That was my favorite part of the article, because I used to watch Hardball all the time during the end of Clinton’s presidency and I remember really liking Chris Matthews. So, I’ve had to question my sanity of late and wonder if I was really that stupid back then. This just confirmed for me that it’s him that changed and not me.

I was a huge Olbermann and Matthews fan during the GWB years, until the tingles ran up CM’s leg and Olbie wanted to beat up Hillary….it got too creepy for me, haven’t watched MSNBC since.

If anyone cares, I say yes. I believe in a hierarchy of importance – physical at the bottom, then emotional, then mental, then spiritual. The higher up on the scale a sin occurs, the more serious it is.

Weiner’s behavior was despicable, not to mention juvenile; but even if a man has no morals and no conscience, it was also breathtakingly stupid. Did he really think he would get away with it, that it would never become public, or if it did, no one would care? How could any ambitious politician, even if completely bereft of moral standards, do anything so stupid and destructive? That’s what I find mind-boggling. I guess evil no longer surprises me, as much as it disgusts me, but the rank stupidity of some seemingly-intelligent people still astonishes me.

My local paper is a puppy of the NYT (same owners/parents?), they called for The Weiner to step down. As did Tim Kaine (aka DNC chair), who’s running for U.S. VA Senate seat right now.

ST is an EXTREMELY nice lady, who in no way (IMO) deserved anything the HB crowd dished out, at KD’s instigation. But she does repeat the liberal mantra that others (Republicans) have had worse scandals, and where was the outrage on THAT? She does NOT excuse The Adventures of Weiner’s Little Tony, but I think she tries to minimize the serious of what he did by putting it in “context.” So there’s fundamental disagreement, but done nicely, without flame-throwing. I find that refreshing, in and of itself.

I am a tad agog that any Dem would go the “Republicans have worse scandals” route at this point. No doubt one find Republican scum worse than Weiner, but seriously … oughtn’t those of the party of Clinton and Edwards avoid the “yours are worse than mine” argument like the plague?

This morning, she is bringing up Vitter as an example of Republican immorality. I’m not trying to condone any of it, although my last year of life hasn’t left me with much inclination to follow the somewhat-obscure peckerdillos of an obscure LA lawmaker. You would have had to live in the underground bunker under Dick Cheney’s underground bunker to have missed Weiner’s exposure. And I don’t care about the politics of it. I wouldn’t care if he belonged to the VENUSIAN party! He has been hoist on his own petard, so to speak, in a scandal the likes of which has never before been seen, and (if the rest of those DC yoyos are smart–HA!) never will be seen again. Weiner forever stands in a class all his own, but what a distinction to claim for oneself!
And really, has there ever been a wife you’ve heard of who has been more-publicly humiliated than his? OH. MY. WORD. The online chat was juvenile, puerile, and extremely salacious…and all his stupid dirty talk, with pictures, are now featured on the world-wide web for all and sundry to see. He’s lucky she doesn’t take a bat upside his head–EITHER of them!!!!!!!!!!

In social psychology, it’s pretty well accepted that women tend to value psychological intimacy, whereas men (usually) place more importance on physical intimacy. This magnifies the effects of cheating, because the cheater will typically engage in the form of cheating they consider to be less severe, which is generally what their partner considers to be more egregious. Regardless, it’s also pretty well accepted that, yeah, sexting is cheating. As a general rule of thumb…if you have to keep it secret, you shouldn’t be doing it. Nothing destroys a relationship faster than dishonesty.

This is really sad. My neighbor hasn’t been able to find a job for almost 2 years now and is having to put her house on the market, because there is just no work. It’s ridiculous that so many people find themselves in these very same shoes.
