Bits & Bytes

DAILY PRAYER: Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of life. Make us instruments, Lord, by which others will see You and who You are. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

AMBASSADORS TO HOLLYWOOD: In a surprise post on Truth Social, Trump announced, “It is my honor to announce Jon Voight, Mel Gibson, and Sylvester Stallone, to be Special Ambassadors to a great but very troubled place, Hollywood, California.

“They will serve as Special Envoys to me for the purpose of bringing Hollywood, which has lost much business over the last four years to Foreign Countries, BACK—BIGGER, BETTER, AND STRONGER THAN EVER BEFORE!

“These three very talented people will be my eyes and ears, and I will get done what they suggest. It will again be, like The United States of America itself, The Golden Age of Hollywood!”

FAUXTUS: Mr. “I believe in the rule of law” spent his final morning in the Oval Office signing preemptive pardons to Dr. Anthony Fauci, retired Gen. Mark Milley, and people who served on and the law enforcement officers who testified before the U.S. House of Representatives committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, breach of the U.S. Capitol. He did not issue pardons to the innocents who have been rotting in prison for years after being invited in to said Capitol by said law enforcement officers.

MIDDLE EAST: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed on Jan. 19 that Hamas had released three female hostages amid a fragile cease-fire deal that went into effect early on Jan. 19.

S&G: An Australian transgender pedophile (25) has been convicted of repeatedly abusing his own 5-year-old daughter sexually while filming the incidents which he then shared with another pervert. The judge cited transphobia as a mitigating factor in the decision to sentence him to just over 4 years in prison. He will be eligible for parole in 2.5 years.

An Austrian kindergarten has expelled two children after their parents expressed concerns about their classrooms having posters depicting nude and trans-identified humans. One is titled, “Bodies naked and bare, vulva, penis, breasts, butts. You decide for yourself, indeed! Bodies are cool!” Others show an obese male in the shower with a young boy, a trans-identified male with an exposed penis and breasts, and two nude children taking a shower with an adult.

TIKTOK: Last year, members of Congress passed the ban on TikTok, owned by Chinese company ByteDance, over concerns that the platform is collecting sensitive data and information on Americans. The law required that ByteDance, which has long had an internal Chinese Communist Party committee with its own secretary, divest from TikTok within 270 days of the law being passed, which was Jan. 19.

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) said that he plans to uphold the divest-or-ban law on TikTok. “It’s not the platform that members of Congress are concerned about. It’s the Chinese Communist Party, and their manipulation of the algorithms.” Those algorithms, he said, have been “flooding the minds of American children with terrible messages, glorifying violence, and anti-Semitism, and even suicide and eating disorders,” describing it as a “very dangerous thing.”

The site went dark on Sunday until Trump asked tech companies to allow it to operate. He plans to sign an executive order giving the company 90 more days to divest or else.

GRAMMY NOTES: This meme has me wondering if my dust allergy is a physical manifestation of my introverted personality. [That was a joke … I think.]

DAILY PRAYER: God, we ask for your blessing on the emotional and spiritual connections in our families. We ask for your help in building the trust and mutual respect that are integral to love and commitment. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

FAUXTUS: [6:47] – Old puddin’ brain recently told MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell, “Red states really screwed up in terms of the way they handled their economy, the way they handle manufacturing and the way they handle supply chains.”

Labor Department data shows that, on average, Republican-led states have recovered 143% of the jobs lost during the pandemic vs. just 118% in Democrat-run states.

Meanwhile, Moody’s Analytics, which uses 13 metrics, including the value of goods and services produced, employment, retail sales and new-home listings, to assess each state’s economic health shows 11 of top 15 are red vs. 8 of the bottom 10 which are blue.

FEDERAL RESERVE: in December 2020, the U.S. Federal Reserve joined the Network of Central Banks and Supervisors for Greening the Financial System (NGFS). On Friday, the Federal Reserve announced its withdrawal from the 143-member coalition saying, “The work of the NGFS has increasingly broadened in scope, covering a wider range of issues that are outside of the Board’s statutory mandate.”

HOMELAND SECURITY: During Kristi Noem’s first confirmation hearing, she addressed border security, FEMA, terrorism, cyber security, and the Secret Service.

J6: Trump surprised Dan Bongino’s listeners by phoning in. CLICK https://rumble.com/v6a57kd-massive-trump-tells-bongino-hes-about-to-blow-the-lid-off-jan-6-cover-ups.html [:51] to hear him pledge to blow the lid off the whole ugly thing.

OHIO: Gov. DeWine (left) has named his Lieutenant Governor, Jon Husted (right), as his choice to fill Vance’s U.S. Senate seat. Husted will occupy Vance’s Senate seat until a special election is held in November 2026 to decide who will serve the rest of Vance’s term, which ends in 2028. The winner of the 2026 special election will have to run again in 2028 for a new six-year term.

S&G: The “non-binary” town councilor of Worcester, Massachusetts announced his/her/their/its intention to take an unsanctioned, month-long, paid “mental health” leave of absence. During a Zoom call last week, Thu Ngyuen, who was wearing a Keffiyeh, said, “For the record, I will not be taking on the responsibility of proving my experience of transphobia and the discrimination and toxicity of council culture.”

WHITE HOUSE: [13:31] – They will have just six hours to move the Bidens out and the Trumps in.

WILDLIFE: In what appears to be yet another leftie boondoggle, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) wants to spend more than a billion dollars of our money hiring hunters to slaughter hundreds of thousands of barred owls. The idea is to protect the northern spotted owls, which apparently occupies the same niche in the environment, from possible extinction. Critics who say the plan is ridiculous have asked DOGE to get it slaughtered.

GRAMMY NOTES: A close friend Mama’s was born with cerebral palsy and has always walked with a limp because one leg was shorter than the other. Her pain has been worse than usual lately and she has needed her walker constantly. Last night, she went to a healing and deliverance service at a Catholic Church near where they live and received personal prayer with a priest who has a special ministry in this area. One thing he prayed for was leg lengthening and they saw it happen. She hasn’t limped or needed her walker since!

CALIFORNICATION: California’s Air Resources Board has officially withdrawn its attempt to force trucks to transition from diesel to zero-emission.

CNN: In 2022, Jake Tapper branded plaintiff Zachary Young guilty of exploiting desperate Afghans during the U.S. military withdrawal in 2021. Early today, a Florida jury found CNN liable for defaming the Navy veteran and ordered CNN to pay $5 million in damages. There will be a second phase of the trial to decide if that number should be even higher.

FAUXTUS: Biden has announced that he has ratified the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA), something the U.S. archivist and U.S. deputy archivist have both said recently he couldn’t do.

Back in the 1970s, when passing the ERA was a hot topic, Congress set June 30, 1982 as the deadline for getting three-fourths of the states to ratify it. Right wingers concerned about its impact on abortion, on women being drafted, and on legally removing the distinctions of mother and father in the nuclear family were able to prevent proponents from achieving their goal.

In 2020, Virginia became the 38th state to “ratify” the amendment, long past the deadline and after multiple states had rescinded their ratifications. Slow Joe said never mind to all that. HE is going to make it the “law of the land.” We shall see.

In other ridiculous lame duck acts, Biden pardoned 2,500 more felons and forgave $4.5 billion in student loans.

GEORGIA: [:51] – The New Georgia Project (NGP) is a non-profit founded by Stacey Abrams to engage in voter registration. In 2018, NGP spent $3.2 million to support Abrams’ failed bid for state governor. The state’s campaign ethics commission just slapped a $300,000 fine on them for violating campaign finance law.

GOD MADE THIS: “In the heart of Antarctica, nature creates an incredible sight: a red waterfall cascading through the perennial ice of the Taylor Glacier. This phenomenon, known as Blood Falls, is even more fascinating than it seems. Its intense color is not only due to oxidized iron but also to tiny iron-rich spheres created by tiny bacteria living in a salt lake hidden beneath a glacier. When this water reaches the surface and encounters oxygen, it takes on such an intense red hue that it seems unreal in the Antarctic landscape. The waterfall continues to flow even at sub-zero temperatures.” – Nature Wilderness Facebook page

FLORIDA: [21:27] – Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis held a press conference to announce his choice of his state’s Attorney General, Ashley Moody, to fill Marco Rugio’s Senate seat. Her bio is astonishing.

INAUGURATION: An arctic cold front will hit on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, so the ceremony has been moved indoors. I’m guessing this might be God’s way of discouraging leftie demonstrations of “tolerance.”

MIRACLE: The Eucharistic tabernacle at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Pacific Palisades, Calif., was found completely untouched after the church burned to the ground in the Los Angeles wildfires. Los Angeles Fire Department Captain Bryan Nassour said the Blessed Sacrament was intact inside the 300-pound tabernacle. The firefighters also found undamaged vials of holy oil. “Talk to any firefighter,” he told Angelus News. “In any religious building what usually survives is the cross and certain specific items that are highly religious, unless they’ve been specifically set on fire.”

WHITE HOUSE PRESS ROOM: Ordinarily, the front row of seats is reserved for the “major” (aka, “legacy”) media outlets, including ABC, CBS, NBC, AP, Reuters, and CNN. Rumors are afloat that Trump aides are thinking of mixing things up to give other, less biased media organizations a shot.

The White House Correspondent’s Association (WHCA) is responsible for the briefing room seating chart. To take that duty away from the WHCA is akin to a declaration of war on the legacy press … which may be exactly what Trump’s media team is looking for.

On a personal note, I dated a guy once who had had the chance to attend a presser in this room. He was stuffed into the back, standing beside the big equipment. His main comments were that the room was a lot smaller than it looks on television and that the noise from the cameras in the back was so loud that, from where he was, it was hard to hear anything.

Clowns

[:50] – The song, “Send in the Clowns,” ends with the line, “They’re already here.” Indeed.

One of the most clownish questions at Tuesday’s confirmation hearing for Pete Hegseth was spewed by Democrat Sen. Jack Reed, who wanted Pete to explain what a “jagoff” is.

Hegseth: “I don’t think I need to.”

Reed: “Why not?”

Hegseth: “Because the men and women watching understand.”

Reed: “Well, perhaps some of my colleagues don’t understand.”

Hegseth: “It would be a JAG officer who puts his or her own priorities in front of the war fighters. Their promotions, their medals in front of having the backs of those that are making the tough calls on the front lines.”

According to entomologists, “jag-off” has its roots in Pittsburgh, where it means “a person who is a jerk, stupid or inept.” The similar sounding term – “jack off” (aka, “jerk off “) – has its roots elsewhere and usually refers to someone who masturbates excessively. At least in Pittsburgh, “jag-off” does not have the obscene connotation that “jack off” and “jerk off” have.

I couldn’t say for sure whether or not the men and women of the U.S. military use the terms interchangeably or not. But I’m guessing perhaps not. I’m also guessing Reed knows this and was trying to make Hegseth uncomfortable.

M.D. Kittle at The Federalist summarized perfectly. “The moment perfectly encapsulated what the Democrat Party is in 2025, a year before America’s 250th birthday: Out of touch, out of power, out of their heads. A bunch of jagoffs.”

DITTO the legacy media. CLICK https://www.youtube.com/shorts/s-NP6H2pVlo to hear Pete Hegseth, a Fox News anchor himself, speak to that point.

DAILY PRAYER: Dear Lord, We ask you to keep Donald Trump and J.D. Vance and their families safe. Please grant us an uneventful inauguration day and a smooth transition with no drama or hijinks marring the confirmations of his nominees. We ask this in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

ATTORNEY GENERAL: [12:49] – Megyn Kelly and Victor Davis Hanson discuss the first confirmation hearing for Trump’s nominee, Pam Bondi.

EDUCATION: The latest Becket Fund Religious Freedom Index found 77% of Americans believe parents should be able to opt their children out of curriculum violating their religious beliefs. This is up 3 points from last year.

EXTERNAL REVENUE SERVICE: President-elect Donald Trump has unveiled plans to create the External Revenue Service (ERS), a new agency modeled after the IRS but aimed at collecting tariffs, duties, and revenues from foreign trade partners.

HEALTH: Following a comprehensive review of scientific studies, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has revoked the use of Red No. 3 in food products and ingested pharmaceuticals. Companies that use the dye in food and ingested drugs have until Jan. 15, 2027, and Jan. 18, 2028, respectively, to reformulate their products. Consumers are advised to check product labels and avoid those containing Red No. 3, which may also be listed as E127 or erythrosine.

MIDDLE EAST: Biden’s own state department said that Trump’s team was “absolutely critical” in getting the Hamas-Israel cease fire agreement “over the line.” One hour later, Joe Biden took credit for the whole thing.

PERVERT: Award-winning Washington Post cartoonist, Darrin Bell, has been arrested for possession of child abuse pornography. Investigators found 134 videos of child pornography linked to an account he owned and controlled. Bell has routinely depicted Trump and other Republicans as sexual predators and perverts.

POPE FRANCIS: I think I’ll give Jorge’s new memoir a miss. Reviewers say it includes condemnation of young Catholics who are devoted to the Latin Mass, as well as approval for transgender individuals to receive baptism and be godparents and for homosexuals to continue in the homosexual lifestyle because God “loves them as they are.”

SHAMEFUL: Michelle Obama skipped Carter’s funeral and is not planning to attend Trump’s inauguration. The word is that she is on an “extended vacation in Hawaii.” In other bitchy-Democrat-female news, Kamala Harris has reportedly denied Usha Vance access to the VP residence to plan her family’s move.

WIND: Wyoming is concerned about the amount of landfill space old wind turbines are taking up. Wyoming House bill 89 proposes they be buried in the holes from which coal has been mined.

GRAMMY NOTES: Bwahahaha!! [1:48] – I dated a guy once (a looong time ago) who lived on a cul de sac. During one blizzardy day when everyone had to stay home from school, the neighbor kids built a big pile of snow in their practically private roadway and invited him to try to take it out with his jeep. He zoomed through it, then went back inside to warm up while they built it again, only bigger. Again, he came out and drove right through it. The third time was not a charm. He ended up having to buy a new radiator for his vehicle.

Pete Hegseth for Secretary of Defense

I will be very relieved to have this warrior leading my warriors.

[11:01] – Pete Hegseth, Trump’s secretary of defense nominee, read his opening statement before Senate lawmakers, unveiling his top priorities if confirmed on Capitol Hill. “[Trump], like me, wants a Pentagon laser-focused on lethality, meritocracy, warfighting, accountability, and readiness. We will remain patriotically apolitical and stridently constitutional.”

[5:48] – I had no interest in actually watching the Democrat senators. Thankfully, Megyn Kelly endured the torture so I wouldn’t have to. CLICK https://x.com/TheOnlyDSC/status/1879242577804976257 [:11] to see a blessedly brief montage of the Democrat hags embarrass women everywhere.

More commentary and clips at the links below.

[7:27] – Senator Mullin’s snarky responses to Democrats’ accusations that Hegseth is a drunken sexual predator were priceless. During Dem rants, Hegseth noted the alcoholism accusations were anonymous and unproven, while the 2017 sex incident had been consensual. He further noted that law enforcement investigators entirely cleared him of wrongdoing.

[7:10] – Two good questions from Senator Tuberville. Two excellent answers by Hegseth.

Senator Joni Ernst (R-IA) has decided to formally support Hegseth’s nomination. “After four years of weakness in the White House, Americans deserve a strong Secretary of Defense.” Democrat John Fetterman (PA) has also indicated he’s likely to vote yes. With the 119th U.S. Senate sitting 47 Dems and 52 GOPs, Trump’s nominees need every vote they can get. FYI: Vance’s seat is currently empty. Until Jan 20, Harris will preside any tie breakers.

VAXXXINE: The Department of Defense rescinded the COVID-19 vaccination requirement in 2023, but Biden’s Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin has refused to reinstate the 3,400 some troops who were pushed out of service for refusing it. Hegseth vowed to not only reinstate them, but also “they will receive an apology, back pay, and rank that they lost because they were forced out due to an experimental vaccine.”

AMERICAN FOOD: [13:41] – This channel is such fun. Favorite line – “This pig 100% did not have a gym membership.”

CALI-FIRES: [10:42] – The Democrat so-called leadership in California is a tragic joke. Erick Erickson at Real Clear Politics (link below) provides the details.

FAUXTUS: CLICK https://x.com/greg_price11/status/1878866878254420057 [:24] to listen to him spew more lies and lunacy out his pie hole. Six more days, people. SIX more days!

BTW, “The Secret Service is a federal law enforcement agency that protects U.S. political leaders, their families, and visiting dignitaries, while also investigating financial crimes like counterfeiting and fraud.”

GOD MADE THIS: The skeleton or crystal flower (Diphylleia grayi) grows in northern Japan and forests in China. When they come in contact with water, the petals become transparent. Once it is dry, the petals return to white.

MIRACLE: I’ve seen snarky remarks on Facebook about how the survival of this statue isn’t a miracle. I’d like to point out that I’ve had two similar cast concrete garden statues fall apart just from being outdoors through multiple winters. While it is true that concrete does not burn, it begins to lose significant strength due to dehydration at temperatures over 572°F. Cracking and spalling of thick concrete structures is common, never mind a little statue like this one. Temperatures in a fully developed house fire like the one that devastated this entire property can exceed 1100°F. According to the homeowners, this statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary is only “a little singed.”

GRAMMY NOTES: Color me impressed! Dearest and I tried (and failed) to complete this puzzle. Mama and the Mascots did it in three days!

CALI-FIRES: Sixteen people are reported missing; at least 24 have been confirmed dead. More than 12,000 structures have been damaged or destroyed. Low humidity and high winds are expected to continue into this week.

DEVILED EGGS: CLICK https://www.youtube.com/shorts/DBwwymAVBX4 to see two Brits try this American picnic staple for the first time. FYI: The word “devil” is just a culinary term that is used to describe a highly seasoned dish, likely from the connection between spiciness and temperatures in Hell. Since the word “devil” does have negative connotations, though, some groups of people prefer to call the dish “stuffed eggs,” “salad eggs,” or “dressed eggs.”

ELECTRIC CAR FIRE EXTINGUISHER: Speaking of the temperatures in Hell … CLICK https://www.youtube.com/shorts/tp0FFY4oBsg to learn why this is a good thing.

Twenty-four hours later, the National Weather Service Los Angeles placed the Los Angeles and Oxnard areas under a red flag warning for high fire risk. Twelve hours after that, Pacific Palisades was on fire. Many celebrities reside in Pacific Palisades, including Ben Affleck, Tom Hanks, Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon, and Adam Sandler. This exclusive neighborhood is known for its luxury homes and proximity to the coast.

INAUGURATION: Remember when Biden called Trump supporters “garbage” and Trump responded by riding to a Green Bay rally in a garbage truck? That very truck will be in the inaugural parade on January 20.

LOS ANGELES: While campaigning in 2021, LA Mayor Karen Bass (D) promised that she would not travel internationally if she was elected. A review of her public daily schedule for the past year shows she has traveled out of the country at city expense at least four other times in recent months.

MIRACLE: California couple Jackie and Peter Halpin sang in praise around a statue of The Virgin Mary that emerged unscathed from the southern California wildfires that claimed their home. “It was remarkable how everything had gotten fried, but the statue of The Virgin Mary and another statue of Saint Joseph were in perfect condition,” Peter Halpin, the family patriarch, said. “Our home is dedicated to the sacred heart of Jesus and always has been.”
