Youth souring on Obama

2013_12 Harvard poll of millenials

I think there is a “hanging on to the dream” thing going on here that would’ve been easier to see if they had split the results by voting ages in 2008 and 2012. Nobody likes to admit they were wrong, especially when they’ve invested themselves in it. I volunteered for Carter’s campaign, but not a whole lot, cuz I was busy with school and a job. Still, it took me years to admit he had been a crappy president.

About the Harvard poll: Conceived by two Harvard undergraduate students during the winter of 1999, Harvard University’s Institute of Politics Survey of Young Americans’ Attitudes toward Politics and Public Service began in 2000 as a national survey of 18- to 24-year old college undergraduates. Over the last 13 years, this research project has grown in scope and mission, as we now analyze 18- to 29-year olds on a broad set of longitudinal and current events issues.

2013_12 HRC favorability poll

HRC may be suffering from Benghazi, but she’s still FAR more popular than any potential competition for the Democratic presidential nomination on the scene at this time. Her NEAREST competitor is Vice President Biden who is the pick of just 9 percent of Democrats!

Bring out your dead!

2013_11 20 CBS poll

Remember during the “debate” over Obamacare, we were told that without access to health care, those 15 million people would be dying in the streets? It’s been over 3 years since it was signed into law, waivered and delayed in numerous sections, yet I still can’t find those stacks of corpses that we’re supposed to have as a result of them not having health care. ~Tugboat Phil

The Buck Stops Where?

CBS News Poll: Obama’s job approval hit 37%, the lowest ever and down 9 points from just one month ago. His disapproval rating is at 57%, the highest level for this president in CBS News Polls.

Asked at a WSJ forum what he might have done better in implementing ObamaCare, the president blamed Republicans for failing to help him in “fixing glitches and fine-tuning the law.”

ØØP$

The one thing Øbama was always good at was raising money at glitterati fund-raisers. It seems even that star is fading. The DNC just sent out this email about his next such appearance:

“An exciting new update I would love to mention is that we have reduced the price for the general admission luncheon tickets to $500/person. In addition, all current $1000 ticket holders will be upgraded to VIP (this includes premium seating near the stage and Presidential rope line access).”

What this amounts to is a guy in a cheesy suit standing in front of ginormous FIRE SALE!! signs, screaming annoyingly about how you must come down Right This Minute!! because Everything Is Half Off!! for a Limited Time Only!!

WaPo/ABC News poll of Registered Voters shows 8 point shift to Romney:

  • NOW – If election were today – Obama 45% vs. Romney 49%
  • NOV 2012 ELECTION results – Obama 51% vs. Romney 47%

In 2012 exit polls, Obama led with women voters by 11 points. In the WaPo poll, it’s one point.

LØSER!

2013_11 14 Ocare on the way to a train wreck by Terrell

One month ago, the Fox New poll showed Democrats ahead by 8 points in the generic congressional ballot.

Republicans now lead by 3 points.

2013_11 12 FOX poll - BHO approval

2013_11 12 FOX poll - BHO approval specifics

Nov 13: HHS reported that “more than 100,000 people have selected a health care plan through the ObamaCare exchanges.” NOTE the use of the key word: SELECTED. Obama wanted to have 500,000 health care plans PURCHASED by October 31. It’s mid-November and the best they can claim is that 100,000 people have managed to get into the web site, make an account, shop the plans, and choose one to put into their online shopping carts. Unless and until these people go back and again manage to get into the web site, access their accounts, open their shopping carts and click on BUY, the “100,000 people have selected” means exactly nØthing.

Nov 13: House Democrats delivered a fix-it-or-else ultimatum to President Obama, giving him until Friday to produce an affordable solution for the millions of Americans losing their health plans under ObamaCare — or risk some of them jumping ship and backing the Republican solution to allow all Americans to enroll in any current policy, even if it is banned by ObamaCare. Naturally, since the Democrats are in an uproar and his signature legislation is a train wreck, Captain ZerØ left town to enjoy yet another fundraiser with his glitterati bffs. He’ll also give a speech on not-healthcare so he can charge taxpayers for the trip.

Brief news items

Some of these are from Pete’s report, but some are from Facebook and my email. I forgot to mark which were which, so please forgive the repeats.

TYPHOON HAIYAN: The U.S. military’s Pacific Command is helping relief efforts in the wake of Typhoon Haiyan. The U.S. effort is expected to include at least 90 Marines and sailors as well as a cargo planes and helicopters.

A FIRST CLASS THANK YOU: A small group of First Class passengers swapped tickets with a group of vets returning from Afghanistan, so they could enjoy a more comfortable ride on the last leg of their 3-day journey home.

HHS MANDATE: The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit voted 2-1 against the HHS mandate requiring all businesses to pay for birth control or abortion-causing drugs for its employees, regardless of the religious or conscience objections of the owners. The court also ruled the defendants cannot be forced to abide by mandate while the Obama administration appeals to the Supreme Court.

BHO APPROVAL GAP: The latest RCP average shows the largest spread of Obama’s presidency at -11.2 points (approvals minus disapprovals). The largest previous gap was -10.2 points in August 2011.

DEM CRONYISM: Washington Examiner reported the Obama DOE has again shoveled tax dollars into Dem donor businesses. Nine of the 14 grants went to firms that gave more than $100,000 each to Democrats and Left-leaning groups.

BUT WHAT HAVE THEY DONE FOR THE HOMIES? The national unemployment rate for 16-19 year olds is 7.3%. The unemployment rate for blacks in this age group is 36.0% …. 393% higher than the national unemployment rate.

BUT AT LEAST THEY GET FOOD STAMPS, RIGHT? Uh, not so much. Food stamp allotments are going down, not because of Eeeevil Republicans, but because Obama the Caring has taken money from the food stamp program to help fund his wife’s anti-obesity initiative, the “Let’s Move” program.

BØGUS: The White Hut claims they’re going to finally release an official number of ObamaCare sales. However, an administration official told WaPo they’re going to count in people who have placed policies in their online shopping carts, but haven’t actually purchased them.

MØRE GØØFS: The Seattle Times reported the state’s ObamaCare Web site messed up their numbers. Nearly 8,000 Washington state residents will soon find out they will be paying more for ObamaCare than they were told when they purchased it.

CØVER UP: The White House won’t allow their computer boss to testify about why he didn’t do his job in the first place cuz, you know, he’s too busy trying to make the damn website work … six weeks after it was opened for business.

HEALTHCARE.GOV: Scam-artist web pages pretending to be Healthcare.gov are tricking people into divulging sensitive information or buying fake products. Important consumer warning: If an insurance shopping website is usable, it’s not the federal government’s.

WE TOLD THEM BUT THEY WOULDN’T LISTEN: “Had Americans known that Obamacare would actually raise premiums and cause millions of folks to lose their health policies, it never would have become law.” –Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas

The unprecedentedly unspectacular presidency of Barack Hussein Obama

GALLUP Prez Obama vs Bush

Click on graphic to embiggen.

These are public approval polls. The media has such a lot to do with public perception that I wish there was some way to factor in the MSM’s slobbering over Obama vs. their torches-and-pitchforks coverage of Bush.

For example, all that time at the end of Bush’s tenure, when his numbers were in the toilet, the press coverage of the War in Iraq was viciously negative. All we saw in the press was Bush Lied, People Died, Blood for Oil, and Gitmo Gitmo Gitmo (where no one had been waterboarded in more than 5 years and … oh wait, Nancy Pelosi had signed off on that after seeing a demonstration of waterboarding).

Yet WE WERE WINNING THE WAR IN IRAQ. Violence was way down. Deaths of soldiers and civilians were way down. People were having free elections.

When was the last time the MSM’s corrupt0listers even mentioned the fact that soldiers and civilians are still dying in Obama’s War in Afghanistan or that Gitmo is still open? Not to mention drones, kill lists, Benghazi, Fast & Furious, IRS, ObamaCare, rampant violations of our civil liberties and THE DEBT?

It was never about race

2009_01 GALLUP BHO Approvals

It is impossible to say what motivated the 12% who disapproved of Obama before he’d done anything. Perhaps for some, it was due to his race, but it’s more likely it was due to his nasty demeanor toward President Bush, the U.S. military and the War in Iraq, his extreme support for abortion, and the way his party cheated Hillary out of “her” presidency.

Poll: New York doctors hate ObamaCare

2013_10 24 Rose Bowl Ocare

It’s not just patients who hate Obamacare. A poll of 409 New York physicians in the New York State Medical Society found a lot of doctors are afraid to participate, because they don’t know what they’re going to get paid.

  • 44% of those surveyed said they have no intention of participating in the nation’s new health-care plan.
  • 33% said they are not sure whether or not they will become ObamaCare providers.
  • 23% are taking patients who signed up through health exchanges. Of these,
    • 75% said they were forced to because of existing contractual obligations with an insurer or medical provider;
    • 25% (about 23 actual doctors) “affirmatively” chose to sign up for the exchanges.

77% of those surveyed said they have not received an Obamacare fee schedule.

Comments volunteered by doctors surveyed:

  • Obama Care wants to start right away, but who see all these new patients???? Not me.
  • I plan to retire if this disaster is implemented. This is a train wreck.
  • I refuse to participate in the exchange plans! I am completely opposed to this new law.
  • The solution is simple: Just say no.
  • I am seriously considering opting out of all insurance plans including Medicare.
  • OBAMACARE is a disaster. I have already seen denial of medication, denial of referrals.
  • Any doctor who accepts the exchange is just a bad businessman/woman. Pay is terrible.
  • Can’t imagine any doctors would be willing to work for so little money? All doctors should boycott.
  • I get screwed from insurance companies already. I refuse to get screwed any longer.
  • This is a joke. We are flying blind.
