Showdown in Alabama

It’s David vs. Goliath; the republican establishment has pumped $30 million into the primary race between corrupt, crooked-as-a-dog’s-hind-leg Luther Strange, and Judge Roy Moore, who lost his job for standing up for his faith and refusing to remove the Ten Commandments from his courtroom. It has come down to a contest between Steve Bannon and Donald Trump who, inexplicably, has backed McConnell’s choice, Strange. Time will tell.

Roy Moore Maintains Lead in Polls Despite Trump Rally for Opponent Luther Strange
The data analytics group Optimus, which conducted a poll on Friday and Saturday, has Moore at 55.4 percent versus Strange at 44.6 percent. An Emerson College Polling Society survey found its results to be similar, with Moore at 50 percent versus Strange at 40 percent.

Judge Roy Moore: ‘If They Can’t Beat Me with $30 Million…There’s a Crack in the Dam’
Judge Roy Moore delivered his closing message to voters in Alabama at a raucous barn rally packed with supporters.
“If they can’t beat me with $30 million and we only had about $1.5 … If they can’t beat me, then there’s a crack in the dam, the whole thing falls,” he said as the crowd applauded.

Whoa: Roy Moore 57, Luther Strange 41 in new Alabama GOP Senate poll
My guess was that Moore will win tomorrow night by eight points despite the fact that he’s led by more in various polls of the Alabama runoff. If Trafalgar’s right, the actual margin will be double that. It’ll be a blowout and an embarrassing rebuke to Trump, who not only couldn’t get his guy over the finish line after a rally in Huntsville but couldn’t get him within 15 points of victory.

Trump throws McConnell under the bus on Alabama radio…
CNN – “As you know, Mitch is not, polling-wise, the most popular guy in this country,” Trump said. “They like to label (Strange) because he happened to be there for a number of months in the Senate, so they like to label him as Mitch’s best friend but he’s not. He hardly even knows him. He’ll be fighting Mitch.”

While Alabama Attorney General, Luther Strange Did Nothing to Stop Swamp Deal to Pay Bob Corker $3 Million
Senator Bob Corker (R-TN) is set to receive more than $3 million in direct payments from the City of Mobile from sales taxes paid at stores in McGowin Park by Alabama consumers as part of a controversial and unprecedented sweetheart deal that Senator Luther Strange (R-AL) did nothing to stop as Attorney General of Alabama when the deal was arranged in 2013 and 2014 by a law firm whose partners and political action committee contributed $28,000 to his Senate campaign in 2017.

Weiner Gets Roasted

There were so many puns to use in the title it was frightening. I went with one of the cleaner options. You’re welcome.

Weiner Gets Hard Time — 21 Months For ‘Sexting’ Minor
Anthony Weiner, the former congressman and notorious sexual deviant whose aberrant behavior may have helped cost Hillary Clinton the presidency, was sentenced Monday to 21 months in federal prison for exchanging lewd photos with a minor.
A tearful Weiner told U.S. District Judge Denise Cote that the he had found his rock bottom.
Weiner’s lawyers hoped he would get off with probation, arguing he needs therapy under medical and psychological supervision.

THE LONG-AWAITED ALABAMA PRIMARY IS TOMORROW
Emerson Poll: Judge Roy Moore Holds 10-Point Lead over Luther Strange in Alabama Senate Race
That lead, found in the Emerson College Polling Society poll, is down from 14 points from the last Emerson poll taken at the beginning of the month, as undecided voters appear to be breaking for Strange. But the society believes it unlikely to be enough to carry Strange to victory.

IF THE NEXT TWO TRUMP STATEMENTS ARE CONFUSING TO YOU, YOU’RE NOT ALONE
Trump: Dems will win Alabama Senate seat if Moore wins primary
“Ray will have a hard time. If Luther wins, the Democrats will hardly fight. If Ray wins, [Democrats] will pour in $30 million,” he said, repeatedly referring to Moore by the wrong name.
When host Rick Burgess pointed out that Moore’s name is Roy, Trump responded that it’s “not a good sign” if the president doesn’t know his name.

NEVER MIND WHAT HE JUST SAID
Donald Trump: I’ll Be ‘Campaigning Like Hell’ for Roy Moore If He Beats Luther Strange
But Trump stood by his endorsement of Strange, saying that the McConnell backed candidate was being “unfairly labeled” as “best friends of Mitch McConnell.”
“He doesn’t even know Mitch, I mean he met him a few months ago when he came to Washington, he got to know him a little bit, but he virtually doesn’t even know him,” Trump said. “You know politics is a dirty business, you guys might have figured that out by now.”

The Obama Legacy

The amount of havoc and destruction intentionally caused by the former muslim-in-chief is immeasurable. President Trump can undo some of the harm caused through executive order — doing away with onerous regulations, undoing the blatant land grabs and climate fraud and rebuilding our military. He is nominating many constitutionalist judges but he can do nothing about the ones Obama inserted like legal suppositories, thanks to the gone and forgotten Harry Reid. These judges will haunt our legal system for years to come.

Activist Judge Appointed by Obama Blocks Texas Voter ID Law – For Second Time
Obama-appointed Judge Nelva Gonzales Ramos struck down the Texas voter ID law on Wednesday that requires ID’s to vote. Judge Ramos believes it is racist to believe blacks and Hispanics are able to fill out paperwork and purchase an ID card.

Earlier this year the Trump-Sessions DOJ asked a federal court to dismiss the department’s earlier claim that the ID law was enacted with the intention of discriminating against minority voters.

Americans need ID cards to function successfully in society.
But Democrats love their voter fraud.
A federal court judge in Texas struck down the state’s voter ID law on Wednesday, ruling it had a discriminatory intent and effect against Hispanic and black voters.

California’s Top Judge Tells ICE To Leave Courthouses As State Readies Sanctuary Law

State Chief Justice Tani Cantil-Sakauye, who has previously condemned Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operations at court facilities, said Tuesday she has a duty to call out federal agents who arrest illegal immigrants in or near the California’s courthouses.
“If no one ever speaks out, then we can never be the land of the free and the home of the brave,” Cantil-Sakauye said at a panel discussion hosted by state Sen. Hannah-Beth Jackson, according to the Sacramento Bee.

Court blocks major pipeline approvals, says feds didn’t consider ‘climate change’
A federal court has halted a major natural gas pipeline project from being built on grounds that federal regulators did not consider the “carbon emissions that the pipelines will make possible.”
The lawsuit was odd given at least some of the natural gas would have been used to retire older, coal-fired power plants. Natural gas emits less carbon dioxide than coal when burned for energy, and lowering U.S. CO2 emissions is ostensibly a goal of the environmental movement.
Judge Janice Brown countered in her dissenting opinion that FERC did not have to consider the effects a pipeline might have on global warming because that was the purview of other federal and state agencies.
Brown pointed out that FERC could approve a pipeline, but it had no power to approve the power plant that took the gas.
Brown wrote “the truth is that FERC has no control over whether the power plants that will emit these greenhouse gases will come into existence or remain in operation.”

New Gov’t Regulations Absolutely Plummet Under Trump
In the first half of 2017, the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs has processed some 67 regulatory actions, ranging from notices to final rules. During the first six months of former President Barack Obama’s first term, the department coursed through three times as many, processing 216 regulatory actions.
New regulations spiked even more under former Presidents George W. Bush and Bill Clinton. The Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs processed 310 under Bush and a whopping 993 under Clinton.

A LITTLE FUN READING: NBC NEWS STILL PISSING AND MOANING ABOUT HOW THEIR HERO, THE NEXT AMERICAN EMPRESS HAD HER LUNCH STOLEN AND EATEN IN FRONT OF A STUNNED AUDIENCE
12 Days That Stunned a Nation: How Hillary Clinton Lost
WASHINGTON — Less than two weeks before Election Day, Hillary Clinton held a clear lead in the polls and it looked like her campaign was trying to run up the score — just as the race was about to turn upside down.
At 12:37 p.m. ET on Friday, Oct. 28 — with 12 days left in the election — the campaign blasted out an advisory to reporters announcing that the former secretary of state would be campaigning in reliably Republican Arizona, a move that suggested her team was gunning to compete in states well beyond the battlegrounds they needed for victory against GOP nominee Donald Trump.
They had every right to be confident. State polls had Clinton ahead in key battlegrounds like Pennsylvania and North Carolina. Even the data team doing analytics for the Trump campaign was telling reporters that, as of Oct. 27, they had just a 15 percent chance of winning.
In retrospect, however, the race was never as stable as it appeared. A contest featuring the two most unpopular candidates in modern presidential campaign history made the political terrain unstable — and more susceptible to sudden shifts.

Live results: Alabamageddon

Why watch the results, then? Because: There are potentially major implications for Trump if Strange either strongly overperforms or underperforms. Trump has endorsed Strange repeatedly on Twitter over the past week; Strange is also backed by Mitch McConnell, who sees him as more of a team player in his caucus than either Brooks or Moore would be. (Case in point, both of the latter have endorsed ending the filibuster for legislation, something McConnell and a majority of the Senate oppose.)

Curtis wins Republican primary in Utah, favored to replace Chaffetz

The mayor in the Mormon stronghold of Provo won a three-way Republican primary Tuesday in the race to replace former Rep. Jason Chaffetz, putting him on track to clinch the congressional seat in the general election in the overwhelming GOP district.

John Curtis pulled off the win despite being dogged by attack ads from deep-pocketed outside groups in a race whose three candidates were emblematic of the divisions roiling the GOP under President Donald Trump.

Curtis is a former Democrat who was the most moderate of the Republican candidates running in Utah’s 3rd Congressional District, which Chaffetz represented until June when he abruptly resigned, citing a desire to spend more time with family.

Special Election Day

There are actually TWO special elections today… One you probably know about, one you probably don’t.
In Alabama, it’s a barn burner of a primary in the race to replace Jeff Sessions in the U.S. Senate.
McConnell’s handpicked boy Luther Strange, Judge Roy Moore, and Mo Brooks, who was Cruz’ campaign manager during last year’s presidential primary. Most of the quotes from Strange attacking him came during that period when he criticized Trump. If no candidate gets more than 50% of the vote, there will be a runoff in October. For reasons known only to himself, Trump is said to be backing Strange, probably at the behest of the sniveling, backstabbing Senate majority leader, as he tries to solidify his elitist cabal.
The Battle of Alabama: Mitch McConnell Influence Test Comes Up Tuesday

The question as to whether Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell will maintain a rock solid grip on power over his Senate GOP conference for years to come will face voters in a deep red state in Alabama on Tuesday, as the McConnell-backed appointment-created incumbent Sen. Luther Strange (R-AL) faces the serious possibility of losing his election before he even gets to a runoff.
It is worth noting that despite all his bluster about being pro-Trump, Strange and his campaign refused to appear on Breitbart News Saturday this weekend. He is refusing to appear in front of Trump-supporting audiences everywhere and has not been willing to publicly back the president and his agenda when it comes down to whether someone supports McConnell or supports Trump.

Alabama U.S. Senate GOP Primary Preview–What to Watch For

Moore has been a fixture in Alabama politics through the last three decades. He comes out of Etowah County, where he originally made a name for himself in the 1990s as a circuit court judge. At the time, he made waves by hanging a wooden plaque displaying the Ten Commandments behind his bench.
That display drew the ire of the American Civil Liberties Union, which filed suit in 1995. The ensuing controversy sealed Moore’s status as a national figure.
The attention Moore received from that suit catapulted him to win an election for chief justice of the Alabama Supreme Court.

Moore and Brooks have both been the targets of an attack ad campaign by the Senate Leadership Fund, a super PAC controlled by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and which has been decidedly pro-Luther Strange.
The ads have focused on comments Brooks made while supporting Trump’s opponent Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) in last year’s GOP primary.

In recent days, the Senate Leadership Fund has also started targeting Roy Moore. One of their ads, titled “More for Moore,” suggests that Moore and his wife financially benefited from his Foundation for Moral Law, an organization Moore was a part of after being removed from the Alabama Supreme Court in 2003.

DEMOCRATS RUNNING IN THE PRIMARY — KIND OF LIKE REPUBLICANS IN CALIFORNIA OR ILLINOIS:
Will Boyd – Minister
Vann Caldwell – Talladega County constable
Jason Fisher – Vice president of marketing firm
Michael Hansen – Nonprofit executive
Doug Jones – Former U.S. attorney
Robert Kennedy Jr. – Vice president of marketing firm
Nana Tchienkou – Business consultant

No, not THAT Robert Kennedy Jr., this one:

The primary getting far less attention is the one to replace useless slug Jason Chaffetz in Utah, another deep red state.
Race Tightens for Chaffetz’s House Seat a Day Before Primary

Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-UT) shocked the country last year when he said he planned to step down from his seat. Now those in his GOP-dominated district will hit the polls on Tuesday to determine the GOP candidate for the special election, who will probably have no problem winning next November.

Who will win tomorrow? The GOP establishment has backed a candidate “with a Democratic past” while two other candidates have received backing “from national GOP heavy-hitters.” Massive money donations from outside super PACs have also helped narrow the lead from the establishment pick.
John Curtis, the Provo mayor who has drawn support from the GOP’s more moderate flank, is the only candidate who didn’t vote for Trump, saying he had significant moral concerns about supporting the billionaire businessman.

Tanner Ainge, the son of Boston Celtics president Danny Ainge endorsed by Sarah Palin, said he voted for Trump because he always votes for the Republican candidate in presidential elections.

Chris Herrod, a former state lawmaker backed by Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, is the most vocal supporter of Trump. He said he did not think it was necessary for a special prosecutor to be appointed to look into possible ties between the president’s campaign and Russia.

Trump vs. The Smirking Class

Donald Trump reinvigorated a large group of Americans that the Smirking Class had successfully silenced. It’s why they HATE him.

Hillary’s condescending sneer about Trump’s supporters being deplorable isn’t a one-off. The Smirking Class all feel that way.

But despite their best efforts with rigged polls and non-stop anti-Trump/pro-Hillary reporting, they were unable to keep us too dispirited to bother going to the polls.

They lost. And they will continue to lose, because now we know our power. Trump’s WV speech is inspiring.

Aug 3, 2017: President Donald Trump [46:12]

The Smirking Class responded to this speech with its characteristic round of sneers and insults. The gist of their ugliness was that West Virginia is full of Kool-Aid-drinking, gapped-toothed, inbred yahoos who are too stupid to know what’s good for them, so no wonder they voted for Trump.

2017_08 05 Smirking Class

I have to laugh at that, seeing as how West Virginians voted for the Democrat presidential candidates in 1960, 1964, 1968, 1976, 1980, 1988, 1992, and 1996.

In the Republican landslide of 1988, it was one of only ten states, and the only southern state (as defined by the US Census), to give its electoral votes to Michael Dukakis; it was one of only six states to support Jimmy Carter over Ronald Reagan in 1980; and it supported Bill Clinton by large margins in both 1992 and 1996.

And all the Democrats just LURVED that West Virginia homeboy, Robert C. Byrd, a Democrat and former KKK member, who represented West Virginia in Congress for over 57 years, the longest-serving member of Congress in history.

In the speech above, the governor of West Virginia announced he is changing his registration from Democrat to Republican. Compare that with the irony of our “big” loss when Morning Joe switched from Republican to Independent! LOLOLOL!!!

Flashback: Obama Mocked the Idea That a US Election Could be Rigged

It wasn’t until after Donald Trump won the election that the Left got all twitchy about the election having been rigged.  Before the election, when they thought Hillary had it locked up, they said rigging an American election was impossible.

Obama:  “There’s no serious person out there who would suggest somehow that you could even rig America’s election in part because they’re so de-centralized and the numbers of votes involved. There is no evidence that that has happened in the past or that there’s incidences which that will happen this time.”

Obama went on to mock Trump and told him to “stop whining” and get votes so he can win the election.

Obama-appointed judges blocking Trump’s immigration crackdown

LAWS ONLY MATTER IF YOU RESPECT THEM. OBAMA NEVER DID. NEITHER DO HIS JUDGES.

The judges in those deportation cases have rejected Mr. Trump’s argument that he has wide latitude to decide who gets kicked out, without having to worry about district courts second-guessing him on facts of the case.  Instead, the judges said, they get to decide their jurisdiction, and that extends to reviewing Mr. Trump’s immigration policy.
