Heck, yes. My kids are living in tents in the ME. One sent a pic of her “quarters” … she has about as much area as a jail cell would give her, except the walls are fabric so she can’t hang anything on them.

I actually just had a “discussion” with a lib over this. He, of course, whined that educators are underpaid and that lawyers go to school for the same amount of time as teacher’s and can make up to 10x the money. Mind you, I have to have this conversation knowing full well that my kids’ teachers could be reading all of these posts…which, of course, he knows. Needless to say, I asked him who forces someone to become a teacher? Isn’t choosing a major in college still a choice in this country? I also politely mentioned the fact that most lawyers do not receive the same vacation, health insurance or life long pensions that teachers receive…GMAB.

I have no patience with teachers who whine about how little they are paid, especially when they blather about the high pay that others with similar educational levels supposedly get. Did these people fail to find out what a teacher is paid before they went into teaching? If so, they are too stupid to be entrusted with the job of teaching children. If not, then they went into the profession knowing how much they would be compensated, and they have no right to complain about it now. I can’t imagine going into ANY profession — especially one that requires 4+ years of college, which is not exactly a minor expense — without first finding out what I could reasonably expect to earn at it. Only an idiot would do that.

That is so sad – even with the corrected figure of 2 to 3%. I see people buying stacks of those lottery tickets in the 7-11. We have had a lottery in Virginia for about 20 years now, and I doubt that I have spent $20 total in all that time. Of course, it makes it hard to win that way!

That “earning less than” figure is absurd. According to Thomas Sowell, the Left deliberately leaves out all the entitlements these people get to make them look really poor, when they actually have a much, much higher total income.
It’s like if I said I only earn $12,000 a year, but that income came with a job that included free room, board, expense account and an insured company car.
