Who is and always has been truly pro-life?

The Republican Party, that’s who.  In the 19th c., Democrats sided with slavers. In the 20th c., they opposed civil rights legislation.  It was only after LBJ saw the writing on the wall that he jumped his party on board the Black Train and, as he so colorfully put it, got “niggers votin’ Democrat.”

Since then, Democrats have owned the governments of cities like Chicago and Detroit, which they managed to turn into hell holes for blacks.  And they have promoted abortion and funded Planned Parenthood, which targets minority communities, for what has amounted to a genocidal attack on poor people of color.

Former president Obama used to mark the March for Life with a White House proclamation praising Roe v. Wade.  If a state cut funds to Planned Parenthood, he’d send federal funds, despite the undeniable fact that the founder of Planned Parenthood was a flaming racist.

But the times they are a’changing.  As in the days of our first Republican president, Abraham Lincoln, we again have an abolitionist in the White House!

I read where Whoopi Goldberg said anti-abortion activists should stop using the name “pro-life” because supposedly “everyone is for life.” I don’t agree with her on any of that, including the last part. I know there are people who profit off of and even revel in death.

But what amused me greatly was that Goldberg felt compelled to try to co-opt the name for her side. Clearly, we are making HUGE progress with the public. Otherwise, she’d never do that, right?!

That Was the Week That Was

Putting this post together I was thinking about what a week it’s been and I remembered a TV show from 1963-64 called that That Was The Week That Was.  It was a comedy show seasoned with political satire.  Here’s a sort clip:

In this first incredible week of the Trump presidency he’s made it clear who’s in charge. The unborn have a protector; the terrorists of the world have a sworn enemy; Israel has a friend who won’t betray them; and persecuted Christians have hope of escaping Islamic genocide.

As far as our relationship with Mexico goes, everybody it seems is worried about his proposed 20% tax on Mexican imports. He’s always been an advocate of tariffs, which can mean higher prices on things like avocados and beer.

Keep in mind Trump is a world class negotiator. He’s not going to tip his hand and announce what he plans to do. He knows Mexico has far more to lose than we do. I think they’ll hammer out something palatable to both sides. Nieto must realize some of the criminals and the welfare cases they sent here will be coming home for them to support.

At some point the liberals will realize they won’t get away with the shameful way they report the news. It doesn’t work anymore thanks to social media. They’ll never stop trying, though because they’re a dedicated lot.

Jan 25, 2017: Excerpts from Trump’s border orders

Executive departments and agencies shall employ all lawful means to enforce the immigration laws of the United States .

Executive departments and agencies shall remove all removable aliens, with priority given to removable aliens who have committed criminal offenses or abused any program related to receipt of public benefits.

The Secretary shall immediately take all appropriate steps to immediately plan, design, and construct a physical wall along the southern border.

The Secretary shall issue new policy to terminate “catch and release” and the abuse of parole and asylum provisions.  Unaccompanied alien children shall be properly processed, receive appropriate care and placement, and, when appropriate, be safely repatriated.

The Secretary shall, on a weekly basis, make public all sanctuary cities. Jurisdictions that fail to comply with applicable Federal law shall not receive Federal funds, except as mandated by law.

The Secretary shall, on a weekly basis, make public a comprehensive list of criminal actions committed by aliens.  Victims of crimes committed by removable aliens shall receive support.

Building the Wall

Trump’s order to start building the wall is not by-passing Congress.  Back in 2006, Congress passed a law authorizing the construction of 700 miles of fencing along the southern border, as well as additional lights, cameras and sensors to enhance security.

Then, Democrats got control of Congress a few months later and put an amendment into a 2008 spending bill that took all the teeth out of the 2006 law.

IOW, Democrats buried an unpopular measure they wanted inside a spending bill so they could avoid standing up and taking responsibility for blocking something Americans want done.

But, and this is a big but, the original law was never repealed.  Congress doesn’t have to pass a new law to begin construction.  All they have to do is package the funds necessary to build the original and substantial law into a massive spending bill.

Democrats would have a politically hard time blocking construction, since it would require them to block the spending bill and shut down the government, something they mocked Republicans for doing in the past.

Barack Obama, Joe Biden and Hillary Clinton all voted for the 2006 law.  So did Chuck Schumer and a whole host of other Democrats in the House and Senate, many of whom are still in Congress.

President Trump has said the wall will be from 35 to 50 feet high and made of pre-cast concrete.  He also plans to figure out a way to make Mexico pay for it.

Dollars to Pesos

Mexico’s President Nieto didn’t like Trump’s executive orders about immigration and the border wall, so early on Thursday, he canceled their upcoming meeting.

He tweeted, “We have informed the White House that I will not attend the working meeting planned for next Tuesday with @POTUS. Mexico reiterates its willingness to work with the United States to reach agreements that favor both nations.”

Ummmmmmmmmm … you’re willing to work with the U.S., but you aren’t willing to work with POTUS?

Riiiiiiiiight.

Unfortunately for Mexico, President Nieto’s position did not sit well with the global currency market.

As of about noon ET on Thursday, the peso had dropped more than a whole percentage point against the U.S. dollar, exchanging at a rate of roughly 21.31 pesos to the dollar

I googled today at 8:43 am.  It’s now 21.1 pesos to the dollar.

Chelsea Handler Gets Handled

In a desperate attempt to garner some attention and sense of relevance, the unfunny comedienne Chelsea Handler tried to pick a fight with the First Lady. The results were predictable.

In a video interview with Variety about the Women’s March, Handler mocked Melania Trump’s accent. When asked if she’d have the First Lady on her Netflix series, Handler replied, “Melania? To talk about what? She can barely speak English.”

[CtH: I remember President Obama lecturing us about how we all needed to learn Spanish so we could communicate with immigrants who refuse to learn English.  NOW, it’s apparently okay to mock the accent of an immigrant who not only speaks excellent English and her native Slovenian, but also Serbian, French, Italian, and German.

I googled and found lefty websites questioning whether she actually does speak six languages, but she is absolutely fluent in her native language and the language of her adopted nation.  I’m also inclined to believe she can get by well in French and Italian, since she worked as a model for major fashion houses in Milan and Paris.

I dunno about German or Slovenian, but many Europeans are multi-lingual, so who knows.  My brother once remarked to his Dutch graduate student that he’d done better on Cornell’s English competency entrance exam than most of his American-born students and “It’s your second language.”  The Dutchman responded,  “Actually, it’s my fifth.”]

Unbelievable.  Handler claimed, “Everybody’s voice matters”, then said she would not interview either President or Mrs. Trump and told them both to “f**k off.”  Liberals, this is why we don’t respect any of you or your talk about “ending divisiveness.”  You’re phonies who are too dumb to recognize your own hypocrisy.]

Today’s March for Life

Once again, with her cat-like reflexes, our own CtH has scooped the blogosphere with her post about the Vice President addressing today’s march for life.

[CtH: Yes, well … while Pete was battling the elements delivering newspapers, I was parked in my nice warm office, sipping tea. :)]

I am tasked, therefore, to extrapolate (where the hell did I get THAT word?) on what she initiated. One thing is sure … they won’t leave the tons of trash the Pussy Patrol did last week, and you’ll hear no venomous speech.

One thing that rankles me is that these “enlightened” females whine about it’s their body and their choice. Wrong, wrong, wrong. Once the child has a heartbeat, it’s no longer ‘her body’… it’s the baby’s. They conveniently ignore that.

Trump to ‘call in’ to the March for Life
President Trump will “call-in” remarks to the annual March for Life event in Washington, D.C., on Friday, according to CBS News White House correspondent Mark Knoller.

On Fox News Wednesday night, Laura Wilkerson of https://www.enforcethelaw.org/ debated immigration activist (and illegal immigrant) Jose Antonio Vargas on President Donald Trump’s new executive orders on immigration.

Vargas said that yesterday was a “tough” day for him because of Trump’s executive action. Wilkerson, whose son was killed by an illegal, responded, “I don’t know if you understand what a tough day is in the life of a parent who’s lost a child at the hands of an illegal in this country.”

Jan 23, 2017:  President Trump signed an executive order restoring the Mexico City Policy, which bans the U.S. from funding any group like International Planned Parenthood that performs abortions outside the country.  He also took steps to defund UNFPA, a United Nations agency which promotes abortions worldwide.

Jan 24, 2017:  The House passed a bill to completely and permanently ban taxpayer funding of abortions.  Currently, this has to be done year by year.  President Trump said that, if the bill passes in the Senate, he will sign it into law.

Jan 24, 2017:  The Senate voted 96-4 to confirm Trump’s appointment of Governor Nikki Haley as the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations.  She is strongly pro-life and swore she will use her new post to oppose abortion on an international level.

Jan 25, 2017: Sean Spicer announced that Kellyanne Conway and other White House staff will attend the D.C. March for Life tomorrow.  In previous years, Obama marked the day of the march by issuing a presidential statement praising Roe vs. Wade.

Jan 25, 2017: Vice President Mike Pence says pro-lifers should drop what they are doing and show up to the national mall on Friday.  Dearest plans to do just that.  

Jan 25, 2017: U.S. Senator Ben Sasse reintroduced the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act today in Congress amid strong hopes that the bill will pass this time around. The bill would provide federal legal protection to newborns who survive abortions by requiring appropriate care and admission to a hospital.

Liberals desperately fight demoralization
The Women’s March was more a mass group therapy than the launch of a new “resistance” movement
We have seen such demoralization play itself out in the crying, group cry-ins, and generally hysterical reaction to Trump’s victory.
It’s likely to get worse before it gets better.
Trump is fast out of the gate, and throwing out so much change so fast, it has liberals demoralized.
