Folks are reporting that the Covered California health exchange websites does not work very well. Or at all. Websites are hard.

2013_12 23 OBAMACARE Websites are hard

One person managed to get into the Help section. Spelling is also hard.

2013_12 23 OBAMACARE Spelling is hard

One person managed to get almost all the way to the end before being told the web page for finishing was not available. But at least they spelled “available” correctly.

2013_12 23 OBAMACARE Web page not available

Recalling how Barack, Michelle and Pajamaboy all urged us to “make it a Christmas treat around the table to talk about a little health care” [gag me], Michelle Malkin rightly noted, “There sure is an awful lot of arm-twisting required to sell a law that was supposed to be the best thing ever.”  Malkin noted that she did her duty to POTUS and FLOTUS. “I did bring up the subject of Obamacare at my house on Thanksgiving, but it was while we were stuffing the turkey, so it seemed metaphorically appropriate.” ROFL

Twitchy aggregated Christmas “we talked about Obamacare” tweets. Here are my faves:

  • We discussed Obamacare at the family Christmas party (90%libs). Everyone hates it. It was awesome. #notkidding
  • Talked about #Obamacare with family on Christmas. It still sucks…
  • I have been to 3 Christmas dinners and everyone agreed. It’s horrific and UNAMERICAN #truth
  • Took @barackobama’s advice and discussed #Obamacare over dinner. We’d like it repealed.
  • We talked about ObamaCare last night. For about 3 minutes. Then we all laughed.
  • We took about 2 seconds to agree Obamacare sucks. My family is awesome.
  • Noone spoke for Obamacare at Christmas party. Even Democrats were talking bad about it.

OBAMACARE updates

December 19, 2013: U.S. District Court Judge Emmet G. Sullivan ruled against Priests for Life in their lawsuit against the HHS abortion mandate. In other words, in his opinion, our First Amendment right to freedom of religion is subject to the government’s approval. Since a different District Court Judge ruled the OTHER way on this matter, it’s virtually a done deal that the issue will go to the United States Supreme Court. You can donate to the Priests for Life legal fund @ https://www.priestsforlife.org/donate/donate-creditcard.aspx

December 19, 2013: The White House announced it will grant a “hardship exemption” for people who have had their prior coverage canceled and believe that Obamacare’s offerings are unaffordable. Note: This isn’t insurance. It’s just an exemption from the FINE for not having insurance. But, oh goodie, Obama is encouraging health insurers to make up bare bones options for these people … which the guy in this video says aren’t affordable either.

So … those people we have heard about? The ones with cancer, MS and other devastating illness who WERE getting the care they wanted but have had their health insurance plans eliminated by Obamacrat Decree? THOSE people are STILL SCREWED … and the individual health insurance market is in chaos.

#PajamaBoy

The folks at Organizing for Action (also known as @BarackObama) won’t rest until everyone spends this holiday season talking about health insurance. Then, when they eventually do rest, they’ll do it in plaid onesies, apparently.

PajamaBoy says talk about insurance

Tweeters celebrated #PajamaBoy with much well-deserved mockery.

  • Waxed and tweezed eyebrows in footie pajamas with hot chocolate. Gee what can I make fun of here?
  • People wouldn’t need to #GetTalking if the policy were good enough to sell itself. Just sayin’.
  • Only a man in a onesie would sit around drinking hot chocolate and talk about ObamaCare.
  • Obama appeals to the core “grown man in a onesie” demographic.
  • Desperation, thy name is obamacare!!
  • I can’t think of anything that I’d discuss with a grown man wearing a onesie.
  • It’s not the pajamas, it’s the arched eyebrows that scream “Thought Leader”
  • Words are simply inadequate to describe the spiral galaxy sized suck of that tweet. Yet I will persevere.
  • If I were sitting with #PajamaBoy, health insurance would be way down on the list of things we needed to talk about.
  • The odds of that douchebag being in my home are nil.
  • But Douche Baggery Is No Longer A Pre-Existing Condition That Insurers Can Use To Deny Coverage.
  • Is Testosterone therapy covered?
  • Will there be a pillow fight too?
  • Is this sissy ALL that OFA can come up with to persuade young people to buy into obamacare?!?
  • At boot camp, they make soldiers wear those glasses. They’re called BCGs. Birth Control Glasses.
  • So what you’re saying is … we’ve found Obamacare’s free contraceptives?
  • Look at how they portray the American male: a hot chocolate drinking doofus in a onesie. Disgraceful.
  • The person is androgynous, ethnically neutral, yet still manages to elicit feelings of great loathing and repugnance.
  • Keep in mind. #PajamaBoy has to be over 26. Otherwise he/she would be on parents’ insurance. Makes it even more sad.
  • Ew … now that really is depressing.

No, what’s really depressing is THIS:

Government propaganda 1943 - 2013

But former Illinois congressman Joe Walsh had a nifty reply:

Photoshoppers got in on the action, natch. This is my fave … and not just cuz Angelaisms did it AND made Twitchy with it!

OBAMACARE: Rebel or Die

OBAMACARE You can't keep your plan

The Obamacrats have made it clear they are not going to do the right thing by us and repeal their disaster of a healthcare law. Obama went so far as to say there was NO WAY the law would be repealed as long as he is in office.

That’s not technically true.

  • PPACA (aka, ACA) could be repealed by Congress with a simple majority vote in the House and Senate, though the latter won’t happen with a Democrat majority under Harry Reid running the Senate.
  • If Republicans win the Senate majority next fall, they could pass a law overturning Obamacare.
  • Obama would certainly veto this law, but a presidential veto can be legally overturned by a two-thirds majority vote in Congress.

Keep in mind that “Obamacare” includes not just the ACA, but also the bazillion heinous regulations subsequently inflicted on us by an unelected band of pro-abortion Obamacrats.

OBAMACARE has 2 parts - PPACA and regulations

There are signs of hope!

  • Eleven Republican physicians are running for U.S. Senate on a “Repeal Obamacare” platform.
  • South Carolina and Georgia are moving to outlaw Obamacare within their own borders. Former New Jersey Superior Court Judge Andrew Napolitano says the states do have the power to do that.
  • A legal challenge has targeted the unconstitutional origins of the PPACA itself. SCOTUS ruled that the ACA’s penalty for non-compliance is not a fine, but a tax. The Constitution says tax laws must originate in the House. The PPACA originated in the Senate.

Another avenue open to individuals is to refuse to participate in the exchanges. If a majority of us do so, maybe the damn thing will collapse under the weight of its own pretensions.

Zerocare: A report from the reception area

OBAMACARE 2013_12 Two doctors post No care under Ocare

The Washington Examiner did a survey and found a majority of doctors and hospitals are refusing Obamacare:

  • San Diego and Sacramento, CA: 65% to 70%
  • Las Vegas, NV: The majority
  • Roanoke, VA: 70%
  • Lynchburg, VA: 100% of doctors and all 3 hospitals

Insurance providers are also saying Hell No.

  • United Healthcare, Aetna, Cigna and Coventry are not participating.
  • Blue Cross Blue Shield is in, but is excluding many doctors and elite hospitals.

Obamacare policy holders will not be welcome at:

  • Los Angeles’ Cedars-Sinai
  • New York’s Memorial Sloan-Kettering
  • NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital
  • Physicians Regional Hospital, Naples, FL

In Georgia, Humana exchange patients will have a big fat choice of ONE hospital …. in the entire state!

If Øcare is so great, then why don’t they want it?

OBAMACARE Exempt

March 2010: Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA)

PPACA Section 1312(d)(3)(D) (enacted as public law 111-148) requires all members of Congress and congressional staff to get Obamacare.

(D) MEMBERS OF CONGRESS IN THE EXCHANGE-

(i) REQUIREMENT – Notwithstanding any other provision of law, after the effective date of this subtitle, the only health plans that the Federal Government may make available to Members of Congress and congressional staff with respect to their service as a Member of Congress or congressional staff shall be health plans that are:

I) created under this act; or

II) offered through an Exchange established under this Act (or an amendment made by this Act).

July-August 2013: President Obama, Members of Congress and Karen Archuleta – Obama’s appointed head the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) – meet in closed door sessions to discuss the troubling (to them) fact that under Obamacare, they would not only lose their gold-plated healthcare coverage, but they’d also lose the hefty percentage of the premiums that taxpayers kick in as “employer contributions.”

Sept 2013: OPM issued a 17-page document unilaterally overturning Section 1312(d)(3)(D) of the Obamacare LAW, so Members of Congress can stay on their cushy plans-with-benefits and not have to endure the odious high costs and rotten coverage that PPACA is forcing on the rest of us.

Do these people need taxpayers helping out with their premiums? Hmmmmm, let me think.

  • Annual salary for President Barack Obama (D) = $400,000
  • Annual salary for Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) = $174,000
  • Annual salary for House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA): $193,400
  • (These amounts are ONLY their personal salaries. They do not include the additional moneys allocated for staff, travel and other perqs.)

Senator Vitter (R-Louisiana) responded to this OPM law breaking with Senate Bill 1497: “No Exemption for Washington from Obamacare Act.” Co-sponsors of the bill include Ted Cruz, Ted Inhofe, Michael Enzi, Ron Johnson, Dean Heller, Lindsey Graham, and Mike Lee.

  • In order for this legislation to be brought to the floor of the Senate, it must be approved by the Senate Majority Leader.
  • The current Senate Majority Leader is Senator Harry Reid (D-Nevada) who routinely blocks any bill presented by Republicans, even if they’ve been passed in the House by a bi-partisan majority and are popular with the people.
  • Senator Reid has refused to allow Vitter’s bill to even be DISCUSSED by the Senate, never mind brought to a vote. As long as the Democrats hold a majority of the seats in the Senate, this situation will not change.
