OBAMACARE: Rebel or Die

OBAMACARE You can't keep your plan

The Obamacrats have made it clear they are not going to do the right thing by us and repeal their disaster of a healthcare law. Obama went so far as to say there was NO WAY the law would be repealed as long as he is in office.

That’s not technically true.

  • PPACA (aka, ACA) could be repealed by Congress with a simple majority vote in the House and Senate, though the latter won’t happen with a Democrat majority under Harry Reid running the Senate.
  • If Republicans win the Senate majority next fall, they could pass a law overturning Obamacare.
  • Obama would certainly veto this law, but a presidential veto can be legally overturned by a two-thirds majority vote in Congress.

Keep in mind that “Obamacare” includes not just the ACA, but also the bazillion heinous regulations subsequently inflicted on us by an unelected band of pro-abortion Obamacrats.

OBAMACARE has 2 parts - PPACA and regulations

There are signs of hope!

  • Eleven Republican physicians are running for U.S. Senate on a “Repeal Obamacare” platform.
  • South Carolina and Georgia are moving to outlaw Obamacare within their own borders. Former New Jersey Superior Court Judge Andrew Napolitano says the states do have the power to do that.
  • A legal challenge has targeted the unconstitutional origins of the PPACA itself. SCOTUS ruled that the ACA’s penalty for non-compliance is not a fine, but a tax. The Constitution says tax laws must originate in the House. The PPACA originated in the Senate.

Another avenue open to individuals is to refuse to participate in the exchanges. If a majority of us do so, maybe the damn thing will collapse under the weight of its own pretensions.

Obamacare’s Evil Intention

The Left promotes a godless culture of death. They’ve proven it everywhere they’ve ruled around the world. And they’re proving it here with Obamacare.

The latest assault is a 14% cut Obamacare is forcing on Medicare’s home health care program.

  • About 3.5 million poor and ill homebound senior citizens depend on home health aides to assist them with medical care and rehabilitation therapy.
  • About 5,000 home health companies – mainly small businesses – provide thousands of health care workers with jobs providing for needs of these senior citizens.

Both will suffer because of “caring” Obama Democrats.

Obamacare it's shovel ready

The Unemployment Rate Bait-and-Switch

The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) has been calculating the Unemployment Rate every month since January 1948. During Bill Clinton’s first year in office, his administration cooked up a new category called Discouraged Workers (jobless American who want work, but have stopped looking because the job market is so bad). Since January 1994, the BLS has been EXCLUDING these jobless workers from the official Unemployment Rate.

BLS Compl Hist Unemployment Rate 1948 to 2013

Common sense would dictate that Discouraged Workers be tracked as a subset of the Unemployed, not excluded like they were somehow not unemployed anymore. But since when do Democrats ever use common sense? Clinton’s statistical chicanery has had a really screwy side-effect that Democrats exploit to their political benefit:

  • When the economy is BAD, more people become discouraged enough to quit looking so the BLS moves them from Unemployed to Discouraged. Net result: The Unemployment Rate goes DOWN.
  • When the economy IMPROVES, more people become encouraged enough to start looking for work again so the BLS moves them from Discouraged to Unemployed. Net result: The Unemployment Rate goes UP.

This allows the Lamestream Media to spin the monthly jobless reports in a way that most benefits Democrats. Since it’s been Obama in the Oval Office during our latest period of historically bad joblessness, the MSM trumpets each “improved” Unemployment Rate report as yet another sign of Teh Won’s wonderfulness.

And if you happen to mention that Obama is the first president to create more than a MILLION jobless workers too depressed to get off the couch, then you’re a dirty RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACIST TEA BAGGER

BLS Compl Hist Discouraged Wkrs 1994 - 2013

If the economy were to improve under Obama (not holding my breath), the Unemployment Rate would rise, at which point the talking heads would carefully explain to us at great length and with lots of experts and charts that it was because Discouraged Workers were now re-entering the job market, so woohoo Obama!

BLS: Unemployment Rate @ http://data.bls.gov/timeseries/LNS14000000.

The official (but faux) “total unemployment” rate used for media and political sound bytes and headlines. This statistic is reported as a percent of the employable population, which includes civilian, non-institutionalized Americans ages 16 and over, so basically not soldiers, jailbirds or children. The total employable population number changes.

BLS: Discouraged Workers @ http://data.bls.gov/timeseries/LNU05026645.

This statistic is reported as an actual number of individuals, not as a percent of employable population, making it very difficult to correlate with the Unemployment Rate.

NOTE: These time series pages are easy to use, but really hard to find at the BLS website. If you want to access them again, bookmark them.

P.S., If it makes you angry that the tax-funded Bureau of Labor Statistics has been corrupted by Democrats, join the club.

People need JOBS – CORRECTED

Obama Dems put 12 MILLION people out of work

Democrats bleat about how they care about PEOPLE and blah blah blah, not like those EEEVIL, hard-hearted, GREEDY Republicans. Let’s just do a REALITY CHECK on that particular claim, shall we?

Republican Majority Control* (Jan 1995 through Dec 2006)

Average percent of population** EMPLOYED = 63.3%

Democrat Majority Control* (Jan 2009 through Present)

Average percent of population EMPLOYED*** = 58.7%

Employment gap between Republican and Democrat economies: 63.3 – 58.7 = 4.6%

November 2013: Civilian noninstitutional population age 16+ years = 246,567,000

4.6% x 246,567,000 = 11.3 million MORE people are jobless because of Obama Democrats

*Majority political control = The political party that has majority control of two or three of the three legislative arms of the federal government (House, Senate, President).

**The population used for this statistic is noninstitutionalized civilians 16 and older.

***It is important to understand that, in the last 4 years, as unemployment dropped from 10% to 7%, people haven’t gone from unemployed to employed, they have left the work force. The “Unemployment Rate” excludes DISCOURAGED WORKERS (those who have stopped looking, because they have lost hope of finding a job). This is a faked up statistic the Clintons engineered to make their labor numbers look better in headlines. It leads to the cocked up fact that a failing economy, like ours, can see the “Unemployment Rate” go down because unemployed workers become too discouraged to keep looking for jobs that don’t exist, while a recovering economy can see this rate go UP, as discouraged workers begin to feel hopeful and get back to looking for work again.

Reality vs. Rhetoric

You really need to listen to this entire O’Reilly broadcast.

Krauthammer Pans New Obamacare Offensive: You Can’t ‘Repeal Reality with Rhetoric’ [8:56]

2013_11 Employment in America - GOP vs DEM

Obama’s approval rating dropped 9 points in one month, hitting the lowest point ever (37%) in CBS polling of Adult Americans. Obamacare approval dropped 12 points in one month, also hitting the lowest point ever (31%) in CBS polling.

Obamacare disapproval is not only high (61%), but VERY high when you factor in that three-quarters of these STRONGLY disapprove.

  • 7% think the Affordable Care Act is working well.
  • 48% think changes are needed to make it work better.
  • 43% think the law should be repealed entirely.

Americans are too stupid

A quick historical look at H.R. 3590 (111th Congress)

Obamacare was all Democrat

October 8, 2009: H.R. 3590 (111th Congress): Service Members Home Ownership Tax Act of 2009

PURPOSE: To amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to modify the first-time homebuyers credit in the case of members of the Armed Forces and certain other Federal employees, and for other purposes. The original text is @ http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/D?c111:1:./temp/~c111X9TifA::

PASSED: 416 YAY vs. 0 NAY.

December 24, 2009: H.R. 3590 (111th Congress): Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA or ACA)

PURPOSE: To hijack a revenue bill started in the House in order to ram through the Senate’s health care bill, which the House refused to initiate as is required by the Constitution for all revenue bills. The only thing the Senate kept was the number “H.R. 3590”; everything after that was completely DIFFERENT.

PASSED: 60 YAY (all Democrats*) vs. 39 NAY (all Republicans)

*Two YAY votes were cast by Independents who caucus with Democrats.

March 21, 2010: H.R. 3590 (111th Congress): Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA or ACA)

PURPOSE: Any bill amended by the Senate must be returned to the House for another vote. This bill was not “amended” so much as it was entirely REWRITTEN in a blatant effort to by-pass the intention of the Founders TO PROTECT THE PEOPLE FROM BEING TAXED WITHOUT SUFFICIENT REPRESENTATION.

PASSED: YAY 219 (all Democrats) vs. NAY 212 (16% Democrats, 84% Republicans)

March 23, 2010: H.R. 3590 (111th Congress): Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA or ACA)

SIGNED by President Barack Obama (Democrat)

RCØTUS is good at only two things

2013_12 03 Ocare site still bust

Even the president’s media cheerleaders are out of excuses. When a CNN reporter logged in to the “new, improved” HealthCare.gov to demonstrate its smoothed-out functionality, it crashed … on television.

The insurance companies that have to deal with the mess the administration is creating are in a panic and even those few Americans who have managed to sign up for coverage through HealthCare.gov may find when they go to their doctor that they are not insured after all.

And that says nothing about all the million of Americans who lost policies and doctors they liked or the people like us who were supposedly the target audience for ObamaCare’s beneficence. We still can’t afford health insurance … but now the IRS is going to fine us for not having it.

The fundamental flaw in all this is Democrat Party philosophy that holds that a big, activist government can solve complex social problems. These clowns can’t even solve a website.

More policy cancellations coming next fall

Next autumn, 50 to 100 MILLION Americans who are employed by small businesses (500 or fewer employees) will have their employer-based health insurance policies canceled — right before the mid-term elections.

The Obama administration has tried to downplay this autumn’s round of policy cancellations by belittling the “small percentage” of Americans who buy insurance privately and blaming “greedy” insurance companies.

That “small percentage” represents 15 MILLION Americans.

Employer-provided health insurance is an anomaly, so let’s put this in terms of cars and car insurance. Most of us buy and insure our own vehicles, right?

When Obama sneers at those who bought independent health insurance, he’s saying they were just too DUMB to do what most of us do with our car insurance.

As for the allegedly “greedy” insurance companies … when Pelosi and other ObamaCare apologists say, “There’s nothing in the ACA that forced insurance companies to cancel policies”, they’re literally telling the truth.

And they’re totally lying out their liar holes.

All of this is Obamacare

I know some people get a vehicle with their jobs. Some people also get housing with their jobs. And just think how screwed they are when they lose those jobs or just decide it’s time for a change. It’s bad enough quitting or getting fired. Some folks stay in jobs they hate because they can’t risk losing their health coverage.

Freeing people from the yoke of employer-based health insurance was at the heart of the Republican plans in 2010 … all half dozen that were proposed and that the Democrats and media shouted over and over did not exist.

According to Democrats, the ONLY solution to any problem is to give the government more power, more money and more control over our lives. Did you vote Democrat? How’s that working out for you?

Lost your insurance policy yet? Had your favorite doctor cut out of the policy you’re now permitted by the Nazis at the Dept of HHS? Can you even afford that policy’s high premiums and higher deductibles? How about the alternative of no insurance, which would mean health care will be out of pocket and you’ll be taxed thousands of dollars per year for not having bought that policy you hate and can’t afford?

This could bite them in the butt

November 21, 2013: The Democrat-majority United States Senate struck down a rule that had been in place for 225 YEARS … because at the moment, it benefits them. Previously, the rule mandated that when the President nominates people to positions requiring Senate approval, those people had to gain a minimum of 60 votes in favor of the nomination before they could take office.

Back in 2005, when Bush and the then-Republican-majority in the Senate tried to can this 60+ rule in favor of a simple 51 vote majority, Democrats (including Barack Obama and Harry Reid) screamed it was the political equivalent of a nuclear assault. But that was then and this is now, so they nuked away and Obama’s appointees will all sail on to their federal judicial benches or presidential cabinet positions.

This video is really worth the time. WATCH Biden, Clinton and Schumer rant about how power-grabby Republicans are and how when they get back into power, they won’t even think about doing anything so heinous is really rich, considering how they JUST DID EXACTLY THAT.

The shoe is on the other foot [4:55]

The Senate has currently 55 Democrat vs. 45 Republican, with a Democrat tie breaker. So yeah … they’ve got the power right now. And they’ve shown how little regard they have for the right-wing voters of this nation. They’ve consistently refused to allow bills the Republican-majority House has passed to come to the Senate floor for a vote. And now they’ve done this.

The problem is that rule changes that benefit one party can easily benefit the other down the road. I remember this happening with Massachusetts where state Democrats changed a rule to get their guy appointed to a vacating seat in Congress, but then later on, the changed rule put a Republican into a vacating seat.

Next November, 35 Senate seats will be on the ballot: 21 are currently held by Democrats; 14 are currently held by Republicans. It looks to me like Democrats have a lot more to lose with this rule change than Republicans do.

Shining a little light on ObamaCare fraud

Under the Constitution, we’re all supposed to be equal under the law.

2013_11 15 Civics Quiz

Within months after Obamacare was passed, Obama was handing out exemptions to people and organizations that had supported his election and helped push the bill through.

  • More than 1,300 organizations received these exemptions. More than half of these organizations were pro-Democrat labor unions.
  • Politicians who had voted for it started requesting exemptions for their districts, for themselves and for their staff members.
  • The entire state of Massachusetts, which was very pro-Obama and pro-ACA, asked for and received an exemption.

Obama had no legal right to grant anyone an exemption.

Period.

He did it anyway.
