Debate Quickies

The entire Battle Royale lasted almost two hours last night. Chances are you didn’t sit through the entire thing. That’s understandable, I didn’t either. The fact is I can barely stand to listen to that lying crone for more than a few seconds. Who won the debate is strictly a matter of opinion. Maybe Donald felt he had to be restrained, for fear of being labeled a bully. I would have sliced and diced both her and that miserable shill who was doing the enabling… errr… moderating this spectacle. See previous post for more on that feckless pile of dreck.
All the videos are less than 2 minutes because my pain tolerance isn’t that high. Everyone with a computer has an opinion on last night’s show, but like they say: opinions are like bungholes… everybody has one.

Hillary Clinton said “everyone” in the country is implicitly biased against African Americans during Monday night’s presidential debate.
Moderator Lester Holt prompted the response when he asked Clinton if she thought the police were implicitly biased against blacks.
“Lester, I think implicit bias is a problem for everyone, not just police,” she said.

Holt asked Trump why he hasn’t released his tax returns, to which Trump asked why Hillary Clinton’s staff deleted 30,000 of her emails during her time in the State Department. As soon as he said the word “emails,” the audience cheered and applauded. Holt then reminded the crowd they are supposed to hold their applause until the end of the debate.
“I made a mistake and I take responsibility for using a private server,” Clinton responded.
“That’s for sure,” Trump agreed.

She told him to actually be a journalist.
“I challenge you to be a journalist tonight,” she said.
Hayes asked her if Trump will explain why he changed his stance on the birther issue during the first presidential debate on Monday.
“You know I find that to be a very interesting place for you to start, when there are so many issues that Americans are faced, including the economy, jobs, education, and you want to start with the birther,” she said. “The good thing is that he’s put that to bed and ready to move on.”
Hayes kept pushing the subject by telling her that Trump has spent five years going on about Obama’s birth place.
Manigault pointed out that he did acknowledge Obama is an American citizen and he’s going to move on from that and focus on issues.
Hayes was not going to take that answer.

Top climate skeptic to lead Trump’s EPA transition team
Myron Ebell, director of energy and environment policy at the conservative think tank Competitive Enterprise Institute, is heading Trump’s EPA transition preparation, E&E Daily reported Monday.
Ebell is an outspoken, longtime skeptic of the scientific consensus that human activity is dramatically changing the climate. He often refers to warnings about global warming as climate “alarmism” and is a vocal critic of President Obama’s climate change regulations.
Ebell has argued that the Clean Power Plan is illegal and that the Paris climate change agreement is unconstitutional.
Trump also doubts that human activity causes climate change.

Lester Sells His Soul

Lester Holt, the talentless biracial hack who reads the news on the Nothing But Clinton network, auditioned for the job of press secretary in a Clinton administration last night. I maintained my self-imposed boycott of all political television but the early reviews showed just how brazenly partisan the entire media is.

Donald Trump’s main opponent in the first presidential debate wasn’t Hillary Clinton. It was NBC anchor Lester Holt. Hillary, with forced smiles as brittle as china and an eerie fake laugh, continued her primary debate strategy of repeating canned talking points while waiting for the moderator to knock off her opponent. Hillary wasn’t there to debate, but to once again seem like the only possible option.

For Holt to allow her to get away with saying, “”It was a mistake” on her usage of email doesn’t cut it, not from a guy who was willing to hammer Trump on a remark like “I just don’t think she has a presidential look.”

Holt Interrupted Trump WAY More Than Clinton In Debate
Holt interrupted Trump a record 41 times, either to “fact-check” the Republican nominee, or to ask a follow-up question. Clinton was only interrupted seven times during the course of the 90-minute debate.
Holt interrupted Trump the most during a particularly heated exchange about Trump’s stance on the Iraq war. Both candidates attempted to dodge their former stances. Holt challenged Trump in particular, cutting him off several times to assert the business mogul did indeed support the war in Iraq when it was popular.
AT THAT POINT I’D HAVE ASKED HIM IF HE’D LIKE TO GET A PODIUM AND TAKE HIS PLACE NEXT TO HILLARY…. BUT THAT’S JUST ME.

LA Police Union: Police Commission Wants Cops To Run From Armed Suspects
“The key facts in this case are not in dispute. A female suspect, armed with an 8 to 9-inch knife, charged at officers, repeatedly ignored commands to stop, and was recorded yelling ‘shoot me’ as she swung her knife from side to side,” the LAPPL Board of Directors wrote in a blog post.
The armed suspect immediately closed the space between her knife and the police officers from 70 feet to no more than 5 feet in less 10 seconds. At this point, the first officer shot from his service weapon.

Mook Dodges Question on ‘Hillary Cover-Up Operation’ Twice

The Show Must Go On

The big day has arrived. The much-anticipated showdown between the Dowager Queen and the Media Mogul. In the porta-potty that is the NBC complex they are anticipating a viewership in excess of 100 million. There has already been a lot of hype and today promises more of the same.

The Democratic nominee’s communications director, Jennifer Palmieri, has approached members of the press twice this a week with concerns about moderators treating Clinton unfairly. Palmieri warned reporters Friday to be on the lookout for any falsehoods that GOP nominee Donald Trump might repeat during the debate on Sept. 26.
“Debates are about each candidate laying out their vision for America, not making things up. Donald Trump has shown a clear pattern of repeating provably false lies and hoping no one corrects him. Voters and viewers should keep track: Any candidate who tells this many lies clearly can’t win the debate on the merits,” Palmieri said in a conference call.

Three Pieces of Debate Advice for Donald Trump

First, corruption. Donald Trump can say, “Hillary, I’ll take it at your word that when you and your husband left the Oval Office, you were – as you put it – “broke.” I want to know, the American people should know, how it is that you and your husband have since earned over $230 million? Since you left graduate school, the two of you have either been running for office or been in office. The media doesn’t seem interested in the question. But the American people deserve an answer. Too many of our public servants are getting rich trading on their political connections. It’s not just you, Hillary. Let’s take Senator Tom Daschle and Senator Trent Lott – who spent their entire lives in Congress. They are now rich men. I could go on and on.

Finally Friday

Apparently there was a debate last night. It’s all over the political websites this morning. Unfortunately (or not) I had more important things to watch last night. Like movies on the couch with my beloved child bride. It appears Rubio and Cruz were seen conspiring to gang up on The Donald and to some degree it worked. Trump was confronted time and again about his ever-changing opinions on just about everything. The problem is that at this stage of the campaign it’s probably too late to stop him. It is assured if both stay in the race until the convention they’ll split the opposition to Trump.

I have never made it a secret that I don’t trust Trump. From the polls I’ve seen I am simpatico with 60% of republican voters. You just can’t completely trust someone who was a democrat until his alleged “come to Jesus” moment about 18 months ago. Most of us remember the popularity of ‘spoilers’ like John B. Anderson (my former congresscritter) and that hand grenade with a bad haircut, Ross Perot, who sounded good until you realized he verbalized what people were feeling but offered no solutions. The Trumpster talks a good game but has almost no chance of ever getting anything done. How is he going to build a coalition on the hill without making deals with the entrenched democrats AND the republicans?

There is always deal-making, jockeying for plum positions, and there is now talk of a brokered convention. I will vote for Trump if he is the party’s nominee, since the alternative is unthinkable. The trouble is there are a lot of voters on our side who are willing to “send a message” to the GOP elites at the cost of a third Obama term in the form of a ruthless, cold-hearted, soulless bitch whose greed knows no limits.

Trumpageddon: Cruz and Rubio Unveil Plan to Mock and Dismantle Frontrunner

Over the course of the last 48 hours, the Rubio campaign pulled one of the great head-fakes in recent political history by telegraphing that they weren’t at all interested in attacking Donald Trump at tonight’s debate. Technically, this wasn’t a ruse because Rubio didn’t just attack Trump. He went after him with a chainsaw. And Ted Cruz brought a pair of pliers and a blowtorch.

If the normal laws of politics applied to the 2016 race, it would have been a catastrophic night for Trump. By any reasonable measure, Trump had a meltdown. He was exposed as a policy lightweight on a host of issues.

But will it hurt him? Probably not by itself. But if tonight’s debate is the beginning of a sustained counterattack against Trump—by Cruz and Rubio themselves on the stump, by their campaigns on the air, and by reluctant donors who now see that there’s a blueprint for dismantling the orange menace—then it could mark the beginning of the end for Trump.

PBS’ Donor-Moderator Fails to Ask Hillary About Clinton Foundation

Co-moderator Judy Woodruff happens to be a donor to the Clinton Foundation, and faced criticism from the PBS ombudsman in 2015 for giving to the Clintons.

Woodruff is one of several journalists who has contributed to the Clinton Foundation, which has been criticized as a “slush fund” for the Clintons’ own expenses, rather than on direct giving to charitable programs. Neither Woodruff nor co-moderator Gwen Ifill broached the subject. Clinton’s rival, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), has also declined to criticize her for her emails and potential conflicts of interest.

‘That is a low blow’: Democratic debate derails after Hillary torches Bernie over past Obama criticism

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vermont) had a terse back-and-forth near the end of the Thursday-night Democratic presidential debate, during which Sanders accused Clinton of a “low blow.”

Clinton took an opportunity to rip Sanders over his past criticism of President Barack Obama.

In an NBC interview that aired Thursday, Sanders took a slight dig at Obama, suggesting he failed to close the “presidential leadership gap” between Congress and the American public.

Moderators Have Still Not Asked Democrats One Question About Abortion

Sen. Marco Rubio’s best moment at the Feb. 6 Republican presidential debate in New Hampshire didn’t come in the form of an answer, but a question:

“Why doesn’t the media ask Hillary Clinton why she believes that all abortions should be legal, even on the due date of that unborn child,” he said.

On CBS’ “Face the Nation,” Clinton responded to Rubio by calling his comment “pathetic” and proceeded to give a non-answer about her record of advocating for “safe and legal” abortion.

Where’s Chrissy?

It’s been more than 4 years since I was granted the privilege of posting here. In all that time the one constant has been the best friend I’ll never meet, CtH. She is far and away the most prolific producer of quality material. It’s been since Jan. 31 since anybody’s heard from her. If anybody can make contact, please speak up. We all care about her and the crew here in the bunkhouse are sending up prayers for her welfare. I will try to continue in her stead, but what I do is a poor substitute for her talent.

Just a couple videos from the Republican debate Saturday night. The Crisco Kid whined that the GOP was ‘hiding’ it the night before the Super bowl. Turns out it drew three times the viewers of the Bern and Cankles Show.

Clearly, the biggest loser of the debate was new establishment darling Amnesty McRubio. Gov. Krispy Kreme hammered him mercilessly and some polls have him at 19% and falling.

Ted Cruz Shuts Down Martha Raddatz’s Cheap Gotcha on North Korea

Barack Obama’s personal friend then interrupted:

RADDATZ: Senator Cruz you have talked tough about this, you have talked tough about the Mideast — you haven’t gotten intelligence briefings about that. Why not tell us if you would pre-emptively strike a missile on a lunch pad that threatened the U.S.?

At this point, Cruz shut Raddatz down:

CRUZ: With due respect, I have gotten intelligence briefings on the Mideast. Those have been going on for many years. I haven’t gotten the intelligence briefings tonight on what North Korea is doing because I’m here in New Hampshire. And when you are responding to an immediate incident, you need to know the intelligence of what’s occurring.
