Flight 93 Memorial is Barry-caded

2013_10 10 Flight 93 closed

The Flight 93 National Memorial is a 400-acre bowl-shaped area.

The land was acquired partly by

  • donations from land-owners,
  • purchases made with cash donations,
  • purchases made with profits made by the film United 93.

The monument itself was paid for with

  • private donations ($20 million),
  • money provided by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania ($18.5 million), and
  • money appropriated by Congress ($10 million).

The Flight 93 National Memorial Campaign was a partnership among:

  • the Families of Flight 93,
  • the Flight 93 Federal Advisory Commission,
  • the Flight 93 Memorial Task Force,
  • the National Park Service,
  • the National Park Foundation and
  • many representatives of
    • local,
    • state and
    • national organizations,
    • agencies and
    • interests, as well as
    • people from around the world.

The National Park Service, its volunteers, and its partners ordinarily work to honor the sacrifice of those on Flight 93.

  • Winter Hours: 9AM-5PM (effective October 13, 2010)
  • Summer Hours: 9AM-7PM (effective April 1, 2011)

President Stompy Foot ordered it closed.

The NPS still has staff there … to keep people OUT.

Senate Democrats continue to REFUSE to bring a House bill to the floor for a vote that would authorize funding for the National Park Service and get all our parks reopened.

Jerry Brown said NO to Left Wingnuts!

Governor Jerry Brown of California is definitely a liberal. But he’s not afraid to occasionally go against the grain of the left wing of his party.

In 2002, California lawmakers wisely expanded the statute of limitation for sex abuse victims and the Catholic Church approved.

But the Church opposed a recent bill that would have eliminated the statute of limitations on sexual crimes committed against minors … but only for private institutions.

The bill exempted public schools and other government institutions and Governor Brown was correct to veto it.

Is there a doctor in the house?

Obamacare has fallen, and it can’t get up.

“It’s been one full week since the flagship technology portion of the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) went live. And since that time, the befuddled beast that is Healthcare.gov has shutdown, crapped out, stalled, and mis-loaded so consistently that its track record for failure is challenged only by Congress.

“The site itself, which apparently underwent major code renovations over the weekend, still rejects user logins, fails to load drop-down menus and other crucial components for users that successfully gain entrance, and otherwise prevents uninsured Americans in the 36 states it serves from purchasing healthcare at competitive rates – Healthcare.gov’s primary purpose. The site is so busted that, as of a couple days ago, the number of people that successfully purchased healthcare through it was in the “single digits,” according to the Washington Post.

“The reason for this nationwide headache apparently stems from poorly written code, which buckled under the heavy influx of traffic that its engineers and administrators should have seen coming. But the fact that Healthcare.gov can’t do the one job it was built to do isn’t the most infuriating part of this debacle – it’s that we, the taxpayers, seem to have forked up more than $500 million of the federal purse to build the digital equivalent of a rock.” —Andrew Couts, We Paid Over $500 Million for the Obamacare Site And All We Got Was This Lousy 404

“The House Republicans’ fourth (and latest) offer asks for only two changes in Obamacare: First, eliminate the subsidy for members of Congress, which has outraged the public. And second, delay for a year making insurance mandatory for individuals. Let anyone enroll in Obamacare who wants to. But don’t penalize individuals for being uninsured in 2014 when the president has already postponed the penalty on big companies for not insuring workers.

“‘The Affordable Care Act is a law that passed the House, it passed the Senate, the Supreme Court ruled it constitutional … and it is settled,’” said Obama.

“Not so. The health program the president is imposing on us is not the Affordable Care Act. The president has dismembered and mangled it. Gone is the employer mandate, the cap on out of pocket expenses, income verification and over half the deadlines specified in the law. The President delayed or did away with these features, without asking Congress. Illegally. Then he added 1,472 waivers and connived a subsidy for members of Congress that no one else in American earning $174,000 a year could get. The Supreme Court has ruled twice that presidents cannot delay, amend, and repeal parts of laws.” —Betsy McCaughey, Obama’s Dangerous Claim to Executive Power

“By funding uncontroversial and broadly popular programs while not automatically funding everything else, the Republicans are trying to trick the government into setting priorities, building bipartisan coalitions, and engaging the public in how to spend their tax money. Obama seemed to think this was self-evidently foolish, which tells you much about what the president thinks of the taxpayers.

“Then the president added, almost as an afterthought: ‘And you know, we don’t get to select which programs we implement or not.’ Since Obama chooses which parts of which laws he wants to implement and enforce at will, as if Congress were a supercommittee brainstorming ideas rather than a coequal branch passing laws, I’m guessing he would explain that he is again being take too literally when he’s obviously just posturing.” —Seth Mandel, Obama Stumbles Despite Friendly Press

“[Obamacare] was presented as an act of charity, a plan to cover the uninsured. That was the issue as they presented it. But the actual goal of Obamacare’s socialist sponsors was a single payer system – government healthcare — which would put the state in control of the lives of every American, man, woman and child. That is the reason that none of the promises made about Obamacare was true, beginning with his campaign lie that Obamacare government health care was not a program he would support. Obamacare will not cover 30 million uninsured Americans, as Obama and the Democrats said it would; Obamacare will not lower costs, as they promised it would; Obamacare will deprive many Americans of their doctors and healthcare plans, as they assured everyone it would not; Obamacare is a new tax, as they swore it wouldn’t be. All these promises Obama and the Democrats made were false because they were only a camouflage for their real goal actual goal, which was universal control. …

“If you want to fight the left you have to fight fire with fire. That means first and foremost you have to hold them to account for hurting the people they are pretending to help. Whose opportunities are going to be wrecked by Obamacare? Health care taxes will go up for those who pay taxes – the middle class – while their incomes will go down. Already Obamacare is cutting the workweek to 30 hours. Whose pocket books do you think that is hitting?” —David Horowitz, The Threat We Face

“President Obama has made many promises about his signature health care plan, but one of the simplest was an assurance that it would lower national health care spending and save every family thousands of dollars.

“But now government actuaries have reached a different conclusion, finding that ObamaCare will actually increase health care spending by $621 billion over the next 10 years. …

“Jim Capretta of the Ethics and Public Policy Center says the actuaries ‘made it very clear in their projections that the health care law did not bend the cost curve down. It bent it up,’ he says, adding, ‘there will be increase in national health spending associated with the implementation of the health care law.'” —Jim Angle, Government Actuaries Say Obamacare Will Increase Health Care Spending

“I’ve worked on massive database projects in the private sector, and I suspect that Chung is correct.  We do know that some testing took place, which is why everyone involved in the project was sending up warning flares for months about its status. HHS and the White House might have rolled it out with full knowledge of its incompetence hoping that they could provide enough assistance to jolly people along, but I don’t think that was the case. The failure caught them flat-footed last Tuesday, and the failure of the weekend retooling effort seemed to do the same. It looks as though no one bothered to actually sit down and try to go from A to Z in the system themselves.

“By the way, in one such project in my experience, the company got rid of the program managers when the team didn’t deliver … after eight months. There isn’t a private-sector firm in the world that would have tolerated a web-portal project taking 42 months and delivering this kind of train wreck.” —Ed Morrissey, Did Anyone Bother to Test the Obamacare Software First?

“Canadian provincial health officials last year fired the parent company of CGI Federal, the prime contractor for the problem-plagued Obamacare health exchange websites, the Washington Examiner has learned.

“CGI Federal’s parent company, Montreal-based CGI Group, was officially terminated in September 2012 by an Ontario government health agency after the firm missed three years of deadlines and failed to deliver the province’s flagship online medical registry. …

“Officials at the U.S. government’s Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services awarded six technology contracts worth $87 million to CGI Federal for Obamacare website work, according to the U.S. Government Accountability Office.

“The CMS officials refused to say if federal officials knew of its parent company’s IT failure in Canada when awarding the six contracts.

“CGI Federal built Obamacare’s Healthcare.gov, which went live Oct. 1 but has since experienced multiple technical problems, including crashes, refusal to load and sign-on, or to provide accurate information.” —Richard Pollock, Canadian Officials Fired IT Firm Behind Troubled Obamacare Website

Is this more of Bully-bama’s work?

October 12, 2013: The EBT system crashed in 17 states, leaving food stamp shoppers out of luck. U.S. Department of Agriculture spokeswoman Courtney Rowe said the outage is not related to the government shutdown.

2013_10 12 EBT glitch

Typically when the cards aren’t working retailers can call a backup phone number to find out how much money customers have available in their account. But that information also was unavailable because of the outage, so customers weren’t able to use their cards.

Pretty convenient glitch, coming right when Obama Democrats are under fire for doing everything possible to make the shut down HURT.

I’ve just got two thoughts at the moment.

One, expect Lefties and their Well Trained Sheeple to blame Republicans in 3 … 2 … 1.

2013_10 12 FY Boehner

Two, consider what life in these United States will become when the Debt Train crashes and the Gummint Goodies STOP for real.

2013_10 12 Preview of days to come

Twitchy collected more reports from on the ground:

  • Just came back from Walmart and people EBT cards not working. They looking sick.
  • these ppl on connected are really freaking out because thier ebt doesn’t work.
  • EBT is down in the state of Georgia , seen lots of pissed off people today at work.
  • EBT cards turned off in Maryland
  • Almost a riot in Aldi bc EBT is down. Not leaving the house again.
  • Mom saw a bunch of women crying bc their EBT cards dont work & now they cant feed their kids. Breaks my heart.
  • ebt shutdown. It’s about to get really fucking real!!!
  • lock your doors load your guns they cut off ebt cards
  • Yeah it’s really a “coincidence” that the EBT system is down during a government shutdown. How’s the weather in your factless bubble?
  • Well, “never let a crisis go to waste”….

Senate FINALLY votes on volunteer chaplains

2013_10 06 Senate blocks military masses

LAST Saturday, the House passed (400-1) a bill to allow contract chaplains to volunteer without reprisal on military bases during the shut-down.

The Senate refused to take up the bill until late THIS Thursday and only then because voters YAPPED at them all week to get their thumbs out. The bill passed unanimously, so the civilian chaplains who fill in the gaps for soldiers without uniformed chaplains available will have services this week-end.

Take note here, folks.

This bill did not involve any MONEY. It was merely about giving these “non-essential” (and part-time) government employees PERMISSION to tend to their flocks WITHOUT REPRISAL. The law about fines and arrests for furloughed gov’t employees voluntarily doing their jobs anyway dates back to the 19th c. It’s got nothing to do with Obama Democrats.

Obama Democrats were just the schmucks who refused to WAIVE this law for the specific benefit of troops who do not have access to a chaplain of their denomination.

This mostly affects Catholics. About 25% of the military is Catholic, but less than 10% of the military chaplains are priests. I heard stories about Catholics serving in uniform whose scheduled baptisms and weddings were affected by this petty Democrat intransigence.

Huh? Why would you ask THAT?!

2013_10 09 DWS gobsmacked

As for all the glitches, long waits and downed servers, well HARUMPH. How DARE you criticize?! The Obamacare sites are having trouble because SO MANY PEOPLE WANT TO ACCESS THEM! SO THERE! Yeah and like … isn’t that why you spent OUR money hyping them? So people would access them? Are you aware of how many Americans there ARE? Oh wait. That’s “data” … I’m just a voter. I got no right to ask for data.

And check out the banner MSNBC put at the top of the screen. “The Place for Politics” with Obama’s current slogan “Lean Forward.” MSNBC is the Special PR Arm of the Democrat-Progressive Party … you know, the one they don’t have to declare, because they don’t PAY them or anything. (I wouldn’t bet the house on the likelihood that the same Progressive Billionaire who heavily funds Democrats isn’t also heavily funding the “ratings in the basement” MSNBC.)

But enough of that … check out what’s BETWEEN “The Place for Politics” and “Lean Forward.” ::snort:: The Dow is DOWN 33.43 points. Isn’t that little banner the perfect icon of today’s Democrats?! Add in DWS’ Clueless Face and you’ve really GOT them all in one 210 KB graphic. I love it!

DON’T BLINK!

Oct 9, 2013 in WASHINGTON, D.C.

Republican senators put THIRTEEN unanimous consent requests to the Senate, each of which would reopen some part of the federal government, including the National Institute of Health, the National Park Services and the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Democrats BLOCKED every single one of them! They’re holding out for ALL OR NOTHING. They want Americans to HURT as much as possible and BLAME REPUBLICANS for it. They’re hoping that a combination of STUPIDITY and BIASED MEDIA will push Americans to pressure Republicans to cave.

My word to Republicans is …

DON’T CAVE!

DON’T EVEN BLINK!

We’re sick to death of being dictated to by this nasty, bullying Obama Democrat Progressive Minority!!

Obama’s DoD informed military “no death benefits” by TWITTER

These people really have NO SHAME.

This video should be on your Must View ASAP list. Please set aside 16 minutes to listen. No need to watch. It’s just a talking head. But do listen. And if you can, get your favorite Obama Apologist to listen too.

Majority Leader Harry Reid Objects to Funding the VA. Again. [16:10]

Republican Senator Cruz: Veterans are an American issue, not a partisan issue. Refusing death benefits is an abomination. Eight bills have come from the House to fund parts of the government. The Democrats have not allowed any of them to come to the floor.

Democrat Senator Reid: Blah blah blah

REID SHORT TRANSLATION: No, I will not allow the Senate to vote on funding death benefits.

LONG TRANSLATION: I’m in charge of the Senate and I’m Obama’s lapdog. So no, we are NOT voting on any “piecemeal” funding of anything, because we want everybody to HURT AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE so we can get Obamacare funded without any negotiation whatsoever and never mind that half of all Americans hate it and that Obama Democrats are the ONLY people refusing to fund the Veterans Administration or open the parks or allow chaplains to VOLUNTEER their services on military bases because DEMOCRATS CARE. You can be sure of this because we keep telling you. Also, (with respect to my dear friend and colleague Senator Cruz) REPUBLICANS SUCK.

Democrat Lackeys: We don’t need to vote on your stupid Republican piecemeal bills, because we are happy to vote on complete (with Obamacare) funding.

Republican Senator Cruz: Veterans should not be held hostage by partisan political issues like whether or not we fund Obamacare. Democrats are holding veterans hostage by refusing to even vote on veteran funding and demanding all or nothing funding.

Crimes and Misdemeanors

2013_10 08 How about some dignity and respect for us

We The People own the National Mall

Not Obama. Not Obama Democrats.

But Obama and his Bully Democrats led by Senate-majority leader Harry Reid have chosen to maximize the pain of the government “shut down” by Barry-cading all national parks, memorials and monuments.

This includes the National Mall.

October 8, 2013: During the Camino Americano protest on the (closed except for them) National Mall, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi made a point to thank President Obama personally for allowing the illegal alien protest to take place as scheduled … on the CLOSED National Mall.

Among the many pre-planned events for the National Mall that were cancelled because of the Democrat Embargo on We the People:

  • The Kicking for Kids Who Can’t Kick-a-thon sponsored by the Amputee Coalition
  • The Children’s National Medical Center’s 5k Race for Every Child.

POINT ONE: Obama restricted the use of publicly-owned national property to serve his personal political agenda.

The national parks etc. are closed because Obama Democrats refuse to negotiate with Republicans about the budget. If they can’t have Obamacare fully funded without discussion, then nobody can use national property. (Nyah. Nyah.)

POINT TWO: Obama lifted the restriction on the use of publicly-owned national property to serve his personal political agenda.

“We are not going to ship back 12 million people, we’re not going to do it as a practical matter. We would have to take all our law enforcement that we have available and we would have to use it and put people on buses, and rip families apart, and that’s not who we are, that’s not what America is about. So what I’ve proposed… is you say we’re going to bring these folks out of the shadows. We’re going to make them pay a fine, they are going to have to learn English, they are going to have to go to the back of the line…but they will have a pathway to citizenship over the course of 10 years.” (Obama – http://www.usamnesty.org/)

President Obama has knowingly converted the National Mall (owned by We the People) to his personal use. That is a crime punishable by a fine and/or up to ten years imprisonment.

18 USC § 641 – Public money, property or records

Whoever embezzles, steals, purloins, or knowingly converts to his use or the use of another, or without authority, sells, conveys or disposes of any record, voucher, money, or thing of value of the United States or of any department or agency thereof, or any property made or being made under contract for the United States or any department or agency thereof; or Whoever receives, conceals, or retains the same with intent to convert it to his use or gain, knowing it to have been embezzled, stolen, purloined or converted— (http://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/18/641).

If the President breaks a law, abuses his power, violates the public trust and/or employs the power of his office for an improper purpose or for personal gain, he commits an impeachable offense.

Article 2 Section 4 addresses impeachment. “The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors.”

“High Crimes and Misdemeanors” are:

1. Real criminality — breaking a law
2. Abuses of power
3. Violation of public trust — defined by Alexander Hamilton in the Federalist Papers
4. Behavior grossly incompatible with the proper function and purpose of the office
5. Employing the power of the office for an improper purpose or for personal gain — personal gain does not have to be material or monetary
