Fourth Day of Advent

DAILY PRAYER: Dear Lord, Grant us each the graces we need to perform the unique tasks You assign us. In Jesus’ Name, we pray. Amen.

EVERYDAY HEROES: “Your body might break at times, but as long as your spirit doesn’t break, you’ll get through it, and get creative and find a way.” [25:12] – Amy Purdy lost both her lower legs when she was 19 years old. She went on to become a champion snowboarder and, in 2014, competed on Dancing with the Stars. Five years later, she suffered a massive blood clot in one leg that made it impossible for her to use a prosthetic.

LIFE: Last year, New York Attorney General Letitia James sued 11 pro-life pregnancy centers for allegedly spreading false and misleading information in violation of state business fraud laws. The Alliance Defending Freedom represented the centers’ right to inform women about abortion pill reversal.

Yesterday, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 2nd Circuit ruled in favor of the pro-life centers, saying the First Amendment clearly protects their right to speak and their clients’ right to hear about this potentially life-saving option.

MIRACLE MINUTE: [7:40] – I was privileged to hear the testimony of an elderly lady in our parish who had kept her Lourdes miracle a secret for 13 years, lest the cancer return. It never did.

SCIENCE: FDA commissioner Dr. Marty Makary says that Pfizer’s experimental mRNA influenza vaccine will not receive approval because it showed “zero benefit” in trials.

TRANSPORTATION: The Transportation Department has removed 3,000 commercial driver license training providers from the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s Training Provider Registry government licensure requirements. An additional 4,500 training providers have been put on notice for possible noncompliance.

EVERYDAY HEROES: When it was their turn to have pictures taken with Snow White, Brody was having an autism meltdown. His mom writes, “Snow White was absolutely amazing with him! She kissed, hugged and cuddled him. He was laying his head crying on her lap. She then took him for a walk away from the crowd. She was amazing. She held his hand, danced with him, took him over to a bench and sat with him. She went above and beyond! She took so much time with him and was a pure angel! She was simply magical, and my family is forever thankful and touched.”

FLOOD MANAGEMENT: Fascinating! [26:12] – Where I live, flooding is a given. I never thought it would be a problem in the high desert. I know this one is long, but I was riveted, so maybe you will be also. 🙂

ICE: On November 9, Akhror Bozorov (31) was arrested while he was driving an 18-wheeler in Kansas. In 2022, Bozorov’s native Uzbekistan accused him of having ties to terrorists and issued a warrant for his arrest. He fled to the U.S. where, in February 2023, he was arrested by Border Patrol attempting to cross the border.

Despite the fact that his home country has labeled him a terrorist, the Biden administration granted him authorization to work and released him. Then Pennsylvania, under Gov. Josh Shapiro, gave him a Commercial Driver’s License. Cuz, yeah, terrorist illegal aliens should totes be operating 18-wheelers on America’s highways.

Even worse, Bozorov’s driver’s license has a REAL ID star on it, meaning he could use it to board a domestic flight or enter a secure federal facility or military base. Cuz, why wouldn’t we want to give terrorist illegal aliens ready access to high value terror targets?

According to the TSA website below, only someone who has met “all federal regulations that establish minimum security standards” can get a REAL ID. Riiiiiiiiight.

LIFE: I have never understood abortion for terminally ill fetuses. If the only life they get is in the womb, then let them have every minute. And let them die peacefully, not torn apart or burned to death. I have personally known two women who received the devastating news that their babies would not live much beyond birth. Both carried to natural delivery and never regretted it.

TRUMP SHOOTER: [7:18] – Miranda Devine reports that the Biden FBI lied to Congress and the American people about what the shooter’s online history revealed. After the July 13, 2024 assassination attempt in Butler, PA, then-FBI Director Chris Wray told Congress that the bureau had found nothing in Crooks’ online history that pointed to a motive or political ideology.

However, Crooks’ accounts on YouTube, Snapchat, Venmo, Zelle, GroupMe, Discord, Google Play, Quizlet, Chess.com and Quora showed that, while he had briefly been pro-Trump, he had switched sides, becoming radicalized and increasingly obsessed with political violence. All of this happened under his real name. There’s simply no way the FBI didn’t know it when they told us the exact opposite.

GRAMMY NOTES: When our #2 enlisted, she had a college degree, so could have gone to OCS immediately. Saying that, if she was ever going to lead soldiers, she should first be a soldier, she chose instead to go to regular boot camp as an E-1 Private. When she met her husband, she was a Specialist and he outranked her. Despite knowing it would mean she would not only outrank, but also outearn him, he encouraged her to follow her dream. When she graduated from OCS, I couldn’t be there to see him give her her first salute, so watching this clip was doubly special for me. CATHOLIC HOSPITALS: On Wednesday, U.S. Bishops officially banned gender transition treatment at Catholic hospitals. Bishops will have autonomy in putting the new directives into law for their dioceses. More than one in seven patients in the U.S. are treated each day at Catholic hospitals. In some areas, Catholic hospitals are the only medical centers available.

CROCKETT: One of the Left’s Trump-hating darlings has just been outed for the elitist fraud she is. Federal Election Commission filings show that Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX-39) has spent nearly $75,000 on luxury hotels, transportation and security this year. While “representing” her Dallas constituents, she found it necessary to stay at luxury hotels and use limousine services to visit Martha’s Vineyard, Chicago, New York City, Las Vegas, San Francisco, and Los Angeles.

ICE: On November 4 in Los Angeles, CA, ICE officers arrested Victoria Sorocean, an illegal alien wanted in her home country for premeditated murder committed with exceptional cruelty. Sorocean and an accomplice beat the victim with a stick and electrical cable before throwing the victim out a ninth-floor window. In 2013, she fled to the U.S. to avoid prison.

ICE had her in custody during the Biden administration, yet despite her murder conviction, they released her to roam free in American neighborhoods, as they did so many other criminals. Not this time. She will remain in ICE custody until she can be returned to Moldova.

SIGH: ::sigh:: my hometown. We call it “The Berkley of the East” and “The Soviet Socialist Republic of Ithaca.”

SMH: Then-Rep. Duffy resigned from his position after his ninth child was born with health complications requiring open-heart surgery. By resigning rather than taking leave, he sacrificed his salary, opened up the position for someone else to take over and actually do the work, and had to find a new line of work that allowed him to spend more time with his family.

Then-TransSec Buttigieg took maternity leave after delivery of the surrogate twins he and his husband had purchased. During his time at home, he continued to draw a salary while nobody was doing his job. At the end of his leave, he returned to his job at full pay.

SOCIALISM: I saw this on Facebook – “The Left’s favorite catchphrase is ‘Tax the rich’ not ‘help the poor’ because their ideology is based on envy and resentment.”

Both the BBC Director General Tim Davie & News CEO Deborah Turness have been forced to resign. Trump’s lawyers have also sent a letter to the BBC, demanding the network retract “false, defamatory, disparaging, and inflammatory statements” made about Trump that were “fabricated and aired by the BBC”

“Failure to comply will leave President Trump with no choice but to pursue any and all legal rights and remedies available to recover damages for the overwhelming financial and reputational harm that the BBC has caused him to suffer, with all rights and remedies being expressly reserved by President Trump.”

CATHOLIC: Please pray a Hail Mary for an increase in vocations to the priesthood.

CORNELL: Cornell University has agreed to pay the federal government a $30 million fine over three years and the DOJ has agreed to stop investigating all the ways the university has violated federal civil rights laws. Federal grants (about $250 million) to the institution will thus be unfrozen.

PROGRESSIVES: These are the people who keep saying MAGA is a cult.

S&G: One of the largest branches of the German Protestant church has defended a pastor after she blessed a relationship between four men and declared the “polycule” was married “in the eyes of God.”

The event occurred at a “pop-up wedding festival” at the St Paul the Apostle church in Berlin which was offering free blessings for those who wished to avoid “lengthy formalities.”

The pastor said, “You could see right away that there was so much love between them. Why should God have anything against there being four of them rather than two?”

Maybe for the same reason He should have everything against treating marriage like it’s a sideshow carnival attraction.

MINNESOTA: In June, during a Minnesota House of Representatives floor debate over Medicaid eligibility for illegal migrants. Democratic State Rep. Kaohly Vang Her said, “I am illegal in this country. My family was just smarter in how we illegally came here.”

Later that day, the state representative told a local news outlet that she and her parents were actually American citizens and that she had made the stunning claim in an attempt to inspire empathy from her GOP colleagues. In other words, she lied.

St. Paul’s voters just made her their next mayor.

Under his leadership, Japanese troops committed numerous atrocities against civilians and prisoners of war. After Japan’s surrender, Imamura was tried by an Allied military tribunal and sentenced to ten years in prison for war crimes. Unlike many of his peers who denied responsibility, Imamura expressed remorse, believing his sentence was too lenient given the suffering inflicted under his command.

In a striking act of personal accountability, Imamura built a replica prison cell in his garden after his release and chose to live there voluntarily until his death in 1968. EVERYDAY HEROES: When Navy sailor Douglas Hegdahl was captured during the Vietnam War and thrown into the infamous Hanoi Hilton prison, he pretended to be clumsy, slow-witted, and illiterate. His captors gave him freedom to wander around the camp, because they thought he was too simple to be a threat. He memorized the names, capture dates, and conditions of 256 of his fellow prisoners, setting the information to the tune of “Old MacDonald Had a Farm” which he sang silently in his head, day after day, so he wouldn’t forget a thing.

All of the POWs had agreed that no one would accept early release. However, when the North Vietnamese offered to send Hegdahl home as a propaganda stunt, his fellow prisoners told him to go. His “Old MacDonald” information was some of the most valuable intelligence of the war. He later attended the Paris Peace Talks and confronted the North Vietnamese with his firsthand information about the mistreatment of prisoners.
