Dumbocrats Strike Again

Seattle’s tax on guns and ammo has impacted the city in ways the Dumbocrats never expected.

Republicans could’ve told them these things would happen, but they think we’re stupid and evil, so they never listen to us.

Increased taxes meant that shoppers simply went outside the city to get what they wanted.

  • Jobs at larger sporting goods stores have been lost.
  • Small gun dealers have been forced out of business.

Oh, and the real kicker?

The city has experienced a sharp increase in gun violence.

The Left-Wing Moral Sewer

Karen Handel is a Republican running for Georgia’s 6th Congressional District. On Thursday, she and her neighbors received threatening notes containing a white powdery substance. Police shut down her neighborhood. So far as I know, the substance has not yet been identified.

“When a loner crank attacks a black church, after posing with a Confederate emblem, dozens of historic war memorials must be ripped down. When an irreligious wife-beater and voyeur shoots up a strip mall that contains an abortion clinic, the whole pro-life movement is suspect. However, when a leftist or a Muslim kills those who don’t share his views, we’re supposed to blot that out of our minds. That would ‘politicize’ a tragedy,” writes John Zmirak.

“What you can’t find are Hollywood actors espousing such loathsome views, unpunished. No city or state governments will offer ‘sanctuary’ to people who break the law for reasons like that. No elite arts companies will sponsor live productions of Julius Caesar that climax with Barack Obama getting lynched. Thank God for that, of course. I am glad that the right has not climbed down into the same sewer as the left.

Obamacare has failed us.

1. Costs keep rising.

From 2010 to 2016, family premiums for employer-sponsored plans increased an average of $4,372.

2. Choice and competition keep shrinking.

Of the 23 nonprofit health insurers created through Obamacare, 17 have collapsed and one has changed its status to for-profit. Taxpayers loaned more than $2 billion to these companies that will never be repaid.

This year, 70% of U.S. counties have only one or two insurers offering coverage on the exchange. Next year, it’ll be worse.

3. If you like your plan and the government doesn’t, you can’t keep it.

As soon as the rules took effect, at least 4.7 million plans were canceled.

4. Imposing $800 billion in tax hikes.

Obamacare created or increased many different taxes that will total more than $800 billion over the next decade to offset the new entitlement spending in the law.

5. Expanding an already unsustainable Medicaid program.

Medicaid has longstanding issues that left its beneficiaries with limited access to care. Rather than reforming the program, Obamacare made the problem worse by adding millions of new recipients to the rolls.

2017_06 16 Hit listJames T. Hodgkinson, the shooter who opened fire on dozens of Republican congressmen and staffers at a baseball practice in Alexandria, Virginia, on Wednesday, had a hit list of Republican names in his pocket that was recovered by the FBI.

Names on the list included members of the House Freedom Caucus, which contains the lower chamber’s most conservative members.

HUD is matching public housing residents with local job opportunities

Government should be a means of empowerment, not dependency, as well as a safety net. As President Trump discusses building America’s workforce, public housing has a role in that discussion. Those who receive housing assistance must have a path toward jobs, wealth creation and economic improvement. We must remove attitudes, regulations, policies and programs that reinforce dependence.

Good Cops Saving Lives

Photo: Some of the weapons and ammo found a mere 47 mi south of Casa Hyphen when police executed search warrants on the properties of Ramadan Abdullah, 64.

The cache included four loaded handguns, eight assault weapons, 64 high-capacity ammunition feeding devices, one loaded shotgun, two rifles, thousands of rounds of ammunition, including .50 caliber armor piercing incendiary rounds, numerous firearm parts, and flak jackets.

Abdullah has been charged with multiple felonies and is behind bars awaiting arraignment.  State Police said they are investigating with federal authorities to determine if he is connected to any terror groups.

President Trump’s Statement on Shooting

As you all know, shortly after 7:00 a.m. this morning, a gunman opened fire on members of Congress and their staffs as they were practicing for tomorrow’s annual charity baseball game.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the crime, and the assailant has now died from his injuries. The FBI is leading the investigation and will continue to provide updates as new information becomes available.

Congressman Steve Scalise, a member of House leadership, was shot and badly wounded, and is now in stable condition at the hospital, along with two very courageous Capitol Police officers. At least two others were also wounded.

Many lives would have been lost if not for the heroic actions of the two Capitol Police officers who took down the gunman despite sustaining gunshot wounds during a very, very brutal assault.

Melania and I are grateful for their heroism and praying for the swift recovery of all victims.

Congressman Scalise is a friend, and a very good friend. He’s a patriot and he’s a fighter. He will recover from this assault. And, Steve, I want you to know that you have the prayers not only of the entire city behind you, but of an entire nation and, frankly, the entire world. America is praying for you and America is praying for all of the victims of this terrible shooting.

I spoke with Steve’s wife, Jennifer, and I pledged to her our full and absolute support — anything she needs. We are with her and with the entire Scalise family.

I have also spoken with Chief Matthew Verderosa — he’s doing a fantastic job — of the Capitol Police to express our sympathies for his wounded officers and to express my admiration for their courage. Our brave Capitol Police perform a challenging job with incredible skill, and their sacrifice makes democracy possible.

We also commend the brave first responders from Alexandria Police, Fire and Rescue who rushed to the scene. Everyone on that field is a public servant — our courageous police, our congressional aides who work so tirelessly behind the scenes with enormous devotion, and our dedicated members of Congress who represent our people.

We may have our differences, but we do well, in times like these, to remember that everyone who serves in our nation’s capital is here because, above all, they love our country.

We can all agree that we are blessed to be Americans, that our children deserve to grow up in a nation of safety and peace, and that we are strongest when we are unified and when we work together for the common good.

Please take a moment today to cherish those you love, and always remember those who serve and keep us safe. God bless them all, God bless you, and God Bless America. Thank you.
