Summer in the City

Growing up in the 1960’s we all remember certain songs that we related to a date or significant event in our formative years. John Sebastian and The Lovin’ Spoonful recorded this in 1966. I was 16 and had just gotten a drivers license. Every Saturday night my grandparents would go out to eat at the same restaurant. I knew I had about 2 hours after they left to take granddad’s 1960 Chevy station wagon and cruise the two lane blacktops around the area, radio blasting. Good times. Only got caught when they came home early once.

Police have not confirmed the dead man’s name yet, but if it is Syville/Savill Smith, it is yet another #BlackLivesMatter “martyr” who is actually a known gangbanger, just like Philando Castile and Alton Sterling, as GotNews proved.

The police have confirmed that the dead man has a long criminal record and died with a stolen gun. Gangbanger? Most likely.

Violent Standoff Between Milwaukee Police And Rioters After Officer-Involved Shooting 
More than 100 people gathered near the scene at N. 44th St. and W. Auer Ave. and at times pushed against a line of 20 to 30 officers, some of whom were in riot gear.

At one point, the officers got in their cars to leave and some in the crowd started smashing the windows and side of a squad car that appeared to be demolished. Another vehicle was set on fire. As officers returned to the scene, this time many more in riot gear, three or four gunshots could be heard about 8:45 p.m.
Soon thereafter, the crowd turned on and attacked reporters and a photographer from the Journal Sentinel. One reporter was shoved to the ground and punched.

Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke has requested the mobilization of the National Guard in the wake of violence that erupted in the City of Milwaukee late Saturday, August 13th and early Sunday, August 14th.
Clarke made the request after consulting with Gov. Scott Walker and Major Gen. Donald Dunbar of the Wisconsin National Guard.
Tom Barrett,the mayor of Milwaukee, is a democrat. Don’t look for a lot of support.
The only way to quell this nonsense is a shoot on sight order which, of course, will never happen. Wish it would.

Another exercise in futility, but what the hell.

It started two weeks ago when a steaming pile of human feces named Alton Sterling, a career criminal well-known to the police, was confronted for selling bootleg recordings outside a convenience store. He was known to carry a gun. Police demanded he show them his hands, which he refused to do, keeping one hand behind him. Already on high alert, when he brought his hand around in a sudden motion the police fired to protect themselves. This dirtbag became an instant martyr for the cause of racial hatred and set off en epidemic of cop killings that continues today.

The Republican National Convention is planned to kick off in Cleveland next Monday. Whether or not the #Never Trumpers manage to deny him the nomination on the first ballot remains to be seen. So far, at least one challenge to the convention rules from a Virginia delegate has been rejected:

Court Sides with Donald Trump and the People – Rules Delegates Cannot Go Rogue at Convention

US District court Judge Robert E. Payne sides with the people and and rules RNC delegates must follow the election results and cannot be stolen at the national election. The delegates must vote according to convention rules and cannot go rogue at convention.
Specifically, the Court found that RNC Rule 16, which binds delegates based on their election results, “is in effect presently and that it controls the allocation and binding of delegates as to their voting at convention.” (p. 6) The Court held that the Plaintiff’s “expert testimony” from Erling ‘Curly’ Haugland was not credible, lacked “textual support,” (p.6) and that “delegates are bound by RNC Rule 16.” (p. 7)

21 Officers Injured as St. Paul Freeway Protest Turns Violent

Hundreds of demonstrators began protesting at the Governor’s Residence in St. Paul Saturday night over the police-involved shooting death of Philando Castile earlier in the week before heading onto the I-94 freeway around 8 p.m., local Fox affiliate KMSP reported.

A judge has found a Baltimore Police van driver not guilty of all charges in the death of 25-year-old Freddie Gray, whose broken neck in police custody set off Baltimore’s worst riots in decades.

Two Muslim immigrant boys were arrested last week for the brutal sexual assault of a five year-old girl at an Idaho apartment complex.

Members of the Twin Falls, Idaho City Council smugly likened refugee resettlement critics to “white supremacists” following the attack.

The boys from Sudan were released into the custody of their parents on Thursday.
The two Sudanese boys, ages 10 and 14, were reportedly ordered by the court to have no contact with the victim, a 5-year-old special-needs girl, whom they allegedly assaulted in the laundry room of their apartment complex on June 2. They were not arrested until late last week. A third boy, age 7, was also involved but was never arrested. The younger boys allegedly urinated on the girl and one of them inappropriately touched her but the extent of that violation is not known. The case has been sealed by the prosecutor, which is standard procedure in juvenile offenses.

The older boy, 14, allegedly filmed the entire incident.
The two older boys are from Sudan and the 7-year-old is from Iraq.

Incidents where a gun was fired in self-defense are under-reported, as are incidents where a criminal fled when they discovered their intended target was armed.

And any time a citizen is able to shoot an attacker or hold a felon until the police arrive, it is likely that future crimes have also been prevented.

IT MATTERS NOT A WHIT, BUT THIS IS ANOTHER LIE

“A violent felon can buy the exact same weapon over the internet with no background check, no questions asked”? No, Mr. President, violent criminals can’t just go online and buy firearms. That’s illegal.

Lars Dalseide of the National Rifle Association’s Institute for Legislative Action told Townhall, “any sale from any licensed dealer first has to go through a background check. It doesn’t matter if he’s selling the firearm at a store, online, or at a gun show. When it comes to online sales, guns can only be transferred to the buyer through a federally licensed firearms dealer – that’s the law.”
