The problem with some of the tea party factions is that their “leaders” want to lead us while we are tired of being led. We will support romney because the alternative is just too damn dangerous to allow. You are right Chrissie. We will eventually change the GOP. Rome was not built in a day. I’ve thought for a long time that if for just one generation, everyone who reproduced did so with someone of a different race, it would be a very good thing — the races would get so hopelessly mixed up that pretty soon skin color would cease to matter. I know it’s not gonna happen, but I can dream. I’m just so sick of all this racial polarization and how it’s gotten so much worse in the last four years, instead of getting better as some naive people predicted it would when our wonderful biracial president was elected.

What an absolute joke. When my husband and I had our first baby, 13 years ago, he was making $250.00 (living in Long Island) a week, and somehow we figured out a way for me to stay home with our child. We bought a dump, fixed it up ourselves, rented out part of it, had an old car, didn’t vacation and cut coupons ….We simply did without all of the “necessities” that my generation cannot live without. I think it is quite clear that with a little belt tightening the Obama’s could have struggled through..

Kelly, my husband and I did the same thing when we started out. We rented a few rooms in a drafty old house with no central heating and never spent money on anything that we could live without. It’s challenging, but far from impossible. It just takes a little ingenuity and resourcefulness. And it’s amazing how much stuff you can get along without!

I don’t know how in the world the author of that article considers that a tax shelter. The Obamas had already paid the tax on that money. It is no different from spending your money at Best Buy to buy your kid a computer or something for their birthday. You just give the child the cash instead. You already paid the tax on the money you would spend at Best Buy, and you already paid the tax on the cash that you gave them instead. The thing that galls me is that there is even a limit in the first place. Once I have earned it and paid the taxes on it, why should I have any limits on what I choose to do with it? I know the limit is tied in to the estate tax, but that is a BS tax, too, in my book.

Ouch. The music is awful. … The dog however WOW. When I was a kid, a neighbor dog named Princess used to come to our playground and join us kids on our 50s era metal slide. Somehow she figured out how to climb that steep, open treaded ladder so she could enjoy swooshing down the slide. She was also very good about taking her turn nicely.

Ann Romney is going to be Mitt’s best asset in this campaign. Most people are sick to death of bossy know-it-all Michelle Obama relentlessly hectoring us about how we should raise our kids and what we should and shouldn’t eat, etc. Ann is like a breath of fresh air: feminine, classy, gracious, and she actually loves her country. The contrast could hardly be more glaring.
