I remember that Merrick Garland memo. He issued it at the time when I was going to every meeting of our local school board and pleading with them to get rid of the idiotic mask mandate they had imposed on every student in the district. It had been well established by that time that covid posed zero risk to healthy children and that masking them was harmful, but the board members could not have cared less. No amount of facts or logic would sway them. Their complete indifference to the suffering of children infuriated me. Anyway, I remember telling my husband that I should probably keep my duffel bag packed and next to the bed so that when the authorities broke into our house in the middle of the night to arrest me for terrorism, I’d at least be sort of prepared….
