On January 3, 2013, a blogger posted an indignant screed about an alleged atrocity in Nigeria. Sorry about the disturbing images.
Problem is … the photo is from a terrible tragedy that occurred on July 3, 2010, in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. On that day, a fuel tanker overturned and exploded, sending a fireball into nearby homes and cinemas packed with people watching the World Cup. At least 230 were killed and another 196 injured. Many of the dead were charred beyond recognition.
Maybe I shouldn’t tell all y’all this, but cow tipping is an urban legend. Trust me. I live in a dairy farming community. You can’t push over a cow. I’m not sure how the idea started, but I’d put money on some beered up manure kickers convincing a bunch of naive yuppies that it’s what they do for fun. You know, cuz after the yuppies go home, it’s so fun to laugh at them for believing in it. Kinda like how we laugh at them for believing cow farts are threatening the planet. ::snork::
You doubt me? Please. You can read up on the science (physical or biological) of cow tipping @ http://modernfarmer.com/2013/09/cow-tipping-myth-or-bullcrap/. Or you can just google “cow tipping” at YouTube, cuz you know, if it was real, there’s be reams of videos and there’s not. Well, actually, there is ONE actual genuine cow tipping video on YouTube:
NOTE: This is a good analysis of the timeline of the attack and the cover-up. CAVEAT: So far as I have been able to discern, the photo he used of “Ambassador Stevens being dragged through the streets” is not Ambassador Stevens. I posted this information in the comments at the video.
Americans killed in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, attack on May 12, 2003: Nine American defense contractors killed.
UNLIKE BENGHAZI: Prior to the attack, the State Department issued numerous warnings of a potential attack. Afterwards, Bush immediately condemned it as a terrorist attack. And the attackers were all killed.
Americans killed in Karachi, Pakistan, attack on March 2, 2006:One American diplomat killed instantly.
UNLIKE BENGHAZI: It was all over with one bang. There was no 8-hour-long siege featuring a U.S. President and his Secretary of State who could not be located. Also, it was not in a recent war zone where an approaching 9/11 anniversary made it a prime target. The embassy had not requested extra security or, having asked for more security, had existing security removed. Nearby service personnel were not told to sit on their thumbs while Americans were under siege. And no one lied or said it was anything other than what it was … a terrorist attack. And the attacker (suicide bomber) was killed instantly.
Americans killed during Benghazi, Libya attack on September 11, 2010: Our Ambassador, a staff member and two soldiers who defied orders to stand down.
WHY BENGHAZI MATTERS:
Prior to the attack, the ambassador begged for additional security due to increased threats and one actual attack on the compound that might have been a practice run for breaching the wall.
The State Department removed rather than added security.
During the attack, nearby armed Americans were repeatedly ordered to stand down.
For weeks afterwards, Obama and his staff blamed the attack on a protest over a YouTube video.
When evidence proved they had known from the start it was a terrorist attack, Obama claimed he’d always said so, which was a blatant and glaring lie.
When asked under oath by a Congressional Committee what she knew and when she knew it, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton screeched, “What difference does it make?!” This is the same Hillary Clinton who got fired from the Watergate investigation for exceeding the law in her efforts to get Nixon impeached for lying to Americans about what he knew and when he knew it.
The White House switched to “It was a long time ago” and “It’s a fake scandal” and “Republicans only care about Benghazi because RAACISM.”
Left-wing apologists created a deceptive list of other embassy attacks that allegedly “proved” Republican hypocrisy.
The attackers have not only never been capture, so far as the public knows, our people aren’t even looking for them.
No Americans were killed in these attacks under Bush (listed alphabetically by country): Greece (Athens) 2007 (Jan 12); India (Calcutta) 2002 (Jan 22); Indonesia (Denpasar) 2002 (Oct 12); Pakistan (Karachi) 2002 (June 14); Pakistan (Karachi) 2003 (Feb 28); Saudi Arabia (Jeddah) 2004 (Dec 6); Syria (Damascus) 2006 (Sept 12); Turkey (Istanbul) 2008 (July 9); Uzbekistan (Tashkent) 2004 (June 30); Yemen (Sana’a) 2008 (Mar 28, Sept 28; 2d attack: One American fatality was reported by news but this was an error). No Americans were killed in these attacks under Obama (listed alphabetically by country): Afghanistan (Herat) 2013 (Sept 13); Egypt (Cairo) 2012 (Sept 11); Pakistan (Peshawar) 2010 (Apr 5); Turkey (Ankara) 2013 (Feb 1); Tunisia (Tunis) 2012 (Sept 14); Yemen (Sana’a) 2012 (Sept 14).
The following is excerpted from my Fox News Update email:
Eric Cantor lost his primary to Dave Brat, a small college economics professor. Cantor is House Majority Leader and 13-year incumbent Representative for Virginia’s 7th congressional district. This is the first time ever that a sitting House majority leader lost a primary.
Myth #1: Cantor was upended in a low-turnout election by a small number of Tea Party “radicals.”
Reality #1: Voter turnout for the primary was 28% HIGHER than it was for the presidential year primary of 2012. As Pistol Pete said, “This was what I call a ‘broken glass election. That’s one where you would crawl on your hands and knees over broken glass to get to the voting booth.”
Reality #2: Turnout was up fairly uniformly across the district, including in Cantor’s affluent home county which he lost.
Myth #3: Democrats crossed over in Virginia’s non-partisan primary to sabotage the stronger Republican candidate to improve their chances in the fall.
Reality #3: There is no evidence for this. For one thing, voter turn-out in the most Democratic neighborhoods lagged far behind turn-out in the most Republican areas. Second, Brat had a 10-point margin of victory, something mischievous Democrats couldn’t achieve.
Myth #4: The race was another battle in the national civil war between the national Tea Party and the national Republican establishment.
Reality #4: Brat did get a big boost from talk radio heavy hitters like Mark Levin, but he had zero backing from any of the national groups. Brat said, “I had wonderful people in the Tea Party grass roots helping me out, and they’re clearly responsible for the win, but I ran on the Republican principles.”
So what did happen?
Brat ran as Cantor’s “term limit.” Folks are deeply fed up with the corrupt status quo in Washington. Also, Cantor has made himself part of the anti-Tea Party effort to shift the Republican party back toward more conservative principles. Cantor also flip-flopped on immigration, which just deepened voter outrage about the business as usual cess pool that is Washington, D.C. politics.
And next fall?
Brat’s Democrat opponent, is a professor at the same college. He had little support from the Democrat machine while they assumed he’d be running against the incumbent. Since Brat’s win, they’re helping him; but the national Tea Party groups are coming in for Brat as well. This should be fun. Plus awkward at college staff meetings.
2010 murder statistics show black-on-black murder total (2,459) was very nearly as high as white-on-white (2,777).
If blacks murdered each other at the same rate whites do, then their total would be one-sixth, not equal to whites.
2009 abortion statistics show a similar pattern. Percent of total abortions = Black 35.4% vs. White 36%.
If blacks aborted each other at the same rate as whites do, then their numbers would be one-sixth not equal to whites.
The fact is that blacks kill each other at SIX TIMES the rate that whites kill each other. And blacks kill whites at twice the rate that whites kill blacks.
