MSNBC: Hebdo’s murder is no different from a slander lawsuit

FOX News: “If we had guts, those cartoons would be reprinted on the front page of The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, The Los Angeles Times tomorrow. They won’t be.”

In other media news … when Fox’s contract came up for renewal, they thought their increasing popularity should translate into more money for the right to carry their shows.  Fox News and Fox Business are consistently in the top 5 viewed networks and Fox pulls in over 1.2  million viewers in a day.  Dish Network Corp. didn’t agree and turned Fox off on December 20th.  Since then, 350,000 Dish customers have called or visited Fox’s website about the problem and at least 90,000 have changed to a new provider that carries Fox.

Canadian, American and British Press Now Instructing French on the Art of Cowardice

Weekly Standard: Don’t be deceived by the reaction to Charlie Hebdo Massacre – our media are cowards.
NY Daily News – Shows photo of dead editor, pixelating Mohammed cartoon but leaving cartoon of hook-nosed Jew. From 2012.  Hat tip: IowaHawk.
Financial Times – Reason.com points out that Financial Times writer blames Charlie Hegbo for being ‘stupid’, causing their own massacre.
World Time – It’s all Islamophobia’s fault. (article about 2011 Hegbo fire)
The Telegraph – We’d rather not talk about it.
CBC – Iowahawk and Jesse Brown tweet about CBC journalistic instructions emphasizing appeasement, claims it’s not fear.
Associated Press – Getting a ‘C’ for effort, the AP today removed photos from it’s image gallery of the “Piss Christ art piece” that they have displayed since 1989, despite protests from Christians that it was extremely offensive to their faith.  Casual observers note that even this pathetic move toward consistency is still a cowardly one, since they still refuse to even display a single Charlie Hegbo image of Mohammed smiling, despite the fact that it is crucial to the reporting and is not offensive by any objective standard imaginable.

Taking down Newsweek’s anti-Christian screed

The following is my ad-libbed excerpt from “Newsweek on the Bible — So Misrepresented It’s a Sin.” The author, Dr. Mohler, is one of the nation’s leading evangelicals and president of The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.

The author opens with the most crude caricature of evangelical Christians, then in a predictable move, claims to have based his research on “works of scores of theologians and scholars, some of which dates back centuries.” Except the sources he cites are all from the far, far left of biblical studies and he doesn’t even quote them accurately.

For example, he claims we cannot really read the Bible, for it does not actually exist and never has. According to him, all we have is “a translation of translations of translations of hand-copied copies of copies of copies of copies, and on and on, hundreds of times.” That just isn’t so — not even close.

While grossly misrepresenting Christian history, he presents tired old arguments that would not trouble any first-year seminarian. Despite his presenting them as blockbuster discoveries, nothing he says is ground-breaking in any sense. His arguments have been around for centuries and Christians have long had scholarly explanations for them.

ISIS is hiring foreign doctors to harvest organs in hospitals in Iraq and Syria not just from their own dead militants, but also from LIVE captives. They then sell them into the global black organ market to help finance their war on everything that is decent and good in this world.

This story broke in the UK, not here. Here, the media is too busy agonizing over dead thugs and 5 minutes of waterboarding that happened more than 10 years ago.

ISIS uses religion to justify sex slavery

ISIS has produced a pamphlet explaining its justification for enslaving non-Muslim women for sex. The video below is from a CNN report about the pamphlet and how it only represents an extremist, minority version of Islam. I find it very intriguing that the Left is so careful to make this distinction about Islam, while consistently perpetuating as normative various extremist, minority versions of Christianity.

Question 2: What makes al-sabi permissible?
What makes al-sabi permissible [i.e., what makes it permissible to take such a woman captive] is [her] unbelief. Unbelieving [women] who were captured and brought into the abode of Islam are permissible to us, after the imam distributes them [among us].

Question 4: Is it permissible to have intercourse with a female captive?
It is permissible to have sexual intercourse with the female captive. Allah the almighty said: ‘[Successful are the believers] who guard their chastity, except from their wives or (the captives and slaves) that their right hands possess, for then they are free from blame [Koran 23:5-6]’…

Question 5: Is it permissible to have intercourse with a female captive immediately after taking possession [of her]?
If she is a virgin, he [her master] can have intercourse with her immediately after taking possession of her. However, is she isn’t, her uterus must be purified [first]…

Question 6: Is it permissible to sell a female captive?
It is permissible to buy, sell, or give as a gift female captives and slaves, for they are merely property, which can be disposed of [as long as that doesn’t cause [the Muslim ummah] any harm or damage.

Question 13: Is it permissible to have intercourse with a female slave who has not reached puberty?
It is permissible to have intercourse with the female slave who hasn’t reached puberty if she is fit for intercourse; however if she is not fit for intercourse, then it is enough to enjoy her without intercourse.

Liberal Hypocrisy and the Left’s War on Women

Remember David Letterman’s sex “joke” about Sarah Palin’s then-14 year old daughter Willow?  Or the demented Trig Palin theories espoused by Dan Savage, et al?  Nobody lost their jobs over those appalling attacks on a politician’s minor children.

But hey … judge for yourself.  This is what Lauten said on her Facebook page:  “Dear Sasha and Malia, I get you’re both in those awful teen years, but you’re a part of the First Family, try showing a little class. At least respect the part you play.”  And this is what prompted her remarks.

Personally, I think she had a point and the whole “political kids are off limits” schtick is crap IN THIS INSTANCE.  These girls were at a public function, not at a school or family function.  If they want to be off limits, they need to stay out of the spotlight.

As for being forced to resign … what the hell?!  Lauten’s boss is a jerk for not sticking up for her and telling the liberal shrieking class that an apology was enough and they should go find some actual NEWS to report on … like the debt for instance.  Or how Russia now has more nukes than we do.  Or how many Americans have been injured and killed in Obama’s War in Afghanistan.

WaPo gives FOUR PINOCCHIOS to WH Immigration Spin

  • At a news briefing on Nov. 19, 2014, White House press secretary Josh Earnest claimed that President George H.W. Bush “expanded the family fairness program to cover more than 1.5 million unauthorized spouses and children. This represented about 40 percent of the undocumented population at the time.”
  • During an interview on ABC News’ “This Week” on Nov. 23, 2014, President Obama claimed, “If you look, every president — Democrat and Republican — over decades has done the same thing. George H.W. Bush — about 40 percent of the undocumented persons, at the time, were provided a similar kind of relief as a consequence of executive action.”

Much of the news media has repeated this “Bush did the same thing!” meme as “fact”, but it turns out that what Bush did fell far short of handing out free passes to 40% of all illegal aliens

2014_11 24 WaPo Lie Checks Obama's claim

The landmark 1986 Immigration Reform and Control Act allowed nearly 3 million illegal immigrants to gain legal permanent residency. However, under typical immigrant patterns, families tend to not all arrive all together.

Thus some family members were able to qualify under the 1986 act while other members faced deportation. President Reagan first eased the rules to allow minor children to stay; in 1990, President Bush extended this to cover older children and spouses.

These new rules did not apply to all illegal aliens, but only to those with an adult member who had qualified for legal permanent residency. And they did not make legal residents of those who qualified; it merely allowed them to keep their families together as they moved through the naturalization process legally.

Over the next four years, only about 150,000 people applied for this special status.

Barack Obama’s slavishly uncritical media cannot turn

  • “illegal spouses and children of legal immigrants” into
  • “anybody Obama wants to turn into a new Democrat voter”

nor can they make

  • 150,000 magically equal
  • 1,500,000.
