SO HOW WAS YOUR WEEKEND?

We’ve been pretty fortunate around here this winter, but that all ended Saturday/Sunday. Our area got somewhere between 12-15″. The door latch on my Ford POS was frozen,so I had to take DW’s car to work this AM. She has an SUV with a 4 cylinder motor that is as useful in snow as teats on a boar hog. Got stuck twice going to work, once after I started my route,so I gave up and went home and got stuck in our as-yet-unplowed driveway. Finally got my car fixed and got the job finished this afternoon. Hopefully we won’t get blasted like that again this season.

No, this is NOT me.

And then Chicago sent us Obama

1934 Communist plan toon

On Jan. 22, 2015, The Jerusalem Post reported that Iran has deployed a new intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) “whose range far exceeds the distance between Iran and Israel, and between Iran and Europe.”

Iran and others claim the missile is not a military ICBM for delivering nuclear warheads but a peaceful Space Launch Vehicle (SLV) for orbiting satellites.

This is a distinction without a difference.

Rodeo Clown of the United States

2015_02 01 Obama and beer

“This is really what the White House is all about. It’s the “People’s House.” It’s a place that is steeped in history, but it’s also a place where everyone should feel welcome. And that’s why my husband and I have made it our mission to open up the house to as many people as we can.” – Michelle Obama

Riiiiiiiiiight. That’s exactly why, when Congress wouldn’t give him what he wanted in March 2014, Obama closed the White House to visitors. And then in October 2014, when Congress again wouldn’t give him what he wanted, he left Michelle’s famous garden to rot.

2015_02 01 BHO Super Bowl - it's always about Barack

Maybe they sent out the BO and Bo photo to try and soothe President Narcissist’s irritable thin skin following his pre-game beer interview. That naughty naughty reporter went off the Fluff His Majesty’s Pillow script and asked him some actual, you know, journalistic-type questions.

“You gave your State of the Union a couple weeks ago, people noticed you had a pep in your step. You were confident, your critics say maybe a little cocky. I guess the question is, you know is, your party lost in November… but you went in there… with such swagger.  Should you have been more conciliatory? Is it, to borrow a football metaphor, kind of like you’re the quarterback, you’re doing the end zone dance, but the other team got the touchdown?”

After he snarked at her about that How Dare You question, she asked another, even harder one!

“The economy is doing better. But you laid out a bunch of proposals that you know cannot get through this Congress that is run by Republicans now. Isn’t that kind of counterproductive?”

Obama said that if Republicans have good ideas, they should present them to him.

Yeah, that’ll work. Cuz he’s like ALWAYS been so open and transparent and welcoming to people who want to do something besides spit shine his shoes while he’s wearing them.

2015_02 01 BHO not happy

At the end of the interview, Mr. Classy said the reporter should finish the whole glass of beer before their full interview scheduled for later, because “It will go smoother if she does.”

Todd Starnes tweeted, “At least Obama didn’t ask Miss Guthrie to make him a sandwich.” Tee hee.

UPDATE: American Sniper

Schick's opinion of Michael Moore - prosthetic IQ

Texas Governor Greg Abbott has declared February 2, 2015 “Chris Kyle Day” in Texas.

He got a lot of thumbs up for honoring a true American hero and a lot of thumbs down for honoring “a murderer & a terrorist & a coward.”

My fave tweet:

It’s a brilliant and honest story that demonstrates the truth of the following:

How do you get conservatives angry?  You lie to them.
How do you get liberals angry?  You tell them the truth.

Last Friday, First Lady Michelle Obama PRAISED American Sniper:

“[It] reflects those wrenching stories that I’ve heard — the complex journeys that our men and women in uniform endure, the complicated moral decisions they are tasked with every day, the stresses of balancing love of family with a love of country, and the challenges of transitioning back home to their next mission in life. … The vast majority of Americans will have never seen these stories or grasp these issues without portrayals like this.”

American Sniper opened at Baghdad’s Mansour Mall theater earlier this month.

It was pulled after a week, but before that, one Iraqi man named Gaith Mohammed said that it played to full and enthusiastic crowds. “Some people watching were just concentrating, but others were screaming ‘Fuck, shoot him! He has an IED, don’t wait for permission!!’”

THIRD week-end box office record!

American Sniper set a new Super Bowl week-end record and has the highest box office tally for a war movie. It has been nominated for six Oscars, including best picture and best actor.

80% of your immune system is in your gut

Kefir cheese is quite bland.  Like tofu and quinoa, it absorbs and shows off the flavors you add, making it very versatile and FUN to experiment with.  This batch got mixed with chopped onions and chopped garlic (both fermented), plus some turmeric and ground red pepper.  It turned a pretty yellow and was SO delicious!
