When mankind was a new thing, when Ugg first sold Mugg a sharp rock to cut his mastodon steak with, people with goods or services to sell or trade, customers had to be aware of their existence. As time progressed and things changed, advertising had to keep up with demand.
With the advent of television, a whole new culture of advertising was born. Peoples’ attention span never was very long and by today’s standards, you have about 5 seconds to get potential buyers’ attention before they change the channel. Ad placement is so crucial that companies pay millions of dollars for a 30 second spot on Super bowl Sunday, the most-watched sporting event of the year.
Companies sometimes pay a fee to use a familiar piece of music or a popular song. One of the most famous is the William Tell Overture. One commercial I remember particularly well involved Jeno’s pizza rolls and Lark cigarettes, which they don’t even make anymore. I remember it because of the cameo by Clayton Moore and Jay Silverheels.

The DNC, the party with nothing to offer but hate, bitterness, and empty platitudes, is due to unveil a new slogan Monday. Further proof, as if it were needed, that no one there has a clue.

The Democrats are working on a re-brand following their near-spectacular collapse from the days when they controlled the entirety of the legislative and executive branches, and are set to officially unveil a new slogan for the 2018 elections: “A Better Deal: Better Skills, Better Jobs, Better Wages.”
But golly, if this is the best they can come up with, they’re likely to get more people to start inexplicably craving pizza than actually voting for their candidates.

The Democrats have a new agenda, and guess what…
Democrat leaders have been working on a new agenda for many months because they lost in 2016 and because of their continuous losses the last six years and after all their hard work. Dana Milbank of the Washington Post – and, I am sure, most reporters – is very proud of the Democrats’ amazing product.
Titled “A Better Deal: Better Skills, Better Jobs, Better Wages,” it is expected to have many Democratic staples – tax increases on the rich, affordable college, infrastructure spending, higher wages, job training, paid family leave and the like – and a few new ones.

The Democrats have adopted a cheesy new slogan which they hope will help them defeat the Republicans at the 2018 midterm elections.
Unfortunately, the Dems’ “new” slogan, “A Better Deal: Better Skills, Better Jobs, Better Wages,” is a thinly-veiled rip-off of the marketing slogan used by the Papa John‘s pizza chain. Papa John’s snappy slogan is “Better Ingredients. Better Pizza.”

ONCE A POLITICIAN HAS SERVED A COUPLE TERMS HIS POSITION IS PRETTY MUCH GUARANTEED IN PERPETUITY. BOTH PARTIES HAVE DEPENDED ON THEIR VOTERS’ LOYALTY FOR DECADES. (THEY WOULDN’T DARE NOT VOTE FOR US, WOULD THEY?)
Mitch McConnell no doubt breathed a sigh of relief when John McCain’s surgery gave him an excuse to postpone a vote on the Better Care Reconciliation Act (BCRA). Now that Senators Rand Paul and Susan Collins have made it abundantly clear that no concession or reasonable argument will persuade them to do the right thing on Obamacare, every remaining GOP Senator has to support BCRA in order to get the bill passed. And it was by no means certain that McConnell had enough votes to accomplish that even with McCain present. Why? The GOP has become the party of poltroons.
GOP leadership hoped to vote on the bill this week, but Republicans need McCain to gain a majority as two GOP lawmakers have already come out against the revised draft. Moderate Sen. Susan Collins of Maine and conservative Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky both oppose the bill and have said they would not vote to even begin debate on the legislation. Six other Senators remain undecided.
The current path of the Senate bill has plenty of obstacles, including the sheer inertia of the ObamaCare status quo and the fact that no one has made the public case for the Republican legislation. But the effort also suffers from a mismatch between the longtime public posture of Republicans (ObamaCare must and will be fully repealed) and their private misgivings (do we really have to do this, even partially?).

President Donald J. Trump is calling on congressional Republicans to drop their failed efforts to repeal and replace Obamacare in one fell swoop and instead pass a clean repeal of the failed health care overhaul from the previous administration now and push through a bipartisan replacement plan later.
Christopher Wray, President Trump’s nominee to replace James Comey as FBI director, testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee at his confirmation hearing on Wednesday. He performed so well that key Democratic members of the committee such as Senator Dianne Feinstein said they were impressed and were inclined to vote for his confirmation. Senator Al Franken, a chronic skeptic of anything coming from the Trump administration, said to the nominee, “I think you had a good hearing today, and I wish you luck.”
“I think in this man, we have somebody who understand the process of justice, who is committed to an appropriate and positive process, is committed to the law, the constitution, and the people,” Feinstein gushed.
The strategy of resistance, obstruction and sabotage everything Trump is clearly not working. But there is zero indication Democrats plan to alter this strategy.
For anyone still wondering why Middle America’s so angry, just take a look at the guest list for the annual bash thrown by Washington Post heiress Lally Weymouth, currently the paper’s senior associate editor, in the Hamptons last week.
For comparison, most Democrats and Democratic leaners (72 percent) think that institutions of higher learning are having a positive effect on the country, which is consistent with poll results from recent years.
Lopez is just another entertainer trying to make himself relevant by mocking the president and bashing the police.
