for the economy and disposition of the nation.

What’s a socialist to do? Prepare to eye roll.

During a CNN interview with Jake Tapper, he actually said OUT LOUD, that the tax cuts are “a very good thing. And that’s why we should’ve made the tax cuts for the middle class permanent.”

Yeah. Suuuuuuuuuuuuuuure. That’s why you VOTED AGAINST THEM, RIGHT?! Tweeters responded:

  • Bernie, you don’t get to take credit for the tax bill you claimed would only help rich ppl.
  • April Fools right? THIS man is trying to tell us that he believes in tax cuts? ROFL
  • And yet not 1 Democrat voted for the bill. Hmm.
  • Bernie Sanders wants the tax cuts permanent? Jeeze man why didn’t you speak up?
  • Looking forward to him campaigning on this and working with Ryan/McConnell to make that happen.
  • 2018 will top 2017 for surprises, as Bernie Sanders switches from Socialist to Republican.

Elitist Schmucks

All in favor of tax cuts

The GOP’s tax bill will mean an extra $800 or $1,000 per year for a working family.

Lefties mocked this on Twitter, saying that wouldn’t matter A BIT to ANYONE. But the REALITY these elitist schmucks clearly do not understand is that $800 to $1,000 is YUGE for many families.

  • More than half of Americans have less than $1,000 in their savings and checking accounts combined.
  • Most of these say they couldn’t pay for a $400 emergency without borrowing money or selling some of their possessions.

The true hypocrisy of those tweeting twits may be that they’d shriek tweet outrage the mere suggestion of reducing public benefits by $800 to $1,000 per year.

Writing in The Atlantic, a self-described “middle class” writer described what it was like to be one of those Americans who doesn’t have $400 to spare:

I know what it is like to have to juggle creditors to make it through a week. I know what it is like to have to swallow my pride and constantly dun people to pay me so that I can pay others. I know what it is like to have liens slapped on me and to have my bank account levied by creditors. I know what it is like to be down to my last $5 — literally — while I wait for a paycheck to arrive, and I know what it is like to subsist for days on a diet of eggs. I know what it is like to dread going to the mailbox, because there will always be new bills to pay but seldom a check with which to pay them. I know what it is like to have to tell my daughter that I didn’t know if I would be able to pay for her wedding; it all depended on whether something good happened. And I know what it is like to have to borrow money from my adult daughters because my wife and I ran out of heating oil.

CtH: This is us as well. Life got much easier once we had grown, well employed offspring who generously help out when we suffer a short fall. This year of the Trump Economy has been amazing! We were able to easily afford what we needed, plus splurge on some of the stuff we had done without for years (like a dehumidifier for the moldy basement FINALLY).

The fact is that architects are the worst paid white collar workers in the country. They live from job to job and woe betide the family budget if even a single client stiffs them.  Blessedly, this happened to us only twice; it was devastating and hard to forgive since neither of these selfish couples were depending on a single income to care for a disabled adult and 3 minor children!

Dearest is well established in his profession now, but he was new and wet-behind-the-ears when Saddam invaded Kuwait. That recession put him out of work for a full year. I was disabled with medical bills and our three elementary aged daughters needed all the usual, plus child care help for me whenever Dearest wasn’t home and they were.

A few differences between us and that fellow who wrote in The Atlantic are that I know what it’s like to be down to my last three cents (for a month!); we’re allergic to eggs so ate oatmeal while waiting for the next paycheck; and our daughters knew from a very young age that they were on their own for cars, weddings, and college. We were just really grateful that God gave them all straight teeth!

Hypocrite

2017_12 20 Rob Reiner's tweet

People have been blackballed and fired for less than this … but only when it was right-wingers being rude to or about left-wingers. When the shoe is on the other foot, you get 21K+ “hearts” from folks who were outraged and offended by “Pocahontas.”

These are the same people who had nothing to say about Creepy Joe Biden pawing females of all ages, then practically peed themselves laughing about how Pence doesn’t dine with women unless his wife is present.

Flippin’ hypocrites.

On the plus side, it’s Twitter, so everybody who wanted to got to say exactly what they thought of it. My personal faves:

  • Decades in pervy Tinseltown and you can’t even spell “fellatio.”
  • “Trump’s tax cut is working already, and everything I stand for is a lie.” Fixed it for you.

Best of the day!

  • Delete your account, meathead.

For those of you too young to remember, that’s Rob Reiner playing “Meathead” Mike.

Oh the humanity!

Democrat politicians tried to spin “taxpayers keep more of their own money” as “Republicans steal from the government”:

In other news, two major corporations announced they will be handing out hundreds of thousands in bonuses to their employees and investing hundreds of millions:

Tim Scott is a classy guy

2017_12 20 Tim Scott tax picture

Liberals hate Black Republicans, so it isn’t surprising that a HuffPo contributor tweeted this about the photo above:

What a shocker… there’s ONE black person there and sure enough they have him standing right next to the mic like a manipulated prop. Way to go @SenatorTimScott. #trump #taxscambill — Andy Ostroy (@AndyOstroy) December 20, 2017

But the worthy senator from South Carolina responded with his usual class:

Uh probably because I helped write the bill for the past year, have multiple provisions included, got multiple Senators on board over the last week and have worked on tax reform my entire time in Congress. But if you’d rather just see my skin color, pls feel free. — Tim Scott @SenatorTimScott December 20, 2017

Funny … I don’t remember anyone talking about BLACK PROPS when THIS picture made the news.

Wait, what? You mean the world DIDN’T end?!

Nancy Pelosi called the GOP tax plan bill, “Armageddon.”

But the Tax Foundation says it is pro-growth and will

  • increase revenues by $600 billion,
  • lift the GDP by 1.7%, boost wages by 1.5%, and
  • add 339,000 full-time jobs to the economy.

Hardly the end of the world.

I got this in an email from Heritage Action for America:

The 2016 election provided a once in a generation opportunity for tax reform. And thanks to your efforts, the Republican-controlled Congress has delivered a huge accomplishment for the conservative movement and America as a whole.

Thirteen months ago, the American people spoke with a firm and resounding message — they demanded sweeping tax reform and lower taxes for everyone!

And this time — Congress listened. Republicans in Congress passed the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, which will help middle class families keep more dollars in their pockets, small business will get the chance to grow and thrive, and large business are now able to bring jobs back to America and increase the wages of workers.

This video is really worth watching.

DEMOCRAT SPEECHES: “Republicans just want you to die!”

“Republicans Pass Tax Reform, Everyone DEAD” by Ben Shapiro

Wednesday dawned to the horrifying cacophony of howling dogs mourning their dead masters – men, women and children killed in a mass slaughter by the Senate’s passage of a rather ordinary tax bill from the Republicans. Yes, the Republicans had been warned that their plan would cause a symphony of darkness to play across the land. They’d been warned that the streets would be strewn with bodies. Worse, they’d been warned that those dead people would then move to Chicago and vote Democratic.

But even Republicans, who are also dead, were shocked to find themselves inhabiting the bowels of Hell – in particular, inhabiting a special place therein reserved for women who did not vote for Hillary Clinton and voters who did not stand with Roy Moore.

And all of this thanks to President Trump, who had pitched the tax cut by stating that he merely wanted what was best in life: to crush your enemies, to see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentations of their women.

It is somewhat awkward writing this piece from the afterlife. It’s even more awkward writing this for a news site that exists on the internet – you remember, the internet, that thing that used to exist before Republicans repealed net neutrality, resulting in the annihilation of entire populations and the end of the internet itself.

And it’s supremely awkward to write it from underwater, given that President Trump’s decision to withdraw from the Paris Accords doomed huge cities to the realm of Aquaman.

What makes things even crazier is that everything is on fire despite being underwater, since Trump’s decision to move the American embassy to Jerusalem angered the Arab street so much.

By my count, I’ve died several dozen times since President Trump’s election, according to the warnings issued by media and Democrats. Yet I’ve never been able to rest in peace, because dead Republicans just keep on passing legislation that affects dead Americans and dead Democrats and dead media members keep resisting dead Donald Trump.

It turns out that the afterlife looks exactly like regular life.

Except, of course, that Justin Bieber hasn’t released any new songs in the Great Beyond. So that’s nice.

Tax Reform

2017 Tax cuts toon by Branco

Stilton was in fine form:

Despite the good the tax reform plan might do for their voters, Democrats are unanimously opposed because some cuts go to those who pay the vast majority of taxes (the Evil Rich, who should more properly be hung like piñatas and beaten with sticks until they explode in a shower of bloodstained wealth) and other cuts go to corporations to encourage them to produce more employment. And if there’s one thing Democrats hate, it’s jobs.

On Monday, Nancy Pelosi, who has previously praised unemployment for giving people the free time to become artists, writers, philosophers, or meth addicts, was scheduled to speak before a huge rally of angry anti-tax reform protesters. Hilariously, so few people showed up (about two dozen) that Pelosi simply blew off the protesters – perhaps to spend time with her accountant figuring out how the new tax rates will affect middle-class taxpayers like her who have approximately $200 million in assets thanks to “putting a little aside each month” and clipping coupons.

Democrats are universally against the tax reform simply because Republicans, and particularly Donald Trump, are for it. Because the last thing they want to see for the next three years is America and Americans (of all economic levels) succeeding.

Bits and Pieces

OBAMA: There is clear evidence that the Obama administration colluded with the Russian government to free an Islamic terrorist responsible for the deaths of Americans — all in order to appease Iran to pave the way for the Obama administration’s surrender to the burgeoning Iranian nuclear program and Iran’s escalating regional ambitions.

2017 in Review

9th CIRCUS COURT: 9th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals judge Alex Kozinski has decided to retire instead of defending allegations of sexual misconduct. Trump gets to appoint his replacement!

EPA: No need to work at draining the swamp! Since Trump’s appointee took over at the EPA, 770 anti-Trumpers have quit or retired.

2017_12 Obama v Trump GDP

NBC: The final episode of NBC’s Chris Matthews show will air on July 21. Now, if only MSNBC would cancel Hardball.

HYPOCRITES: Democrats aren’t interested in wiping out sexual abuse. While Roy Moore was running for office, they were all over Franken to step down. Now that Moore has lost, the election, they’re telling him to stay. So much for the moral high ground.
