Trump: If abortion is banned there has to be “some form of punishment” for women
Trump did an interview with Chris Matthews today where the topic of banning abortion came up. Trump was pressed on whether a woman who has an illegal abortion should be punished:
At a taping of an MSNBC town hall to be aired later, host Chris Matthews pressed Trump on his anti-abortion position, repeatedly asking him, “Should abortion be punished? This is not something you can dodge.”
“Look, people in certain parts of the Republican Party, conservative Republicans, would say, ‘Yes, it should,’” Trump answered.
“How about you?” Matthews asked.
“I would say it’s a very serious problem and it’s a problem we have to decide on. Are you going to send them to jail?” Trump said.
“I’m asking you,” Matthews said.
“I am pro-life,” Trump said. Asked how a ban would actually work, Trump said, “Well, you go back to a position like they had where they would perhaps go to illegal places but we have to ban it,” Trump said.
Matthews then pressed Trump on whether he believes there should be punishment for abortion if it were illegal.
“There has to be some form of punishment,” Trump said. “For the woman?” Matthews asked. “Yeah,” Trump said, nodding.
Trump said the punishment would “have to be determined.”
Within hours he was forced to walk back his comments and change his stance to doctors who provide abortions should be punished.

Two things: (1) this abortion question is the easiest layup out there: “It’s a states rights issue, and I’m not running for Governor. They see it as a choice between NWO and Nationalism, and that’s pretty much all that matters.

Here’s where I go off the rails a little bit, so I apologize in advance for any unintended offense.
I guess I’m a contrarian when it comes to Phelps, and here’s why:
1) Does God actually hate fags? If you believe the Old Testament, yes He does. And there’s enough circumstantial evidence in the New Testament to confirm this conclusion. Now, if you believe the Bible’s just a book of suggestions, then Phelps could be wrong. But I refuse to automatically endorse the Gaystapo and Marxist position that our nuclear family is a tired anachronism, and to jettison 10,000 years of prevailing consensus.
2) But why stage very confrontational protests regarding such a controversial position? What, only Communists get to disrupt the playing field? Furthermore, Phelps’ protests never directly led to riots or property damage or death (unlike theirs). I wish we had conservatives as devoted to our causes as Phelps was devoted to his.
3) But why show up at military funerals? Because that’s where the cameras are. It wouldn’t make sense to march around outside their church — no media coverage. But why blame military deaths on gay marriage? Again, the Bible makes it pretty clear in numerous places that God “punishes” Israel for abandoning His righteousness.
I remember John Hagee, Pat Robertson and several other high-profile ministers concluding Hurricane Katrina was God’s punishment on the wicked and sinful New Orleans. Are all these guys cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs? Maybe … again, it depends how seriously you believe the entire Bible is the word of God. Commies will call them nuts, but that’s what atheists are supposed to do.
4) Phelps was an out-and-proud Democrat, and I loved reminding them of that.
Anybody who rocks the boat, and especially anyone with a position contrary to the NWO psycopathy of King Putt, is going to be vilified. It behooves us to see past the Marxist orthodoxy and propaganda, and ask ourselves if this guy has anything to apologize for as he stands in front of the Pearly Gates.
Maybe he does, maybe he doesn’t, it’s above my pay grade. I do know that disrespecting a military hero by disrupting their funeral seems a minor sin in comparison to 3000 abortions in America each day, or the growing persecution of Christians in our country and around the world.
Anybody calling attention to America’s willful disobience to God’s law is at least doing something, no matter how clumsy and hurtful their efforts.

IF, IF abortion were to be illegal why is the woman a victim? She is paying for the murder (which I suppose is why it would be illegal), you know, like someone hiring a hit man? It was a no-brainer question and the answer across the board is you break the law, of course there is punishment/ramifications/consequences. Absolutely nothing controversial about Trump’s original answer.
As to all the stuff you say about Trump supporters, well, thanks for the nice words; I am sure all the “closet” or quiet Trump supporters among your family and friends appreciate them as much as I do.

Back when abortion was illegal in the United States, women were seldom if ever prosecuted for seeking abortions; only abortionists were prosecuted. Women were treated as victims primarily because a lot of the time they didn’t want to abort but were bullied into it by parents or boyfriends.
As a practical matter, there is no chance whatsoever that any law restricting abortion could pass if it meant that women who sought abortions would be treated as criminals. Whether it makes sense or not, that’s the way it is. Pro-lifers are more interested in saving the lives of babies than they are in punishing women.
